24.01.2022 The kids and I literally ripped the house apart today and tomorrow we will put it back together. I’ve been watching how they roll and am adapting to a brand new set of needs. Our house is our toolbox and we will create a beautiful new normal

19.01.2022 In an attempt to stave of madness I take my kids out for a walk every day (while we still can) and people have started putting Teddys and toys in their windows to turn it into a cool little bear hunt. Rifle through the toy box and see if you can do the same. Much love Brigette

19.01.2022 If your fridge is looking baron and depressing because you can’t get your usual stuff, can’t afford your usual stuff or because it’s working overtime feeding the household and always looks empty, then change up your system and put it all on show. Abandon the opaque fruit and veggie draws and let your mind see food. We all hold visual abundance and poverty triggers that date way back so take charge and paint the best picture with what you’ve got. Much love Brigette

19.01.2022 Ok I’m realising it’s time for everyone in the house to understand daytime air. They’re more used to being here morning and night so doors and windows are automatically being closed....time to undo some good old fashioned manners because right now we all need to breathe. Alot.... In Louise Hay land, the lungs are related to our ability to feel worthy and take in life. Problems can speak of fear, depression and grief. So we must open our doors and fill ourselves up with fresh air. Push any stagnation through our houses and not let this bank up in our psyches. It’s been a long time since I’ve revelled in the scent of an unpolluted breeze.

18.01.2022 A love poem for all you parents out there...especially the single ones I’ve read the rules Set up the tools To read and write and spell... I’ve cooked and cleaned and entertained And kept them feeling well I washed the floors Then painted walls And cleaned their little faces Then built a tramp with curs-ed clamps And made them gentle spaces My house is now a cafe Ever open - never locked The sun is finally setting And I’m now completely f#*%ed! Much love Brigette

16.01.2022 It got worse before it got better. I literally covered myself in mud, moved giant bits of sandstone and reclaimed a basic creature status. It’s a garden made from bits and pieces. It’s new and ugly and raw but I’ve handed it back to nature and I know she’ll do some cool tricks.... Now is not the time to hang on to old ways so I’m getting basic. Learning how to educate my kids in a brand new way. Taking the time to do everything slower...or sometimes not at all. Creating new space for my senses to reset. Keeping in touch with my near and far tribe. Wondering about all of you. XB

12.01.2022 The biggest job on my list today is to analyse the individual circadian rhythms of everyone under this roof and begin gearing the house accordingly. If you’ve never heard of this before it’s basically the way in which we respond physically, mentally and behaviourally to light and taking charge of it massively reduces things like depression and fatigue. We all know our daily routines are about to change - if they haven’t already - so here’s what I’m thinking to kick off some h...ealthier practices while we all huddle in. Gear the lighting in the house to follow the sun - gentle in the morning, bright at midday and ambient in the evening. Check the intensity and colour hues of your globes. Bright daylight globes are good in bathrooms, kitchens and ceiling lights whilst warm lower lumens are better in lamps. if you’re working from home swap out your old travel time for a walk (or at least a sit by the window if you can’t get out) and get your head in the sun. This is especially important for kids! Clean or wash your windows and their coverings and give the glass a once over while your at it. If you live in a dark house make sure to open the window coverings every morning and place mirrors or things with reflective surfaces (like framed art) near your natural light sources. It’s such a great time to catch up on sleep but be in charge of your cycles and keep them tuned into night. Be safe while your doing all this as now’s not the time to go falling off ladders or electrocuting yourself...you’ll never get a bed at the hospital Much love Brigette

10.01.2022 In our old world this Easter weekend would be filled with pleas to take care on the roads, but this year there’s a different kind of care that must be taken. To stay inside and to protect your immediate fellow humans is clearly at the top of the list, but following closely behind is the care you must take of your own state of wellness within that. What has peaked my concern are the increasing numbers of domestic violence incidents right now, so if the alarm bells are ringing ...then here’s a few action points to think about. *If it’s physical then call the police immediately and they can help you. *If it’s verbal then start creating a plan of action to keep yourself as strong as you can. Shut that shit down and deliberately design in the way you want to spend your time because as we all know - actions speak louder than words. Here’s a few ideas if your struggling. * Set up camp in a spare room or lounge * Create a new menu that you actually want to eat * Learn how to knit - yes you too can make weird blankets like me - crochet, draw or do anything with your hands that feels relaxing...just wander round youtube for any instructions * Work out what kind of stories you emotionally need and hit the TV, books or podcasts every single night * Try and have 1 voice conversation with a friend or beloved family member a day * Clean 1 small part of your house every day * Have an exit statement like ‘I know that you’re frustrated so let’s make a time to address it tomorrow’ then walk away I know from experience that when things get stressful that counting someone’s drinks, monitoring behaviour and trying to reason with a person who’s just looking to vent is a pointless exercise. The best thing you can do is conserve your energy and invest it back into yourself. Right now is challenging but we will come out the other side. Stay strong Brigette

09.01.2022 I had my first full body experience of total vulnerability today and I let myself feel it all. But only for the time it took to have a cup of tea by myself out the back and get my mental shit back together. I know these feelings are important so I will not stop them up, but rather give them a time frame and some air, as an adult and not in the face of my children.... Movement is key right now, especially during the day so on the brushes we got as Kitty happily supervised. So my golden trifecta is working so far as each day we do something for the body, the mind and the house. Power on parents

09.01.2022 Day 7 at home and did this. Ripped it all out, dug it all up and made the biggest mess I possibly could. Bloody excellent. Trampoline goes up tomorrow then we’re planting an actual edible garden. Totally exhausted and covered head to toe in mud.... Practical is the new black See more

08.01.2022 Here’s a big fat before and after that has proved quite successful today. In a bid to get my teenager out of her room and ‘in class’ we have changed our currently unoccupied bedroom into a studio space and today she embraced it with open arms and it actually worked...hallelujah! So as my outside profession in both entertainment and working therapeutically in houses has come to a grinding halt, I too have my work cut out for me to embrace my online self - so I need your help.... My plan is to gather up all my skills and offer online consultations for people who are struggling to get themselves online and need some help creating their signature space and personae. I have literally dressed thousands of people and designed up a great many spaces for a myriad of TV, event, interior and theatrical productions over the past 25 years so I figured now might just be the time to bring it all back home and share the love domestically. So if you know someone who is ready to get online but needs some professional design inspiration to create their virtual self please feel free to message me or pass on my email - [email protected] I now have a desk (for the first time ever in my actual house!) and am looking for 5 people to kick this off with at no charge at a beta level. Much love Brigette

01.01.2022 I own so many tools but this is my most effective one by far. Make that list then highlight things one by one then at the end of the day it shows up your energy. So now I’m at home and on the verge of self isolation with my 2 school aged children who are 8 & 12 and my 20 year old sister and all of us are well.... The thing that is haunting me is that I haven’t taught them enough about the basics of home which makes me feel like the total mechanic with the bad car. I work in houses for heavens sake, helping others create spaces and practices that gear up their experiences as humans, but in terms of my own - I’ve been doing it all because it’s easier and I just haven’t found the actual time to teach them enough of what I know. Well now I have time and so do they and I figured it’s also about time I braved up and got my arse online and shared a bit of love with you too. If you are sick then hibernate like a bear. But if you are well then get inspired and make good with what you’ve got. We will get there and we can do it even better together. See you tomorrow With love Brigette
