24.01.2022 For a lot of AFOLs, LEGO is a vital piece in managing and looking after our mental health, but sometimes it takes a little more. We strongly encourage all LEGO fans to consider their mental health and that of their families and to seek help when they feel it is needed. Here are some links to resources that may assist:... 24.01.2022 We have made the difficult decision to officially suspend the 2020 Morayfield Expo in July. Ongoing advice from health officials and stakeholders makes it clear the proceeding with the event is no longer possible in any capacity. We understand this will be heartbreaking for many of you, but the safety of visitors and our exhibitors is paramount and we also take our social responsibility to the community very seriously. While we can't be with you in person, we are planning som...e special online things so stay tuned to our social feeds. Most importantly, keep building. Seeing your builds inspires our builders. Please send us your creations and stories. We will see you soon. Everyone at BrisBricks.

22.01.2022 We always love watching how LEGO gets made.

21.01.2022 Buy/Build/MOC anything cool for May The 4th? Show us in the comments!

21.01.2022 Some members of BrisBricks will be exhibiting various creations in September in the display case at the Logan Hyperdome Library. The three shelves will be filled with models and MOCs to put a smile on the faces of young and old. The middle shelf will highlight vignettes of many stories and movies.... I wonder who will be walking along The Yellow Brick Road? Fingers are working overtime to finish the displays.

21.01.2022 Undies and capes on!

20.01.2022 Awesome news! As a next step, the company will begin to phase out single-use plastic bags used in LEGO boxes to package the loose bricks. This is part of its ambition to make all its packaging sustainable by the end of 2025. From 2021, Forest Stewardship Council-certified recyclable paper bags will be trialed in boxes. Christiansen said: We have received many letters from children about the environment asking us to remove single-use plastic packaging. We have been exploring alternatives for some time and the passion and ideas from children inspired us to begin to make the change.

20.01.2022 Happy Father's Day to all the awesome Brick Dads out there. If you're a father, an uncle, a grandpa, a brother or a family friend, you all help us build beyond. If you scored an awesome haul today, show us in the comments.

16.01.2022 This is fantastic.

16.01.2022 Flashback Friday It's 8 years to the day when BrisBricks had our very first show in a tin shed at the Mt Gravatt Showgrounds. We hosted over 5,000 fans on that weekend and it gave us the platform to build towards bigger and better shows.... But, no matter how big our shows may get, we always try to honor the spirit of that first weekend. A group of dedicated and passionate people sharing our creations with the LEGO lovers of South East Queensland. Right now we can't all be together, but rest assured we are working tirelessly to adapt to the new normal and finding ways to keep sharing our passion for creativity and fun. Keep building.

16.01.2022 Today would have been the opening day of our Chandler 2020 LEGO Fan Expo. We aren't able to be together this year but we won't let that stop what we do this all for. Sharing our passion for LEGO and creativity with you! We've asked our members to share some of their favourite memories, photos and videos of past Expos throughout the day (and maybe even some sneak peaks at work in progress builds).... Make sure you keep checking back to this post for updates. BUT, we also miss the visitors who we do this all for! Please share with us YOUR favourite memories of visiting past BrisBricks Expos and even what you and you're family is working on over this long weekend.

15.01.2022 Congratulations to Julie and Darryl on winning the House Pack and David on winning the Star Wars pack in the raffle. Thank you everyone who supported the QRFS!

14.01.2022 One of the best things about the end of the year for LEGO lovers is the Advent Calendars. This year we get Star Wars, Harry Potter, LEGO City and LEGO Friends calendars. It seems that the LEGO Friends calendar isn't hitting retail stores in great numbers and what stock is available at online retailers is going fast.... All the advent calendars, and this set in particular, are hugely popular and any stock will be snapped up quickly even before November. We just got a tip that LEGO's online store has had a restock but they will go quickly. If you have a LEGO Friends fan in your life, we suggest jumping on this quickly.

05.01.2022 OFFICIAL STATEMENT It's with tremendous heartbreak that we announce the cancellation of the Toowoomba 2020 LEGO Fan Expo. Todays guidance and advice from the Australian Federal Government and Chief Medical Officer on restricting gatherings of over 500 people, affects our expo. https://www.abc.net.au//coronavirus-scott-morriso/12053382... Sadly, as a result, BrisBricks committee have taken the decision to cancel the Toowoomba Expo. We know there will be lots of disappointed LEGO fans, young and old, and we are bitterly disappointed also. However, we have to make the right decision in the interest of community health. For those that have already purchased tickets, refunds will be processed shortly. BrisbBricks promises to come back for an AWESOME Expo when the time is right. Actually, we promise to come back with so much AWESOME it will almost be too much AWESOME. Play well and (more importantly) stay well. The BrisBricks team.

