25.01.2022 And the winner is the Turkana people who will have a greenhouse for healthy veggies! Thank you, Our Saviour Rochedale, for hosting a fun-filled trivia night and for helping people in East Africa at the same time!... Results below. 24.01.2022 Here are 300,000 ways you’re helping refugees protect themselves from COVID-19 at Dadaab Refugee Camp and earn a livelihood at the same time. Great work, LWF Kenya Djibouti Somalia and keep up the fabulous sewing folks!

23.01.2022 These women in Nepal are part of a farming cooperative you help support. They’re able to take out a loan to start a small business or grow healthy crops. Because of the training and support provided by the cooperative, members who struggled to save 10 rupees a month (12 cents) are now able to take a loan of up to 40,000 rupees ($470)... PLUS now have the confidence and skills to be able to pay it back! Lukhi Murmu took a loan of 15,000 rupees ($176) and started a grocery shop. She says: The cooperative is a valuable means of economic change for a poor person like me. I have been able to feed my children, thanks to the grocery shop. My husband brings in money by working as a daily-wage laborer. We are happy with our income now." Your help, along with support from the Australian Government, means small loans make BIG change thank you! #ANCP #AustralianAid Lutheran World Federation - LWF Nepal

22.01.2022 As COVID-19 keeps challenging us, it can be hard to see beyond our own suburb or town. (Perhaps even our own stock of toilet-paper.) That's why this two minute message from Chey Mattner, former head of ALWS, is so inspiring. The message is for World Refugee Day, but what Chey shares about your ALWS work for people who have lost everything will encourage you every day.

22.01.2022 Here at ALWS, we’ve been so inspired by your creativity in finding new ways to Walk Your Way. 22.01.2022 Some of us in SA lockdown have started feeling a little sorry for ourselves but then we thought of the people you help in refugee camps through ALWS, the challenges they face, and all they have lost. Jonathan is sharing the message (via video) at his church this Sunday, and we thought you might like to see it too. Jonathan says:... ‘Be warned it’s 18 minutes long, and you’ll have to look at my COVID-weary face way longer than anyone should have to but it’s mostly stories of the people you help, and what you and I can learn from them about life. If you don’t come away humbled and inspired and excited by these amazing people, I’ll be surprised.’ You can watch it here thank you! https://www.alws.org.au/news-and-stori/covid-19-hope-spots/

19.01.2022 It’s hard to tell, but this is Jamie Davies, Executive Director of ALWS. She wants to pass on an important message to you today on World Humanitarian Day: ‘If you don’t live in Victoria, you might feel like you escaped COVID-19 pretty well. (Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Victorians).... ‘But for people in developing countries, the challenges of COVID-19 are enormous: - 75% of people in the most vulnerable countries lack access to clean soap and water - COVID-19 could push over 70 million people into extreme poverty - 80 million babies under a year old are at risk of missing routine immunisations due to COVID-19. ‘That’s why I’m masking up today and why I’ve signed the EndCOVIDForAll petition. I want to encourage our government to provide life-saving support to vulnerable nations. ‘So, on this World Humanitarian Day, as we thank all the world's humanitarian workers for all they do, I invite you to join me in standing in solidarity with our global neighbours and sign the #EndCOVIDForAll petition here: www.endcovidforall.com Thank you!’

19.01.2022 If you’re up with the birds tomorrow morning, you might like to tune into ABC radio Gold Coast at 6.30am. You’ll hear Jonathan talk about the AMAZING things people like you are doing in Queensland, in spite of COVID-19 changing our Walk My Way plans like St Andrews College, who are going to walk the original 26km route one week later... or LORDS, who are encouraging all their students to walk 26km over a 2 week period or toddler Hazel, whose little legs didn’t stop her helping 149 refugee kids!
