12.01.2022 Auditions notice: Trouble 07 - Licensed to Panto

11.01.2022 This article appeared in Stage Whispers ten years ago when Calendar Girls was first performed in Australia. The author, Tim Firth, talks about the play's background and its transition from screen to stage. http://www.stagewhispers.com.au/news/calendar-girls

09.01.2022 Our next production: The Darling Buds of May AUDITIONS NOTICE The easing of restrictions means that the Bridgetown Repertory Club can audition, rehearse and perform our next play. The club is adhering to guidelines and following protocols, including extra cleaning. We are lucky to have such a large space to gather in.... The play is based on the first chapter of H.E.Bates’ novel of the same name. The novel has spawned four other novels featuring the loveable Larkins, and a feature film, a radio series, a hugely successful television series and this play. It is set in rural England in the 1950s and features a large cast of all ages. Pop Larkin, who makes a fortune from scrap-iron deals but has never paid income tax, lives in rural idyllic bliss with generous-hearted Ma and their six children. When a young, earnest tax official, Mr Charlton, turns up one hot May afternoon in 1957 to investigate he is bewitched immediately by eldest daughter Mariette and it is not long before he succumbs to the boisterous Larkin family charm and largesse. This play should be warmly received by Larkins fans, new and old. It will be a lot of fun to be in. As an added bonus - the cast will be the first to perform under our new, awesome lights!!! Performance dates still being decided.

01.01.2022 Bridgetown Theatre has a legacy of strong musical tradition. This has lapsed in recent years with the exodus of key players and musical directors. But no more. Bridgetown Theatre is pleased to announce that moves are afoot to bring song and dance back to the stage in the form of a new musical written and composed by Rose Ferrell and Jacqui Verhaar. "Her Latest Flame" is a romantic adult musical comedy set in an Australian Country town in the 1980s. Carol works in a dating age...ncy, and is anxious for her life to start. But when she begins to doubt whether her boyfriend will ever pop the question, her boss, Laura, encourages Carol to ‘shop around.’ Carol does, with almost disastrous consequences, before she discovers that Nigel does care for her. They reconcile, and begin their Dance of Life. The script is hilarious, the music and songs catchy, the dance sequences entertaining. The roles are to die for. Who wouldn’t want to be involved? Who are we looking for? Cast: 8 Female, 5 Male, plus dancers and chorus 15 musical numbers. (Two main female roles and two main male roles.) Casting age is adult with a possibility of 15+ in minor roles. Technical: choreographer, musically talented, sets, scenic artists, costumes, make-up/hair and more. But, first things first: Come hear more about the production and register your interest by attending a meeting/workshop at Bridgetown Theatre at 2:30pm on Saturday 10th October. This is not an audition. We want you to show us by attending, or contacting us if you can’t make it, that Her Latest Flame will happen. Anticipated audition date: 12 December 2020 Anticipated rehearsal dates: January/February/March Anticipated performance dates: 18 - 28 March 2021 Enquiries to Rose Ferrell (Director): 0437 485 237 Enquiries to Richard Allen (Production Manager) : 0417 174 103
