21.01.2022 More facilities at dams and fossicking grounds will open again in Queensland this weekend. Barbecues, swimming areas, playgrounds and shower and toilet faciliti...es will reopen at Seqwater dams, lakes, weirs and recreation areas from midnight on Friday, 15 May, and Sunwater will follow suit from 6am on Saturday, 16 May. All fossicking areas across the state will also re-open to gem hunters from midnight Friday. It's another step toward the gradual reopening of Queensland's popular public spaces in our COVID-safe recovery. Remember to stay safe maintain social distancing, limit gatherings to maximum of 10 people and only travel up to 150 kilometres or up to 500 kilometres for Outback residents.

21.01.2022 TRAVEL AND SPEND FOR GOOD // If you're looking for a shopping trip with a difference this Christmas, then consider The Merry Muster. A shopping day which hel...ps rural communities, giving you the chance to source some beautiful local handmade artisan gifts, while taking the headache out of the shopping commute. The Merry Muster came about from a desire to do something tangible for drought, bushfire & flood effected regions of QLD. Its a simple but effective idea - take your Christmas shopping dollars and spend them out in an area that desperately needs some love. The muster Christmas event is Sat 5 Dec 2020 with departures from Brisbane and the Gold Coast by air conditioned coach. Tickets are $85 and includes: shopping day trip via coach, stopping first at handcraft and produce Markets in Warwick (over 80 stalls so far) and a Stanthorpe Boutique Christmas Shopping Day in the Stanthorpe main street. Ticket also includes 'lunch in the vines' at Ballandean Estate Winery and a donation to a local charity that will be gifted on the day as part of the event. The bus and the itinerary are provided, you just need to hop on and enjoy a day of country hospitality with likeminded people. Email Kristin - [email protected] to book your seat. We can't wait to welcome you here! Southern Queensland Country - SQC #travelforgood #thisisqueensland #goodtogo

11.01.2022 Warwick Art Gallery regretfully announces that Jumpers and Jazz in July 2020 has been cancelled. The decision was the most difficult that our team has had to m...ake in our 16 years of celebrating the art of yarnbombing. The pandemic and our government’s response to protect us, is not a short term issue. We are beginning to realise that the change in how we live is going to be with us for an indefinite time. We know that the creation of artworks for the festival in predominately collaborative. With the commencement of strict self-isolation recommendations, the joy of collaborating and socialising whilst making something beautiful for our festival has been quashed. Our proudest moments have been ones where people have approached their project with the number one priority being fellowship. We acknowledge that many of our fantastic Tree Jumper artists are already elbow deep in their entries for the 2020 festival. This year’s theme, Crackers, has been so popular. We look forward to 2021 to see everyone’s creative interpretations instead. All current registrations will be transferred to next year’s event. We are also happy to accept cancellations and refund the entry fee. Please email the gallery to arrange your refund. The world famous Yarntopians team, though disappointed, will focus their attention on making even more elements for their The Front Room installation. It will be a key part of our festival exhibitions program in 2021. The team is as active as always under the leadership of Gallery staff member Loretta Grayson. You can join the team by following the links on our website. They have in place several lovely ways to support each other during this difficult time. While Warwick Art Gallery is closed along with all other galleries and museums in Australia, we are still working behind the scenes to keep the arts alive and thriving on the Southern Downs. See you at the 2021 festival, 15 to 25 July.
