20.01.2022 Passenger and Service Announcement Brooklyn Ferry Service and our Staff are pleased to announce that we have recently been successful in re tendering to TfNSW to continue operating the Brooklyn Dangar Island - Little Wobby Beach ferry service under contract to TfNSW. A number of changes will be introduced from the 20th August as follows.... All passengers requesting concession fares will be required at all times to carry and display on request their relevant concession entitlement card, this includes all local passengers whether or not known personally to ferry staff. From the 20th August onwards, paper tickets will only be issued when fares are paid in cash, all passengers purchasing fares with Tap and Go payments can request ticketing receipts via SMS or email. (Please request receipt at time of purchase for SMS receipts issued direct from our POS system) Freight restrictions will limit carriage of goods to Personal Luggage and household groceries only (in reasonable quantities). Bicycles may be permitted, as long as their carriage does not compromise passenger safety, comfort and in all cases at the total discretion of the ferry master. Building Materials, Gardening supplies, White-goods, Furniture, Bulky Items, Dangerous Goods or Industrial and Commercial items will not be allowed on board. Alternate transport methods for these items are readily available in Brooklyn, the ferry staff can assist with recommendations. The ferry will continue to allow carriage of domestic animals in accordance with the Transport for NSW guidelines and Passenger Transport Regulations https://transportnsw.info//us/travelling-with-animals-pets The Ferry Service will no longer provide Loan Muzzles, all pet owners are required to supply their own leads and muzzles or carry cage in those cases where the pet qualifies to travel in accordance with TfNSW guidelines. The Service Timetable will be strictly adhered to, our recommendation to passengers is to make sure they arrive at the wharf at least 5 minutes prior to published departure times, to allow sufficient time for boarding and ticketing. Guidelines for further Travel courtesy and etiquette on NSW Public Transport can be found at; https://transportnsw.info//using/travel-courtesy-etiquette

18.01.2022 Cold blast tonight will cause sudden 10C drop in temperatures, maximums only 15C and overnight temperatures to fall to -2C in Western Sydney and 5C in Syd...ney City for Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Extensive frost is expected before a sunny afternoon Continental Low will bring substantial rain from Friday. More updates to follow.

18.01.2022 NSW RESIDENTS ENCOURAGED TO WEAR MASKS - NSW Government The NSW Government is strongly encouraging NSW citizens to wear a mask in high-risk settings to help pre...vent the spread of COVID-19 in NSW. Wearing a face mask provides an additional physical barrier to protect the community and help reduce community transmission. Continue to practise physical distancing, wash your hands regularly and if you are unwell stay in and get tested. For more information about the protection that masks provide against COVID-19 visit: https://www.nsw.gov.au/media-/health-advice-update-on-masks - NSW Health

17.01.2022 DANGEROUS WEATHER CONDITIONS AHEAD, DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE MORNING! A sunny Sunday morning to start. But things will change quickly... A transient eas...t coast low will bring rain, at times heavy falls to Sydney after 10am. Bursts of thundery rain are most likely in the afternoon. Rain will ease to showers by Sunday night. Widespread 20mm rain is expected but some areas can see as much rainfall dump in 15 minutes and total rainfall over 80mm in a few hours. Intense gusts of winds are possible. Wind speeds up to 110km/h in the inland, 130km/h potential near the coast. These wind speeds are likely to cause toppling of power lines and uprooted trees.

17.01.2022 Transport for NSW has today announced strict and enforceable social distancing rules on Public Transport, which will severely affect our services due to seating and general arrangement on the ferry. You will soon see a green sticker guiding you to an available seat and as distancing marks on the wharves near our boarding areas. Until then please maintain social distancing both on the ferry and on the wharves and please show courtesy to your fellow passengers. As further info...rmation becomes available, and as schools increase attendance days, we will need to convert a number of timetabled trips to "School Children Only" to facilitate school children travelling together, and we will exclude adult and non school passengers from these particular trips, there is not a passenger limit designated school trips. On currently available information we will be restricted to a maximum of 12 passengers to a trip (small family groups travelling together, allow for a minimal increment in that number but not by much) Further information is available in the two posts preceding this one which contain reference articles.

15.01.2022 You must wear a mask when you're travelling on public transport in Greater Sydney

14.01.2022 SEVERE WEATHER ALERT: A vigorous cold front with associated thunderstorms will hit Sydney City by 1pm on Thursday. Small hail is likely in the western suburb...s and sleet is possible in the Blue Mountains. A total of 10-20mm is likely across the city on Thursday afternoon. Temperatures ahead of the cold front will be very warm, reaching 26C by 12pm, but a 15C drop at 1-2pm will lead to sub 10C temperatures after the front. Be prepared for the change, bring a jumper and a raincoat and remember to stay safe.

