25.01.2022 What are your goals for the new year? Maybe it’s a good time to reflect upon the year and start thinking about what you would like to be doing in the new year to look after yourself. This is not necessarily New Years resolutions but more about starting the year in the right mindset and making changes accordingly.

25.01.2022 You're almost there! I hope you've had an awesome school holidays or maybe you just survived I love the start of school holidays but I also love the end when the kids go back to school. I don't know about you but my kiddos are exhausting!

24.01.2022 Today is our last day before we close for the year. While holidays are a time of relaxation and enjoyment for many, it can also be a challenge for others. We will be closed until Monday 4th January 2021. We hope you have a lovely holiday season. If you are needing support during this time there are many support options available. Please seek support during this time as needed. We look forward to continuing to support you in the new year.

22.01.2022 The power of thoughts! And the best bit is that with practice and guidance, we can also learn to gain some control over our thoughts and how they impact us. The first step is recognising the power of our thoughts. And that thoughts are just thoughts of course

20.01.2022 And we are officially back in the office after being away for several months. Thank you so much for all our clients that have tried out Telehealth or had phone sessions in order to continue your therapy. It is more important than ever to focus on your mental health and we have really enjoyed working with you online to keep that journey going. For clients that are returning to the office this week, please ensure you are ready to scan your QR code and show your vaccination st...atus. We ask that you wear a mask in the waiting room and remain outside while you are awaiting your clinician to call you into the therapy room so that we can avoid congestion. Clients can continue Telehealth if this is their preference. I know many clients have really enjoyed the convenience of online sessions. Bella is so excited to welcome everyone back to the clinic. She has been bathed and is ready to go. She will be back in the office again on Tuesdays and Thursdays. #eurobodalla #moruya #batemansbay #narooma #broulee #southcoastnsw #farsouthcoastnsw #ruralpsychologist #brouleepsychology #ulladulla #milton

19.01.2022 Repeat after me - THOUGHTS ARE JUST THOUGHTS! Now say that five times fast. Even though your thoughts are just thoughts and not necessarily true, they are still powerful and have a major impact on how you behave and how you feel. Get into a habit of regularly challenging your thinking - think you can't do it? Do it anyway - prove yourself wrong! Get into a solid habit of getting out of your comfort zone and notice what happens to your mental health and your overall mood.

17.01.2022 A little Monday funny to get your week started

17.01.2022 The holiday season can be lovely but also quite draining - make sure to take some time to recharge those batteries

17.01.2022 We all have self-doubt and it can actually be healthy in small amounts. It helps us recognise that we may not be correct, helps us know our limits and motivates us to succeed. However, in unhealthy amounts our self-doubt stops us from trying new things and keeps us from reaching our goals. If you often have thoughts with statements such as "I can't, I shouldn't, I didn't, or I'm terrible at that" then you may be listening to the Inner Critic too much. We can quiet the Inner Critic by connecting with others, learning new skills, and giving ourselves credit for the real achievements you have met. Working with a psychologist can help provide you with tools for challenging this inner critic and balancing out this self-talk so that it can be used to your advantage. Hugh Harman, Provisional Psychologist

17.01.2022 When little people are struggling, we want to provide a calm approach to help them regulate. This is not always an easy feat - remember that you are human too! Sometimes we need a break to calm ourselves before we can calm another. Co-regulation is the aim. Good enough parenting is the reality.

16.01.2022 So many conflicting thoughts and feelings - all ok, all completely normal. It’s been a tough year - make sure to cut yourself some slack

16.01.2022 I was really excited to be interviewed recently by Hannah at About Regional about our online mental health programs. There is still time to register to take part if you think that this would be helpful for you. Read the article to find out more and click the link at the end of the article to get involved. Stacy Shepherd. Director / Clinical Psychologist

16.01.2022 This graphic does well at highlighting the grey area in scenarios and that at times you can experience both ends of the spectrum. This further represents how being human will vary and that being classified in a specific 'label', 'category', or 'box' may not reflect how you are feeling or experiencing things and that's okay! Emily Kumpis Provisional Psychologist... Emily has availability for TELEHEALTH appointments from THIS WEEK! Give us a call if you would like to discuss making an appointment. #eurobodalla #moruya #batemansbay #narooma #broulee #southcoastnsw #farsouthcoastnsw #ruralpsychologist #brouleepsychology #ulladulla #milton

15.01.2022 HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Even though I think I have posted this one every year for several year I still really enjoy it #eurobodalla #moruya #batemansbay #narooma #broulee #southcoastnsw #farsouthcoastnsw #ruralpsychologist #brouleepsychology #ulladulla #milton

14.01.2022 Habits are hard to change because humans are creatures of habit. Did you know it takes up to 8 weeks for a new behaviour to become a habit? That’s why changing behaviour in therapy is so tricky. We have to purposely change a behaviour for many weeks before we begin doing it automatically. Though it may be hard, changing our behaviour may also be worthwhile if it means we are living a more fulfilled life

14.01.2022 We’ve almost made it through to 2021! How on earth are we already close to Christmas?!?! Fingers crossed 2021 is a bit more settled

13.01.2022 Some great questions to ask yourself the next time you notice that pesky inner critic telling you that you’ve failed. The way we talk to ourselves is so important for our mental health.

13.01.2022 I think this applies to all our emotions. As humans, it is normal to have a full range of emotions and this includes those unpleasant ones, such as sadness, anxiety and anger. The good news is that we can learn to manage them and sit with them until they pass. This is key for managing our mental health.

