18.01.2022 I feel very fortunate in this crazy time to still be able to work in the studio. Last year I set my studio up for online remote collaboration. This allows me to record/edit/mix/master while the artist or client can hear high quality audio straight from my DAW in real time, allowing for instant feedback. Over the past couple of weeks Ive been able to work on a few projects that lend itself to this format, in particular Tim Newhouses upcoming album. Weve been able to continue momentum on the project by editing remotely, as if he was sitting next to me in the studio. The power of the internet!

13.01.2022 PreSonus Studio One v5 just released! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNrrTbcxV48&feature=youtu.be Okay, so for some time now I've been predominantly a Pro Tools user. And while I still use Pro Tools often, I've been testing the waters over the past couple of years by introducing Studio One into my workflow. More and more I find myself reaching for the Studio One icon instead of Pro Tools! PreSonus Audio Electronics is absolutely blowing my mind with how fast it is growing. I...t's one of the few companies that actually LISTEN to what users want, and then provide users with generous updates quite frequently. Studio One is an absolute monster for anything music production-related, but also mixing, mastering, and composing. It really is the best of Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase and Ableton Live combined into one fast, reliable and powerful DAW. Don't get me wrong, Pro Tools is great for audio engineering and for being an industry standard. I'm incredibly fast with it too... But Studio One is allowing me to work even faster and more intuitively across the board, particularly when it comes to anything involving MIDI/virtual instruments and production. Most features are drag and drop (a HUGE workflow boost), ARA integration, incredible sounding audio engine etc. not to mention the dedicated mastering page, which I've been using in my studio for quite some time now! With the v5 release, there is a significant improvement to features designed for composers and performers. I have a composing/orchestral template that I have setup in Studio One (the MIDI features are so fast/intuitive), and with the addition of the key switch editor, score editor, and external sync features (plus more), this will be a serious contender for any film/TV composer. If you haven't checked out Studio One before, I highly encourage you to take a look. I guarantee you there will be features and workflows that won't make you look back. #PreSonus #StudioOne #DAW

11.01.2022 Finally got to meet British pianist Gwilym Simcock in person last night after Pat Methenys incredible gig at The Astor Theatre Perth. I studied Gwilyms music and piano playing for my Honours thesis four years ago (2016), and had only met via Skype interview until now. If you havent heard Gwilyms music, do yourself a favour and check it out!!
