24.01.2022 TOTAL FIRE BANS have been declared for Friday 27 November 2020 in the following Fire Ban Districts: West Coast - Severe Eastern Eyre Peninsula - Severe Lower Ey...re Peninsula - Severe Mid North - Severe Mount Lofty Ranges - Extreme Yorke Peninsula - Severe Lower South East - Severe Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted. The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow. The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan. FIRE DANGER RATING Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Extreme, only well prepared, well constructed and actively defended houses are likely to offer safety during a fire. Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Severe, well prepared and actively defended houses can offer safety during a fire. BUSHFIRE PLAN If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option. In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions. Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council. Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight. Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions. For further information contact the Bushfire Information Hotline on 1800 362 361 or visit www.cfs.sa.gov.au

22.01.2022 Have you wondered what happens to all of the felled trees from the Cudlee Creek Bushfire? Here are some examples: 1) Hollow wood was relocated into the fire sca...r as shelter for native fauna (with Kersbrook Landcare Group). 2) Coarse woody debris was relocated into restoration sites where it will break down and encourage insects and birds for restoration of conservation areas. 3) Nearly 170 trailer loads of wood were collected by fire-affected community members who will store it for household burning in winter 2021. . It's all part of our district's recovery. https://engage.ahc.sa.gov.au/bushfire-recovery See more

21.01.2022 Have you recently been impacted by bushfire? You are in a unique position to help the CFS to help residents like you. Please complete this 5-minute survey before Monday to help the CFS understand the needs of communities at risk of bushfire: https://is.gd/CFS_Community_survey

21.01.2022 Here are the FDS start dates hot of the press.

21.01.2022 This also includes Op-Shops. QR Code posters have now been displayed for your convenience.

21.01.2022 EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY all people entering South Australia must isolate for 14-days from their arrival. This applies to South Australians, other Australians and ...other travellers, and will be supported by border control from Tuesday 24 March at 4pm. Exemptions will apply for essential transport including health and medical supplies, health personnel and patients, food and commercial supply chains (i.e. the carrying of goods), healthcare workers, near border interactions, travel of a relative/carer of a dependant individual, and for emergency services. Other travellers (for example fly-in-fly-out workers in the mining industry or national level sporting teams) could be exempt from this provision provided they had approved disease control mechanisms in place. The criteria for testing for COVID-19 has been expanded in South Australia from today to include anyone who has travelled from interstate in the last seven days and have new respiratory symptoms. Please only present for testing if you fulfill the criteria: You have travelled overseas in the past 14 days AND have symptoms. You have travelled interstate in the past 7 days AND have new respiratory symptoms. You have been in contact with a confirmed case AND have symptoms. You are a healthcare worker with direct patient contact AND have a fever (37.5) AND an acute respiratory infection (e.g. shortness of breath, cough, sore throat). South Australia Police will continue to conduct random checks to ensure those required to self-isolate are doing so. More information: https://bit.ly/2vESNiK Self-isolation and quarantine: https://bit.ly/2xWFVoV

21.01.2022 Self isolation is the best pathway for controlling the COVID-19. The less people and places you interact with the lower chance you have of contracting or spreading the virus and the more time it allows for the health services to manage the pandemic.

20.01.2022 Fire Danger is increased for the next few days. Stay Alert.

19.01.2022 Thank you to all the people that visited the Op Shop on our 1st day of sales today since Covid shut us down. People were so supportive of what we did to protect our members & so glad to see us back. Unfortunately due to being unable to safely staff the shop, we will be not be open as planned this Saturday as previously advertised. If you are willing to assist in the future, please leave your details with shop volunteers at the next opportunity. Someone will then make cont...act to discuss what is required. We need more volunteers to help support this community resource. We will next be open for sales on Friday . Our 1st on sale day for next week will be next Wednesday. Regards Pete Best Bridgewater Captain.

