25.01.2022 As I wait for a train to time-travel ‘into town’, to greet an audience of curious ladies, I wonder. As Dr Gertrude Langer (1908-1984), I wonder what she would make of her impressive art-filled life being shown and her influential story being told, in this theatrical walking tour way, in the year 2021. I have a feeling she would be pleased that she and her achievements were being remembered and celebrated. Yes, I hope so. My research has been careful and since she ‘loved a story’, I am sure she would approve.

24.01.2022 My goodness, Dr Gertrude Langer, Art Critic (1908-1984) mid-tour, is looking very serious about ‘All things Art’ isn’t she? (I do try to portray her character however. ) I’ve been getting ready for the last few tours/shows, until Gertrude time-travels back to her own time again... ... and oops, I have just checked, they have all Sold Out.

21.01.2022 As I ‘un-become Gertrude’ after another theatrical walking tour today, and take off my accouterments (all family antiques from great-aunts and grandmothers), I allow myself a little more time to reminisce. All my research into her life becomes like a sort of memory, when you are delivering her story in first-person. A reminiscence of a life that I ‘pretend’ to have had. It’s interesting/odd really. I feel like this with each historical ‘lady’. So much research goes into creating the script and the characterisation that I really become quite immersed. Anyway, I’m Natalie again now. And I want to thank the gorgeous group that time-travelled so enthusiastically with me today. T’was fun!

05.01.2022 Dr Gertrude Langer, noted and high achieving Art Critic (1908-1984), obviously here time-travelling , immersed herself in ‘All things Art’ today on the streets of Brisbane during the ‘Walking with Gertrude’ tour. I reminded myself today of some of my research in preparing for the performance, as the temperature soared to new heights in Brisbane. Something that Gertrude actually said back in about 1939. Coming from Austria in Europe and cooler climes, she lamented, When does... the winter start? She was greeted with a reply from the seasoned local folk, It is now August, it is winter! But Gertrude stayed! And luckily for us, she brought so much passion and focus to her new adopted country. And her story must be told. (Visit the Bauhaus Now exhibition at the Museum of Brisbane too. Gertrude lived/loved it!) What was originally supposed to be 3 shows has turned into 13. My goodness, such curiosity. Thankyou all. So, Museum of Brisbane have opened up two more dates in January 2021. I believe there are only a few tickets left for each. (And then Gertrude will time-travel back into history again. ) For tickets and information: https://www.museumofbrisbane.com.au//walking-with-gertrude/

01.01.2022 Last week Brisbane was 34 degrees and sunny, this week it’s 18 degrees and raining! Luckily I found an ‘era’ umbrella that is suitable for both occasions. (Actually a lovely 90 year old lady gifted it to me, so even the umbrella has a story!) Dr Gertrude Langer (1908-1984) Art Critic, would certainly approve I should think. She was an immensely practical woman! The ‘Walking with Gertrude’ tour at the Museum of Brisbane is about to start.... Rain, hail or shine! See more
