25.01.2022 OK finally we have the new bits, just arrived this morning from our brass caster are the replacement parts for the 500B. I will start packaging them and send as soon as I am done. If you have mover recently please advise new address. If you have confirmed your address recently then all is good.

23.01.2022 So here we are a week and a bit away from the 2019 ARMMEX show in Kyneton. Why not pop up for a look, let the good lady stroll down Piper Street as lots of goodies down there whilst you spend an hour or so with us Cottage Industry Manufacturers. You never know what you will find there.

23.01.2022 Good news for a change. BGM flux is back in stock and will remain that way for a long time we hope. $7.50 per 50ml bottle. Also available from Kerroby, Casula, Road and Rail and of course BGM. Cannot be posted though. Also 70 and 135 deg. low melt solder at $9.50 per packet.

21.01.2022 BGM are now offering RTR well wagons f car sets and the stand alones, RQZY, RRZY, RKIY and the new RRIY. Give me a call and we will build up a set for you at a reasonable price. Painted and decaled and ready to move those containers on your empire. Still available in kit form if you so desire and want to build them your self. The new RRIY we are just waiting for decals to arrive and they will be on the market.

20.01.2022 Thought I would change my photo, about time yet I think the koala was cute. I am holding an N gauge ELX which I designed the part and tooling for and as far as I know was the first N gauge wagon done in plastic injection molding in Australia. Was dome for Fybren Models was back in the early 80s. The tooling is now with Aust in Rail.

18.01.2022 The things you find when getting into a number of locomotive kit build for customers and myself, I have come across an early K class that was put to one side due to having a broken tap in one of the brass wheel inserts, I have some new brass inserts and have changed it so all good to go now. If anyone wants an early K kit let me know. $560.00 plus post and insurance. The loco in the photo is mine and no you cannot have this one.

18.01.2022 Been a while since I posted anything but have been a bit busy with building customers locomotives and passenger cars. Taking a day off today for some R & R from building. Have also been busy on our next release which will be a line side structure, getting closer to the release of the structure and will advise when it is ready to go on the market. Leave it to you to guess what I make be but it has been in the planning stages for some time and we have had a sample displayed at ...the exhibitions we attended when exhibitions were on. Also like to advise that we are still about and have stocks of all of our items (only a few 500B loco's at the moment) but all other items are in stock. We now have in stock a full range of loco numbers again including all the numbers for a VR J both oil or coal fired so if you want a specific number we can supply, have restocked all of our diesel numbers as well as topped up the R class numbers. Hope to catch up with you all soon at an exhibition as soon as we are released, looking like Macedon Ranges MRC Exhibition could be our first since last March, ironically that was our last one before Covid struck. 17.01.2022 Just a quick follow up on the new parts we are producing for the 500B. New patterns for the cross head bracket/motion bracket completed and checked, waiting on new 3D prints for the new slide bars, cross head and piston rod and front cover, once I have them and checked for correct size they will go to the brass caster, still hoping to have them at the convention but time will tell. For those who still want a 500B we are releasing the last of the kits for sale that we had reserved for customers that said they wanted one, if you want a kit let us know.

13.01.2022 Well here we are on the eve of set up day for our MODEL RAILWAY EXHIBITION. Its trains and more trains located in Kyneton over the weekend of 7 to 9 March 2020.... Tomorrow is set up day and we will be open to the public from 10:00 am Saturday. Plenty of parking, lay back country atmosphere, get a coffee from Lisa or a Slurpee from Dan, how about a nice sausage in bread from the local scout troop whilst you wander around the exhibition. 12.01.2022 Need a specific number for your R or J class, BGM have a complete range of numbers for both of these VR loco along with numbers for most other VR loco's steam and diesel. If we do not have it we can get it made very quickly.

11.01.2022 Its on again, want to talk with the cottage industry manufactures without the general public being there, learn techniques of assembly, weathering, soldering. We will be there so come along and see what the industry is up to.

11.01.2022 At long last we at BGM will produce again our catalog of locos rolling stock and accessories, they will be available at the Kyneton Exhibition or can post one if you need. As well as this we are currently working on our web site and hope to have that up and running as soon as possible. In the mean time more 500B;s have been sold so they are coming down slowly, if you want one of these kits then best get in soon as you might just miss out. The photo shows twin 500Bs built by Gary Gentle up in NSW. Lots of other bits an pieces available form BGM such as crossing gates, boom gates, picket fencing i etch brass, station dress up kits, nuts and bolts of various sizes as well as our 17 and 135 degree solder and flux.

10.01.2022 With people having to stay at home I hope all you modelers are getting into the "I will put that away for another day pile" of things to do, when you get through that pile we at BGM have 500B locomotive kits along with lots of other bits and pieces. Current projects look like taking a bit longer due to not being able to get out and about, they have not stopped but have slowed a bit. My pile has diminished some what with 3 locomotives finished off in the last week. VR early K, SAR 710 and VR Y class all complete and ready to paint. Just hope I have enough SEM etch black and grey to paint them all. Now for some SAR action with 4 x 500B builds.

10.01.2022 So with all the exhibitions cancelled, no footy or concerts what is one to do. Maybe you need to stay home and model, just think of all the free modelling time you will have now. BGM are always open and if you need anything from our catalog we can post it to you. I have attached a copy of our catalog for you. Our new 2020 cat and a web site is being worked on at this time.

