21.01.2022 Cambridge Crescent The street Broulee Public School sits in, Cambridge Crescent is named after Cambridge Credit, the financiers of the then developers of the Broulee Beach Estate, Willmore and Randell. When Cambridge Credit for those old enough to remember went under, nearly taking Willmore and Randell with it - Ian Fraser purchased the Broulee Beach Estate. That was in 1975 1976.... Information courtesy of Paul and Sue Gillam.

14.01.2022 Woolabar Drive Woolabar Drive is named after a place in Western Australias goldfields, an area important in Ian Frasers upbringing. Ian was raised by his family in a shack on the side of a hill a couple of kilometers from Woolabar Dam in the late 1930s. Sue and Paul Gillam visited the site in the mid 1990s. They found the fireplace for the shack and parts of the walls, which were made from flattened out sections of parts of the original Mundaring to Kalgoorlie water pipeline. The spelling of Woolibar Dam seems to have changed in recent times, probably due to Woolibar Station being nearby, but in old copies of the Kalgoorlie Miner (Sept 1919 ) it is spelt as Woolabar.

13.01.2022 Eurobodalla Digital Technology Network An Invitation to Assist Interested in assisting foster the growth of the digital technology and software industry in the Eurobodalla region?... We would love to hear from you. And indeed from anyone else in the area interested It has become increasingly apparent Eurobodalla both needs and is ready to create a group like Begas COWS Near the Coast that can promote the growth of digital technology and in particular the digital and software industries in the region. That became increasingly apparent as I was assisting with the organisation of Broulee PSs very successful digital schooling conference, the creation of a network for the Far South Coast state schools, the integrated teaching of coding from the early childhood years and in the shaping the initial Bay Hackathon on November 21/22. With that in mind Sarah Cooper from the Eurobodalla Council and I would like to invite you, and any others interested to join with us at Council at 4.00 pm on Wednesday November 11 to discuss how best to create such a group. Both of us, like you can see no reason why this region should not in time have a vibrant software industry. Indeed in assisting with all the above developments, and in particular the Hackathon it became increasingly apparent that much was already happening that could be easily enhanced and built upon with better networking, collaboration and support. We have no firm model in mind but it is vital the group we create has strong industry representation and leadership and also involves key folk from the regions schools and training providers. We do hope you can join us and assist shape an apt model. Please do spread the word. If you wish, email me at [email protected] or phone 0414 405 962. It would be handy for Sarah to have an idea of how many are coming to help in the rooming. Mal Lee

09.01.2022 Zanthus Drive. Zanthus Drive is named after a railway siding on the Nullabor, on the Trans Australian railway line 210km east of Kalgoorlie. While minute it clearly left an impression on Ian Fraser who was raised in the Kalgoorlie/Boulder area, to the extent that he made use of its name in one of his companies.
