13.01.2022 After a shakeup start on Monday, we can now announce the arrival of Kitkats litter. She was very distressed while in labour and didn’t quite know what to do with herself. She birthed the kittens on the cold floor instead of in her warm box. Unfortunately we lost 1 and the others were so cold I wrapped them up and brought them inside to be rubbed up. Riva (our daughter) helps and then the kittens were placed in our climate controlled incubator at 34 degree to stabilise. Kitkat... was still distressed and birthed the lady kitten which was also brought inside with the rest. Once warmed up and looking well, the kittens were active and were placed in the kittening box for Kitkat to tend to. She settled down and began nursing them, curling around them protectively and telling me in not so subtle ways, to bugger off. I monitored her behaviour and the kittens throughout the day and the following day. Unfortunately we lost another kitten but now, 4 days on, the remaining 4 kittens are doing well and Kitkat has calmed down to her usual self and allowing me back in to her pen to monitor their growth.
