25.01.2022 Meet Under 7 Coach, Travis Milburn, pictured here with his sons Brock and Beau. Travis and his family are valued members of our Brothers family, and we love that Brock and Beau's games are supported by a troop of grandparents, family friends and even their great grandmother there to cheer them on. Trav is as cool as a cucumber and a mad keen fisherman , a great catch for Brothers Sunshine Coast. Catch...get it? What’s your background in rugby? I’ve never actually p...layed rugby, this is my second year coaching at Brothers. When did you get involved with Brothers Sunshine Coast? 2017, Brock started in under 6s. We accidentally discovered rugby when the sign on for soccer had already been filled. Haha. Now we love it with a passion. What do you love about your team? I coach the under 7s and I love how much we are progressing. Our little team are on fire at the moment and it gives me goosebumps to be out on the field with them when they play. What’s the best thing about our club? I love that Brothers have a great all round atmosphere and everyone feels like family. When you’re not coaching Rugby, what else do you get up to? I love fishing! Which team do you support? I’m not a sport watcher but I absolutely love watching my two boys play. Makes me so proud to be a dad! Favorite Dessert? Ice Cream! Thanks for being an awesome coach, Travis. We're so glad you missed out on soccer sign on, and discovered Brothers. It's great having you on our team! We hope you had a great father's day and managed to sneak in a spot of fishing. #brothersrugbysc #rugbyfamily

15.01.2022 As a part of our Father’s Day celebrations, the club is profiling our coaches for the month of September. Today we want to introduce you to Under 7 coach and all round nice guy, Adam Myers. When not coaching his son in U7’s, he can always be seen and heard on the sidelines of the U9’s games. Never short of an encouraging word and a cheeky comment or two. Pictured with sons Ollie and Max (we’ll recruit Paige next year ). What’s your background in rugby? Started dating a girl ...from a private high school (2005) and wasn’t allowed in her house until until I could hold a conversation about rugby at the dinner table (true story) When did you get involved with Brothers Sunshine Coast? 2019 What do you love about your team? They want to learn. And the spread of different schools they go to it’s great to see how they all get along. What’s the best thing about our club? 14.01.2022 And now time to introduce one of the very original Brothers Sunshine Coast coaches, Mark Lonergan, pictured here with son Noah. Mark has been with the club since it started, and has been Club Treasurer for the last 3 years. He’s basically part of the furniture around here! Mark heads up the legendary team of coaches for our mighty Under 14’s. When did you become involved with Brothers? Quite a few of these boys have played together since Under 6’s, and that’s when I got... involved with this team, before they were Brothers. Back then they were called the Kawana Eagles. I had two boys play for the Eagles previously. So when Brothers has their first Under 6’s in 2012, that’s when I became involved with Brothers Sunshine Coast. What do you love about your team? They’re such a great bunch of boys. I enjoy coaching them. They listen, they get better and improve and that makes them a really enjoyable team to coach. What do you like about our club? The sense of community. Ever since I’ve been involved, the club has evolved and they’re a bunch of great people. It’s got a great feel about it, a great spirit. When you’re not coaching what do you get up to? Surfing, running, hanging out with the family. Which team do you support? The Reds. Brothers Brisbane. What’s your favourite dessert? Vanilla Slices and Custard Squares. Thanks for all you do for the club Mark! What would we do without you? #brothersrugbysc #bluewhiteblue #rugbyfamily

09.01.2022 Introducing Under 8's coach, Jay Dowd. Jay is Mr Cool, with one of the most energetic teams in the club, yet nothing phases him. He plays to the boys' strengths and this is testament to the team's success, with an almost unbeaten season. Well done Jay and team! Pictured here with son Benji U8 (and Zac, Under 10's). What’s your rugby background? ... Halfback for Oakhill College and also Eastwood (The Woodies!) in Sydney, way back when I was fit and could do the 100 metres in less than 2 minutes. When did you get involved with Brothers Sunshine Coast? We were looking for a club to take in the boys mid-season after moving up from Brisbane. Lucas and Paul were so welcoming that it was Brothers for us. What do you love about your team? Everything! The enthusiasm of the group and the fact they think it's funny when I get cranky with them. When a plan comes together on the field it's brilliant! It's a pleasure to see the kids growing up over the years as well as it is in welcoming new faces. What’s the best thing about our club? The family feel to it. The community of backgrounds and cultures. The support. When you’re not coaching Rugby, what else do you get up to? Nothing beats hanging out with my boys. Which team do you support? None really, I'm more of a supporter of the sport itself. If we went down to Ballymore or Suncorp, we'd be going for the Reds. But there's still a residual hangover for the Waratahs as that's where I grew up. Saying that, I followed the Brumbies for years because I liked their style and liked their halfback. (George Gregan). Favorite Dessert? I don't have a sweet tooth so skip dessert. But I do like a Galliano or Amaretto. Thanks for your time and effort put in to coaching the Under 8's, Jay! We really appreciate it! #brothersrugbysc #rugbyfamily #bluewhiteblue

What do you love about your team? The best part is the bunch of kids I’ve got on the team. They’re obviously all different sizes and shapes, but they’re all kids with good attitude. You can have some sort of impact or influence to shape who they are and the decisions they make moving forward. What’s the best thing about our club? The culture and community. I think that the best part about being part of a rugby family is that you look out for each other and people put their hand up to assist where they can as well. When you’re not coaching rugby, what do you get up to? Daddy duties. Nappies. Are you teaching the girls how to play rugby yet? I’ll teach them dance for now, I think that’s probably the next best thing to rugby. Which team do you support? Queensland Reds, and from my birth country, the Auckland Blues. What’s your favourite dessert? Chocolate. And red wine. Happy Father’s Day Charlie! Thank you for all you do for our club. #brothersrugbysc

Pierre has worked with all levels of clients from the general population to professional athletes, both in performance enhancement and injury rehabilitation. He has previously worked with the the Queensland Reds Rugby Union side and with the BC Lions in the CFL (Gridiron) in Canada. Prior to his Physiotherapy career he has worked as a personal trainer and as a Consultant Conditioning Coach at the National Sports Institute of Malaysia. What’s your rugby background? I’ve never actually played Rugby. I come from an exercise science background and training athletes, and was asked to help out last year. I’ve been studying it ever since. When did you become involved with Brothers? 3 years ago when Tallan decided to start playing rugby. We’d heard lots of good things about Brothers, so that’s why we came here. What do you love about your team? The effort put in by the kids. What’s the best thing about our club? The family atmosphere. Everyone was accepting straight away, you don’t have to work your way in. When you’re not coaching, what else do you get up to? I’m a physiotherapist at Northcoast Physiotherapy, so I fix people. We run a clinic out at Sippy Downs. Other than that, I like to work out, and keep the kids in line like any parent. Which team do you support? The Reds. What’s your favourite dessert? Baked Cheesecake. The one my Mum makes. Thanks for all you do for Brothers, Pierre, it’s most appreciated! #brothersrugbysc #rugbyfamily #bluewhiteblue