09.01.2022 Have just heard from our brass caster that the new 500B parts are being cast as I write this update. I will have the first off parts here with me in a few days so they can be checked for fit and function and the full run will follow shortly after.

08.01.2022 We have the first shipment of the 500B decals, more still being run off. Unfortunately they were never costed into the kit price in the beginning so are $8.00 each. If you want a set let me know and we can arrange them for you.

07.01.2022 First off new parts for the 500B alongside the old ones. The bright yellow parts are the new parts. These parts are now being cast and we will have them shortly, once we receive them we will package them and get them out to all. Note the correct width of the motion bracket.

05.01.2022 Time for a little update. The new parts for the 500B are all packed and we shipped out a whole lot today, you should have them in a couple of days, we still have a few to post out but that will happen in a day or so. BGM are in the process of releasing a 2 bedroom VR Departmental Residence with first off samples for a 3 and 4 bedroom residences already at the cut stage for first off samples. Ass to this our new stand alone well wagon a PacNac RRIY is ready for sale at $45.95 each. With the 500Bs we are now not holding any more kits for people who wanted one and have not notified us about what they want to do. So we are opening up all of those kits to anyone that wants a 500B at $595.00 each kit. So if you want one before Xmas get in touch.

04.01.2022 Another job done. New master for the well wagons air cylinder and triple valve. Now off to the caster for production. Keep an eye out for a new stand alone well wagon to be released shortly.

04.01.2022 It has very regrettable that due to the recent new restrictions and no time limit being set for same from the government the Macedon Ranges MRC annual exhibitio...n will be cancelled for 2021, we were all geared up for a Covid Tier 3 event and could comply with all requirements to meet same, the exhibition was to be held in it usual place "in school hall" the school have advised that they would reluctantly give permission only because we were who we are it has been decided that to be fair to the school and with the latest restriction we would cancel the exhibition for 2021, we will bounce back bigger and stronger in 2022. 04.01.2022 Update on the new replacement parts for the SAR 500B. The cross had bracket/motion bracket design is completed and the master is being etched at this time, we expect the parts here this week.Then its assembly and checking ready for casting. The new front cover and slide bars 3D drawings are done now working on the cross head and piston rod, once these are done they will go away for 3D printing by SLA, thats a 3D print using resin which gives a smooth surface, once back all will be off to the caster here in Australia to have the bits made.

04.01.2022 Am looking for a NSW 36 class, preferably a brass and white metal kit, only really need the locomotive and do not need the motor and gear box, required for a possible project. Anyone have one can you get in touch.

03.01.2022 Time for a little update from BGM as we get into the New Year. Lets start with the D1,2 & 3, it is progressing all be it slowly, getting quotes from OS suppliers is taking a lot of time and then being able to get supplies in some cases is taking an extraordinarily amount of time all due to the Covid situation. However we are progressing. The VR 2 bedroom DR will be out in a few weeks as we have now received all the parts we required so getting the instructions done and boxed... up ready for sale. Costs will be published shortly now that I have all the manufacturing costs to hand. These will be an ongoing kit but manufactured in batches. All of or loco numbers have been replenished and we can offer again any number for the R class and a competed set of numbers for the J as well, diesel numbers are all back in stock. If there is a particular locomotive number you need just let us know and we can have it done for you. Recent news released in Narrow Gauge Down under about our On30 range is that we are looking into a On30 G class garret, it is a long term project and we are taking names and contact details at this time whilst we do all the design work required, this will take around 12 months and then another 12 months to manufacture the kit. Indicative kit price would be between $1500.00 and $2000.00 per kit at this time, final price will be advised when design and quotes are completed. For those who want to register I will send out a circular to you with more detailed info on ordering and paymnet. Mean while Little Yarra is progressing and again slowly but will be completed and available before the Garret. Following the Garret we will be doing K1. So until next time happy modeling. See more

03.01.2022 A bit of long range planning here, we are working on putting together information on a Mn for SAR and will also doing a C17 for Qld.if enough interest is generated. Models in HOn3 and HOn3,5. At the same time we are working on the rerun of the SAR T and the viability of a TX. Anyone interested let us know so we can add your name to the list Work continues on SAR 620 and we have acquired some vital information that will allow us to do the design without having to measure the real thing. VR Dd, D1, D2 and D3 are all going well and we are hopeful that the first of new boilers are cast in the foreseeable future.

02.01.2022 Having been asked again if we look after BGB website or sales let me reiterate again that in no way shape or form do Broad Gauge Models, BGM, a registered business in Victoria have anything to do with the South Australian registered Broad Gauge Bodies, BGB. BGM operate from Victoria and are manufacturers of Brass and whitewall kits of Victorian and South Australian HO scale steam locomotives as well as a range of rolling stock and accessory items in plastic and brass. BGM have never had or will have any association with BGB.

02.01.2022 500B with new parts fitted with many thanks to Gary Gentle. Most of the new parts have been posted so if you have not got yours as yet let me know.

02.01.2022 A package arrived today from Shapeways in the US. These are the new bits for the 500B 3D printed in a ultra smooth plastic done by SLA. This is done by a laser in a liquid resin bath. Just need a little clean up and they will be off to the casters. They all fit together but then again I did the 3D CAD work myself.

These are brass etched numbers as is our normal practice, we also can offer a full range of etched diesel number plates and are always working on expanding out range.
