12.01.2022 Wise words..... Whenever you return a borrowed pie pan, make sure it's got a warm pie in it. Invite lots of folks to supper. You can always add more water to th...e soup. There's no such thing as woman's work on a farm. There's just work. Make home a happy place for the children. Everybody returns to their happy place. Always keep a small light on in the kitchen window at night. If your man gets his truck stuck in the field, don't go in after him. Throw him a rope and pull him out with the tractor. Keep the kerosene lamp away from the the milk cow's leg. It's a whole lot easier to get breakfast from a chicken than a pig. Always pat the chickens when you take their eggs. It's easy to clean an empty house, but hard to live in one. All children spill milk. Learn to smile and wipe it up. Homemade's always better'n store bought. A tongue's like a knife. The sharper it is the deeper it cuts. A good neighbor always knows when to visit and when to leave. A city dog wants to run out the door, but a country dog stays on the porch 'cause he's not fenced-in. Always light birthday candles from the middle outward. Nothin' gets the frustrations out better'n splittn' wood. The longer dress hem, the more trusting the husband. Enjoy doing your children's laundry. Some day they'll be gone. You'll never catch a runnin' chicken but if you throw seed around the back door you'll have a skillet full by supper. Biscuits brown better with a little butter brushed on 'em. Check your shoelaces before runnin' to help somebody. Visit old people who can't get out. Some day you'll be one. The softer you talk, the closer folks'll listen. The colder the outhouse, the warmer the bed. See more

07.01.2022 Ain’t that the truth !

04.01.2022 Disappointed to see a thumbs down in the local paper complaining about the maintenance of the Bruthen cemetery- specifically that the grass gets mown but it’...s allowed to grow over the plaques. There are 4 VOLUNTEER members of the Bruthen Cemetery Trust and only 2 of us, myself & my dad Howard, doing maintenance. WE ARE ALL VOLUNTEERS. Dad works 60+ hours a week starting at 4:30am every morning, and my job takes me across Victoria and NSW at a moments notice. WE VOLUNTEER to do the thankless, hard, hot, sweaty job of maintaining your loved ones final resting place and we do it with pride. In order to get the job done, we need the perfect combination of FREE TIME & GOOD WEATHER. We cannot mow, trim & edge when it is wet, especially up there as the ground holds so much moisture, the machinery cannot cope. We do our best. The lawn section requires a combination of ride-on mowing, then push-mowing around and between every plaque, then wipper snipping around every single plaque. The entire rest of the cemetery is done on a ride on. This alone takes 2 people a solid 5-8 hours, depending on the grass length, weather etc. There are monuments between which the ride on doesn’t fit, and they require push-mowing and wipper snipping- and I’ll be the first to admit I’ve been slack on that lately but I just haven’t had time. There are contact details on the notice board at the cemetery. I would encourage you to get in contact with us if you have concerns, and better yet- consider applying to become a member of the trust and give us a hand (must be a member in order to volunteer as that’s the only way to be covered by insurance). We try. We really do try bloody hard. And it’s a kick in the guts to hear that our very best isn’t good enough

02.01.2022 Charlie Chaplin lived 88 years He left us 4 statements: (1) Nothing is forever in this world, not even our problems. (2) I love walking in the rain because no o...ne can see my tears. (3) The most lost day in life is the day we don't laugh. (4) Six best doctors in the world...: 1. The sun 2. Rest 3. Exercise 4. Diet 5. Self-respect 6. Friends Stick to them at all stages of your life and enjoy a healthy life... If you see the moon, you will see the beauty of God... If you see the sun, you will see the power of God... If you see a mirror, you will see God's best creation. So believe it. We are all tourists, God is our travel agent who has already identified our routes, bookings and destinations... trust him and enjoy life. Life is just a journey! Therefore, live today! Tomorrow may not be. I loved Charlie Chaplin

01.01.2022 I'm going to make a bet, without being pessimistic, that out of my hundreds of friends, that less than 10 will take the time to put this on their wall. You just... have to copy it from my wall and paste it to yours. Then type done on my WITH WARMER WEATHER COMES MOSQUITOS! WITH SUMMER APPROACHING I THOUGHT I'D SHARE THIS AGAIN WOW-- I am making 100 of these!!! Have you noticed the Mosquitos are already out! Here is a homemade trap to help keep you and the kiddos from being a blood donor!!! HOMEMADE MOSQUITO TRAP: Items needed: 1 cup of water 1/4 cup of brown sugar 1 gram of yeast 1 2-liter bottle HOW: 1. Cut the plastic bottle in half. 2. Mix brown sugar with hot water. Let cool. When cold, pour in the bottom half of the bottle. 3. Add the yeast. No need to mix. It creates carbon dioxide, which attracts mosquitoes. 4. Place the funnel part, upside down, into the other half of the bottle, taping them together if desired. 5. Wrap the bottle with something black, leaving the top uncovered, and place it outside in an area away from your normal gathering area. (Mosquitoes are also drawn to the color black.) Change the solution every 2 weeks for continuous control. To SAVE this recipe, be sure to click SHARE so it will store on your personal page. Share. I've done this for a friend to spread Awareness of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. We lose 22 Veterans a day to PTSD. More needs to be done to help Veterans in need.