13.01.2022 Enough said! Parenting is hard and no one is perfect. Here’s to aiming for good enough parenting - good enough as a human

12.01.2022 It’s all about perspective. In any given situation, there are always different ways to think about it. If you are a half-empty kind of person, practicing changing your perspective and thinking about things in a different way can be very helpful in managing your mental health and improving mood. Stacy Shepherd Director, Clinical Psychologist

12.01.2022 Many people think that therapy is just talking but good therapy is so much more than that!

12.01.2022 Broulee Psychology is very excited about news that the federal government has finally decided to double the number of Medicare-rebated sessions from 10 to 20 per calendar year. This is great news for many clients who struggle to afford services once their initial 10 rebated sessions finish.

11.01.2022 Do you know the different parts of our brain? I tend to call them 'new brain' and 'old brain' to simplify things. It can be helpful to start to recognise what part of our brain is activated at different times. Part of therapy is starting to recognise these different parts of the brain and learn strategies for getting back to our 'new brain' or the 'thoughtful turtle' so that we can make decisions that we want to make rather than making reflective decisions that can keep us stuck in old patterns. Working with a psychologist to learn more about this topic can be very helpful so that you can change some of your habitual patterns that might not be very helpful for your mental health. #eurobodalla #moruya #batemansbay #narooma #broulee #southcoastnsw #farsouthcoastnsw #ruralpsychologist #brouleepsychology #ulladulla #milton

11.01.2022 Do you ever notice your inner self-talk can be a bit mean? Practicing helpful self-talk is a good strategy for managing your mental health.

11.01.2022 Everyone has days when they wake up in a bad mood or you just feel like you are in a funk. There are many little things you can do to help turn things around. Have you tried any of these things on a difficult day? Did you notice any changes in your mood? I know I find them helpful when I wake up in a bad mood. Sometimes I even need to try a few before my mood starts to gradually improve.

10.01.2022 How do you get yourself out of a funk? Here’s some helpful strategies to keep you going when times get tough!

08.01.2022 How often do you check in on your mental health? I think a daily check is beneficial - maybe this might be with your morning cuppa or just after dinner. It’s just a quick check in to notice your mood and overall mental health then have a think about what you are doing well and what you could add to improve things. Here’s some helpful prompts to get you started:

08.01.2022 Gratitude is a great strategy for improving mood. Often our brain focussed on all the things that aren’t going well but we can practice changing our attention to the things that we are grateful for - even if they are just the small things. What are you grateful for on this Saturday morning? I’m grateful for my morning coffee and the beautiful weather this morning

07.01.2022 Thoughts come and go - it’s not about stopping our thoughts but rather learning how to let them go, not get too reactive to unhelpful thoughts and recognising that thoughts are just thoughts. This takes the power out of them. This is a skill to practice and we all know that practice makes better.

07.01.2022 There is still time to join in for our FREE online mental health program. We are so excited to start this program on Monday. We will be discussing strategies for helping you manage your mood. If you’ve been struggling or if you’re just curious, make sure to enrol and get involved.

06.01.2022 Your self-worth should come from within - not from the opinion of others. You will never be everyone’s cup of tea so just be yourself

04.01.2022 Uh oh - I must be very old oh well

04.01.2022 Everyone’s journey is different - although chatting with friends and family can be helpful, it is important to make your own path and do what feel right for you! Be your own pioneer

04.01.2022 We are a little excited to have our clients back in the office. It's been a LONG time and we've missed everyone. WELCOME BACK to our current clients. We are still offering Telehealth for those that prefer. We have available TELEHEALTH appointments from THIS WEEK. Give the office a call if you're ready to get started and we can walk through the process. #eurobodalla #moruya #batemansbay #narooma #broulee #southcoastnsw #farsouthcoastnsw #ruralpsychologist #brouleepsychology #ulladulla #milton

03.01.2022 Often what is posted on social media is not the full story. It is usually the highlights - the good times. What you don’t see is the hard times, the difficulties. This may be difficult for those that are struggling because everyone looks like they are going really well on Facebook when this might not necessarily be the case. If you are left feeling sad or somehow less than after scrolling your social media feed, it is important to remind yourself that you are only seeing the highlight reels. And maybe it’s time to consider a social media break. Rather than scrolling, go for a walk or make some of your own highlight reels by engaging in some of your favourite activities. Stacy Shepherd Director and Clinical Psychologist

03.01.2022 Trauma is much more common than most of us realise. One of the reasons for this is because we keep our trauma hidden. But the good news is that working with a psychologist can help. We understand the complexity of trauma and help you heal old wounds.

03.01.2022 It’s feeling very festive in the office today - even Bella the Therapy Dog is getting into the Christmas spirit

03.01.2022 SELF-CARE SATURDAY I hope you have a wonderful weekend - make sure to schedule in some self-care to recharge the batteries #eurobodalla #moruya #broulee #batemansbay #farsouthcoastnsw #ruralpsychologist

02.01.2022 Self-care is not all bubble baths and massages. Have you heard that one before? Well it’s true. Sometimes self-care is challenging. It’s doing the things you don’t necessarily want to do but you do it anyway because you know it’s good for you

02.01.2022 Powerful words to keep in mind! We often attribute others behaviours to ourselves when they really have nothing to do with us and more about them.