14.01.2022 We are rapidly heading down this same route people

12.01.2022 We would like to ask our passengers that please if you are unwell, feel unwell or are isolating that you do not travel on the ferry, we are the main link to the... island and carry a wide range of age groups, at the moment mainly people in high risk groups. We are also rapidly transitioning to cashless payments to reduce the direct touch involved in handling cash, as much for our wellbeing as for our customers. We have contracted external cleaners to maintain, the ferry and high touch areas on the wharves, commencing Monday, please respect their access and any necessary wharf closures for the job to get done. Any deliveries that you organise must be coordinated with me (Rick 0448101010), we do not want to become the islands freight courier, but where essential and absolutely necessary we will assist if possible. As some of you may be aware, turnover is massively down, the ferry service is losing money each day and as a result we have had to lay off both Mason and Matt, until things return to normal. Respect each other, respect your own health, and most importantly stay at home unless you absolutely have to go out. Rick Stockley Brooklyn Ferry Service 0448101010

12.01.2022 Reminder to all passengers, daylight savings ends at 3am Sunday morning (tonight) as such there will be no 7pm service from Brooklyn tomorrow Thanks Rick Stockley

11.01.2022 1st reported local case and its on Dangar Island, do not travel if unwell or unless it is really necessary, we will be following up with Transport in morning to determine what steps are to be taken. #StayTheFuckAtHome people

09.01.2022 Get ready to pack away your thongs because the first wintry blast of the year is set to hit parts of southern Australia later this weekincluding snow in alpine... areas A cold front will sweep across WA on Friday, before moving through SA and parts of Victoria and Tasmania on Saturday, and into NSW on Sunday. The system will bring a change from balmy autumn days to much chillier conditions, with temperatures up to 10 C below average As well as snow, we're forecasting rain, isolated thunderstorms, small hail, and gusty, cold winds. So, if you're an 'essential' outdoor worker, please prepare for a significant change in temperature and conditions For those stuck at home indoors, get your reading, movie or music playlists ready, and housework chores lined up! 05.01.2022 Brooklyn Ferry Service Pty Ltd - Notice to Customers COVID 19, Service Update Dear Passengers... We are seeking your cooperation in an attempt to continue to maintain a functional service and provide a safe working and commuting environment. As a partner to Transport for NSW, we are closely monitoring the government advice on the coronavirus (COVID-19). Our top priority is to ensure the health and safety of our employees, customers and the local community. Aside from the standard caveats; being that if you are unwell, please do not travel by ferry, and that only undertake essential travel etc. We will need to make certain changes to facilitate the return to school of all students commencing next Monday 25th May 2020. Current NSW State Government guidelines for public transport usage restrict passenger loads across all transport types to a 1.5m spacing. This results in a maximum passenger load to the Ferry of 12 passengers. The only way we can address this situation is by designating the 8:15am (Dangar) and 3:20pm (Brooklyn) services as School Children only (Passenger numbers are not restricted on designated school services). Note these restrictions may also need to be extended to the 7:10am (Dangar) and the corresponding afternoon service if needed to cater for returning secondary students. All parents will need to ensure their children are present at wharves at least 5 minutes prior to ferry departure times, to enable our Staff to make determinations as to whether any of these services become a mixed adult / child service, due to available seating space / waiting passengers. On all other services we will be restricting passenger loads to 12 passengers, until further notice or guidance from Transport for NSW, we highly recommend that passengers who must travel are at wharves early, we will not be selecting passengers, seating will be allocated on a first-come, first seated basis. We also highly encourage all passengers and commuters to cooperate with each other during this period. Thanks for your understanding, Rick Stockley Brooklyn Ferry Service Pty Ltd Phone 0448 101010

03.01.2022 For the safety and well-being of our passengers and staff, and due to most recent announcements and the presence of COVID-19 in the Brooklyn area. Brooklyn Ferry Service requests that unless you are travelling under the conditions outlined in the public health order and other NSW Health notifications, that you refrain from using the service, until restrictions are eased or lifted, we will follow all directives issued by TfNSW, however unless instructed otherwise, the service will continue to our normal timetable as an essential service provider for those with travel needs. We encourage usage of masks during this time and all passengers should follow proper Covid Hygiene practices before and after travelling
