20.01.2022 An aerial perspective of the bushfire currently impacting the Great Northern Highway from Port Smith turn off to Sandfire Roadhouse in the Shire of Broome. Bush...fires in the Kimberley can be incredibly unpredictable, changing from hour to hour. With wind gusts of 70km/h forecast tomorrow, crews are working hard today on a northerly containment line to halt the spread of fire along the highway and get people moving once again. Your safety is our top priority and we appreciate your patience while the area is still unsafe. The next update is due before 4pm, unless the situation changes. 13.01.2022 On Tuesday 16/10/18 Ballidu VFES was called to see if any members were free to go on a deployment to fight the fires in Broome that was started by a lighting st...rike. We had one member able to go, Aimee Hood , who joind 12 other members from other brigades in the goldfields Midlands region. We flew out first thing Wednesday morning and got straight into in as soon as we landed. They were long hot 16-18 hr days but an amazing experience. We had an amazing crew that was able to work together perfectly. We were finally able to jump back on a plane and come home Sunday afternoon. I would like to thank everyone that was involved and even those who gave their support. It was an absolute amazing job for all involved. Hope you all enjoy these photos and you are interested in knowing any more information on what went on than were more than happy for you to comment or PM. See more
