22.01.2022 Incident Call. At 10:39am this morning (July, 26th) Brogo Brigade was called to a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) on Little Glen Oaks road at the Brogo river crossing. Bega Group North 1 arrived on scene shortly after and found that a car had attempted to cross the flooded crossing and became stuck. Police and SES attended the scene and found that no one was inside the vehicle and removed it from the river. If it’s flooded, forget it. ... Stay safe!

21.01.2022 A major part of our grant was used to complete our concrete driveway and apron. Many thanks to Joshua Ventura and crew for a job well done.

21.01.2022 HEAVY RAIN ON THE WAY The State Emergency Service is urging coastal communities to brace for a wild weather system forming off the New South Wales coast. ...The NSW SES said heavy rain and potential flash flooding will occur today and into tomorrow, with the worst of the weather expected to hit the South Coast. SES spokeswoman Stephanie Heard is warning residents to consider their travel plans over the coming days. "Take it easy, especially seeing as it's school holidays at the moment and if you're planning to travel, plan your trip before you travel anywhere...and make sure that you don't drive into any floodwaters." You can prepare by: Move vehicles undercover and away from trees and branches Secure loose items around your home Clean out your gutters, down pipes and drains Follow NSW SES Facebook pages and Website for information For emergency help in floods, storms and tsunami call 132 500. For life threatening emergencies call Triple Zero (000). You can also keep up to date on weather changes by checking the NSW Bureau of Meterology website for warnings: http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings Plus stay up to date with traffic information at https://www.livetraffic.com/ NSW SES Bega Valley Units

21.01.2022 The 31st of March marks the end of the statutory Bush Fire Danger Period, and it was certainly a season that won’t be forgotten. With the Bush Fire Danger Perio...d closing landholders are no longer required to obtain a Fire Permit from the Rural Fire Service however it is still important to check if there are any other constraints. The links below provides some guidance to make sure everything is in place before you light a match. It is also important for all residents to realise that there is likely to be a marked increase in the amount of pile burning that will occur over the coming months. While we can understand that this may be a cause of concern for some, as long as burning is conducted according to the guidelines it does not necessarily need to be a cause for concern. Please remember that 000 is there for when a fire is threatening life or property and that in the current environment we need to be mindful of minimising the number of times we respond a brigade to incidents where there is no identifiable risk to life or property. Save 000 calls for when they are needed. https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au//124/BeforeYouLightThatFire.pdf https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au//13323/Standards-for-Pile-Burni

12.01.2022 Hi All If smoke is sighted to the west of Warrigal Mtn don't worry, it's just NSW Forestry doing a hazard reduction in the Kybeyan area. Nothing in Fires Near Me at this point. Cheers Brogo DC2

08.01.2022 We’re hearing that the wind is already strong and gusty in many areas of the Far South Coast and the forecast suggests this will become more widespread througho...ut the day. Conditions like these can often stir up pile burns that people thought were extinguished. If you have been burning recently please check to make sure it is still safe, and remember that fire permits are now required on the Far South Coast. See more

06.01.2022 Today right up and down the Far South Coast, Brigades are being called to burns that did not have any notification. Whilst you do not require a permit currently..., you MUST notify BOTH your neighbours and the Far South Coast office of the Rural Fire Service atleast 24hrs in advance... IT IS THE LAW. Notifications must go to the office, not the local Brigade. The phone number for the office is 6494 7400 and is only manned during business hours (9am to 5pm) Monday to Friday, no public holidays or weekends. Everyone should be patient when trying to get through as due to COVOID 19, the office is on reduced staffing to assist with social distancing. It is also preferred if visitors do not turn up to notify at the office in person. Please call as they are happy to take the call. Whilst we respect that sometimes you don't know if it will be a good day to light the fire until the day, the notification period is still atleast 24hrs.

03.01.2022 Mental health is so important to us all, and maintaining good mental health is at the forefront of everything we do. Today is a great reminder to all to check in with your friends, members and family, to ask the question 'Are you OK?', to listen and encourage them to take action, and to keep checking in. It's not just about the question, but also about continuing the conversation. R U OK? ... Are they triple OK? Credit to Tathra Brigade who wrote this perfectly.