05.01.2022 Look at who we found in the paper! Take a peek at the Venice MOC that Magnus has been working on. È molto, molto buono.

03.01.2022 Some sad news. Following lengthy consultation with the state government, public health authorities and the venue, we regret to advise that due to the ongoing uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, the 2020 Chandler Expo in October will not be going ahead. We tried our very best to find a way to make the Expo happen but there are simply too many factors to overcome. I know this will be bitterly disappointing for all our LEGO-loving friends but want to assure... you that we are spending this downtime to build bigger and better and we'll be back in 2021 with some mindblowing displays. Stay safe. Stay well. Keep building.

02.01.2022 Hot Tip! LEGO has released this year's Winter Village set a week early for VIP Members on their website. (VIP signup is free). These sets sell out like carrot cake at a reindeer bake sale so jump on it quick.

01.01.2022 Some interesting history. A 5-day design process! --- 100 years ago this month, former LEGO owner and managing director Godtfred Kirk Christiansen was born. His influence on the company and the success of the LEGO system in play is undeniable, but brand-new research done by our historians in LEGO Idea House shows that his influence on the LEGO brick and the company is even greater than we initially thought....Continue reading

01.01.2022 Given the ongoing uncertainty surrounding mass gatherings and unavailability of expected participants in the event, Broadbeach Alliance will be cancelling the annual Supanova Superhero Parade and all related Gold Coast Superhero Weekend activities for Sunday 15th March. All scheduled programming for Saturday will continue as planned, including Supanova Comic Con & Gaming Expo. We understand that this decision may bring some disappointment and inconveniences, and also understa...nd the effort that goes into making this event special and we very much share these sentiments ourselves. We look forward to greeting everyone in their costumes and capes next year, and appreciate your understanding in this last minute change in schedule. For more information on what activities this applies to, go to www.gcsuperheroweekend.com.au/event-update/

01.01.2022 For all you Harry Potter fans, some of you may remember the massive Blockwarts, the Hogwarts Castle, at some of our shows. 01.01.2022 The life of a LEGO Builder. Despite already bringing an armada of ships to his first BrisBricks event, Claude decided to really push the envelope and get his massive Flying Dutchman ready in time for Bricks On The Hill - A LEGO Fan Popup Expo on Saturday at Hilliard State School. Will the Dutchman get the Dutchmen out of the drydocks in time? You'll just have to come and see!

01.01.2022 Meet the first 3D model builder before that even existed: Dagny Holm had a superb ability to bring the LEGO brick to life through amazing large-scale LEGO models. She is responsible for many of the amazing models you can still see in LEGOLAND Billund today. Her path towards becoming the first model builder extraordinaire began back in the 1930s when a young Dagny, the niece of the LEGO Group founder, Ole Kirk Kristiansen, worked for her uncle for three months. During this ...period, she designed several items all made in wood. 25 years later, Dagny now a classically trained sculptor returned to the toy factory in Billund to design LEGO toys. The company had changed radically since her first stint. The most important single factor was that the basic raw material, wood, had been replaced by plastic. And, the LEGO brick had become the companys core business. Creative, curious and adaptable Dagny, creative, curious and adaptable, soon realised the potential and possibilities the new, colourful plastic bricks possessed not only as toys for kids but also as impressive display models. In 1963, as early plans were made for the design of LEGOLAND Park in Billund, there was no question about who would be given the overall responsibility for the creative work on the park. As the first models came to life it was obvious that this was a very wise decision. With their oversized elegance, the models left everyone in awe still do to this day. Her work for LEGOLAND includes urban settings, castles, animals and various fictional characters all with a touch of humour, lots of innovation, and obvious craftsmanship cornerstones of the LEGO brand. Massive legacy In 1967, she was asked to build a LEGO train for Tivoli in central Copenhagen. It carries visitors on a tour of the gardens. Later that same year it featured in Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. When LEGOLAND opened the following year, the popular train got its own set of tracks and to this day, it continues to transport thousands of visitors through the park every year. Dagny and her work leave behind a massive legacy. Her creative passion has brought a wonderful collection of LEGO models to life. Models which have later inspired thousands of LEGO builders throughout the world. She was the LEGO Groups chief designer until 1986, when she retired at the age of 70. She passed away on March 1, 2004 at the age of 87. Written by Mads Klougart Jakobsen via LEGO.
