24.01.2022 Today the children used paper towel rolls to stamp patterns onto their paper, enjoying exploring a new paint tool.
23.01.2022 Today the children engaged in sensory play with cloud dough (made out of flour and oil). They were very interested in the texture of the dough and how it could mould into a shape easily, but then crumble really quickly.
23.01.2022 We had a visit from the animals from Kindifarm today. We had a great time, holding, feeding and patting lots of animals, including chicks, rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks, a baby goat, a lamb and a piglet. We also had our faces painted.
18.01.2022 Yesterday the children made their own kites using paper, straws and wool. They were very excited to try them out but unfortunately the wind didn't want to cooperate!
17.01.2022 This week the children have been engaging in dramatic play in our vet area. They have been using the stethoscope to listen to the animals' heartbeats, giving them shots and putting bandages on them. They then decided to be doctors and cured each other.
16.01.2022 Today we made letterboxes and hung them on the wall. The children then wrote/drew letters to each other, put them in envelopes, put a 'stamp' on each envelope and put them in each other's letterboxes. The children were very engaged in this activity and had lots of fun!
15.01.2022 Having fun at the sand and water play table! Sand and water play are beneficial sensory experiences for young children, and enable them to explore open-ended materials that have no 'correct' way to play with.
12.01.2022 Today the children did some letter and name recognition. They had stickers with the letters of their names on them, and matched them with their name on the wall.
12.01.2022 Today the children engaged in dramatic play. We had a restaurant set up and the children ordered food from the menu, cooked for each other and paid using the cash register. The older children even decided to eat their real food at the restaurant!
11.01.2022 Today we did a science experiment to see what would happen when we added vinegar to baking powder. The children were very excited when the mixture started fizzing and bubbling.
10.01.2022 Today the children engaged in sensory play with pudding paint. Sensory play is very important for children's brain development and it gives them an opportunity to explore different textures and smells. This activity also encouraged vocabulary development as the children talked about what the pudding paint felt and looked like.
10.01.2022 Looking for vacation care for the July school holidays? Bright Bubs Family Day Care has vacancies for primary school aged children. CCB and CCR are available to eligible families.
10.01.2022 Today the children had a great time painting together on a large sheet of paper that hung on the wall outside. They were very proud of their painting and couldn't wait for it to dry!
07.01.2022 The children had a great time at the local park today!
07.01.2022 Today the children threaded pasta onto spaghetti strands. This activity not only developed fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, but also exposed children to early mathematical and scientific concepts as we discussed why the spaghetti strands were falling over and what we could do to stop them.
06.01.2022 Today the children made butterflies. They spooned blobs of paint on their paper, folded the paper and spread the paint out with their hands. When they opened their papers, they were delighted with their butterflies!
04.01.2022 Today the children had frozen dinosaur eggs. The heat from the sun and the children's hands helped the eggs "hatch", much to the delight of everyone.
03.01.2022 Something to think about when your toddler walks around the room, emptying every bucket/tub/box of toys (just when you've finished packing up!).
02.01.2022 We took advantage of the beautiful weather today and painted outside in the backyard. Painting gives children the opportunity to express their creativity, engage in sensory exploration of the paint and develop fine motor skills. Vacancies available at Bright Bubs Family Day Care - contact Erin.
01.01.2022 Today we made our own play dough. The children enjoyed this process, seeing how we could turn a few ingredients into play dough. They also enjoyed feeling the different textures as each ingredient was added.