19.01.2022 Since we became a Covid focussed world back in March we have had 11 generous new people join our team. Unfortunately due to this they were not able to be trained or attend until recently. I am happy to report that these tenacious 11 people hung in there & we maintained contact from our side.... It is great to announce we have now achieved what seemed a big task over this period. We have now as of this weekend helped the last of our 11 new trainees complete their basic training. Welcome to our CFS family & we look forward to providing you with further training along your journey & promise to look after you at all times. Lastly thankyou. Pete Best Bridgewater Captain

18.01.2022 This weekend sees the end of Daylight Saving, which is also a good time to change the batteries in your smoke alarm. If you are staying at home and doing some handywork, you could add this to the list.

18.01.2022 To the Bridgewater Community Great news we are back training on Monday nights, of course adhering to the government controls around numbers & social distancing. We were always here for you during the current Covoid-19 emergency but with a less visible presence.... We have a group of new members(10) that had signed on following the Cudlee Ck fires. We will now have the opportunity very soon to get these members formally trained ready to support our current list. All training was stopped during these times. Thank you to everyone that has supported us through this year with words of encouragement & supplying goods during the horrendous fires . Without your support both verbal & physical it would have been even harder with what has been a very challenging year. Unfortunately the Op Shop remains closed until further notice but we look forward to opening some time in the near future. We are still unable to take any donations. We will keep you informed with further updates on all areas connected with the brigade via this page. Bridgewater CFS

18.01.2022 Its electric blanket season but dont forget to turn them off! Lucky for this elderly gentlemen he had shut his bedroom door and the fire was contained to ...the mattress and his house only received smoke damage. Remember to switch on your electric blanket half an hour before going to bed, and once your in there - turn it off!

16.01.2022 There has been a lot of questions & unsubstantiated rumours about when the Op Shop will open on various FB groups around the hills. I thought as Captain I would address this. If you want facts you will only find it here, not from the local gossip groups. We are currently working towards safely reopening the CFS Op Shop. Fencing & closure will remain until we are ready to open.... With recent outbreaks across the border & further restrictions here & more likely, we are proceeding carefully. Our members safety is 1st priority. We are changing how we operate with several changes being made. These are to improve flow in & out of the shop & also external areas. These changes will also afford protection to our valued members. We have lost a few members since March, this has also impacted opening. If you are in a position to help please make contact? We thankyou for your patience. For those holding onto products to donate please pass these onto other local charities to be put to good use. We will be restricted with accepting donations when we finally open & likely may refuse? Stay tuned on here for accurate further updates Pete Best Captain Bridgewater CFS

16.01.2022 Hi all one day to go until our Op Shop opens. We will be open from 09:30 Wednesday with a few changes from what you remember pre-Covid. Please be respectful to our workers & the necessary changes that have been implemented. ... There will be restrictions on numbers allowed into the shop areas at one time & also the time spent shopping. This makes it fair for all. Entry & flow inside the shop has changed also being one way. External areas have been fenced temporarily to allow for safely spacing people with a gate fitted. Please follow directions of our team. Prior to entry please use the hand sanitiser station & regular cleaning & wiping of surfaces will be completed during shifts. We have also set up 2 bins to allow for donated clothing to be quarantined for a period prior to sorting & sale. These new operating changes are also subject to change as we move forward. Thanks for supporting Bridgewater CFS & your community.

15.01.2022 Well done to all including their families.

15.01.2022 For those that are wondering why our siren has been silent the last few weeks? It is because we generally turn it on manually on a Monday night. Due to being directed by CFS HQ to limit times in station unless for emergencies, we have stopped this test until further notice. For those missing the sound of our siren here is Rocky our backup system. Rocky is owned by my daughter & her family.... Thanks Rocky. Pete Best Captain BRIDGEWATER CFS

15.01.2022 A hazard reduction pile burn for a Mt George resident was undertaken for tonight's training. This enables us to practice many aspects of our skills on the one event. It also allows us to expose our many new members to a bit of flame & heat prior to the fire danger season.

14.01.2022 We have now amended this to NO DONATIONS until advised. Unfortunately due to the recent spike in Covid cases within SA we have taken measures to protect our volunteers & our community. We have instigated a temporary closure until the situation is clearer.

