23.01.2022 THROW BACK THURSDAY Take me back to 1998 and my very first trip overseas, and the very first experience ticked off my bucket list ..... Disneyland! I remember as a child watching ... The Wonderful World of Disney every Sunday night on TV and it being every child’s dream to go to Disneyland, especially mine!! I was 23 when I finally got to go there (after working and saving hard and paying for myself!) and can still feel the excitement of seeing that magical castle and of course meeting Mickey and Minnie .... it was like being a child for a day! They say it’s the Happiest Place on Earth and I can say that ticking this off my bucket list certainly did make me very happy! I have since been back to Disneyland some 12 years later and also visited Disneyworld in Florida and EuroDisney in Paris, and although these were all still fun experiences, nothing compares to that very first time at the original Disneyland in LA. There are also other parks in Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Is a visit to Disneyland on your bucket list? Have you been there before? 17.01.2022 THROW BACK THURSDAY Take me back to this very day last year, when I arrived in Kenya to tick off my very own bucket list adventure, an African safari! Little did I know what amazing things were in store for me on this day that I first arrived.... There was an instant connection to the amazing people I met on the tour, including our 2 guides Newton and Murage, who we would share many incredible times together over the coming days and become close friends. There was the time a lioness sat only metres away whilst about a dozen cubs played and prounced around directly in front of us. There was the time I took a hot air balloon ride over the Maasai Mara, gazing in awe as we travelled over all of the wildlife below, looking out for The Big 5 and also seeing hippos in the river, giselles, giraffes, zebras... and then finish off with an incredible champagne breakfast right in the middle of the savannah There was the time an entire herd of elephants marched in procession straight past our vehicle, bringing tears to my eyes that I had encountered my very own ultimate bucket list moment. And then there was the time that I had a Maasai tribe and all the staff perform a special birthday tribute to me at the amazing Enaidura Luxury Camp.... an experience I will hold close to my heart forever. 07.01.2022 THROW BACK THURSDAY Take me back to 2010 when I visited Harpo Studios in Chicago in the hope of getting tickets to The Oprah Winfrey show and to see the great woman herself! ... I had sent many emails to Oprah in the lead up to my trip requesting tickets to her show and then when I was there thought I might try my luck if I just go to the studios. Unfortunately I only got as far as a purchase from the gift shop and my dream to meet Oprah was not fulfilled. The Oprah Winfrey Show went off the air in 2011 and the site of Harpo Studios was actually demolished in 2016 to make way for McDonalds new corporate headquarters. So meeting Oprah remains on my bucket list! My favourite Oprah quote: Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another steppingstone to greatness.