14.01.2022 Today is not over yet, possibly some more weather to come?

14.01.2022 Research has revealed that 53% of children charge their phone or tablet either on their bed or under their pillow. This is can be extremely dangerous. The h...eat generated cannot dissipate and the charger will become hotter and hotter. The likely result is that the pillow/bed will catch fire placing the child (as well as everyone else in the property) in great danger. Think....where do you & your family charge your moblie phone?

13.01.2022 Welcome back Elsie hopefully we don't need you this year?

13.01.2022 The difference a year makes! This time a year ago students, staff and volunteers from Bridgewater Primary School, Bridgewater CFS and Adelaide Hills Council were involved in the planting out of the verge adjacent to the Bridgewater CFS Station. The plants are now well established and a big thank you to everyone involved.

12.01.2022 Members of Bridgewater Country Fire Service are participating in a stair climb to fund raise to support mental health. Teams normally travel to Melbourne to participate but are unable to do so this year due to COVID restrictions. Instead members are using the stairs near Bridgewater Coles. The aim is to climb 3046 steps in recognition of the number lost to suicide each year. Members will be completing this task between 10th September- 10th October. Thanks to Josh Teague MP a...nd Adelaide Hills Councillor Leith Mudge for lending their support and encouragement this morning. Donations can be made either in person while members are climbing or online: https://www.firefighterclimb.org.au/sta/sa-cfs/bridgewater/

08.01.2022 Firefighters not only protect the human community but are always there to help our furry locals. This little local had an interaction that was not recommended just outside the station. Our crews were quick to offer assistance. It was kept safe until in the caring hands of Koala Rescue hopefully it will be a good outcome?

07.01.2022 Just a quick post to remind all residents that the 19/20 Fire Danger season ends at midnight tonight. A very challenging season on many fronts. Thanks to the firefighters & their families & the Op shop crew for being there to support the community. A big thanks to everyone that has supported us through this season via the shop. ... To the people who supplied food & other kind donations during the various fire campaigns. Stay safe during the current challenge. Pete Best Bridgewater Captain

07.01.2022 Clean up time so as to ensure we fit. Now is the time to prepare not when the hits the fan!

07.01.2022 Thanks to everyone involved for their efforts before, during, and after.

06.01.2022 Fire Danger Ratings are an indicator of how dangerous a bushfire could be if it did occur. It is not a predictor of how likely a bushfire is to occur. Do you know what the different ratings mean?

06.01.2022 The official end of the Fire Season in NSW completes what was an incredible effort by volunteers, staff, and communities from across Australia. We give a special thanks to the volunteers from Bridgewater Country Fire Service, Mount Lofty Group and the dozens of other Brigades who volunteered their time in response to the crisis. We also give thanks to the people behind the scenes; the families, friends, businesses, and others throughout the community that support us and make possible what we do. Please note that the Fire Season for the Mount Lofty Ranges lasts until 30th April 2020.

05.01.2022 We are one but we are many. Be assured we are here during this period. So you will see our team responding to the station if needed. With tomorrow being a TFB with a severe rating we are ready. This explains really well our position during this 2nd shutdown. Thanks to our Northern Brothers at Dalkeith for the brilliant post that we have shared.... https://www.facebook.com/332182856829880/posts/3470815919633209/

04.01.2022 Just an update but not much has changed. As always we are here when you need us. Please advise on our arrival if you or members of your household are experiencing symptoms that may put our crews at risk.... We will still assist, we may however modify our methods of response to further protect our crews.

04.01.2022 Thank you to all the members of the community, volunteers and Michael from SACFS Community Engagement who attended the Bushfire Blitz event today at the Bridgewater Hall. As always a very informative session that highlights the importance of preparation and having a plan ahead of the Fire Danger Season. The Fire Danger Season for the Mount Lofty Ranges has been declared for the 1st December, for more information and to help prepare ahead of time visit: https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/home/
