24.01.2022 #tbt 02 Dec 2010 Sakki Test / Godan Test 10 years have passed since I sit the Sakki Test, beautifully delivered by Uncle @harrymitrou in a #budokan filled with more than 600 people, 4 cameras rolling, during the Daikomyosai and on Sôke's birthday...... On one side, and as captured in the photo, all the 15th Dan (@rfrancofinol @bujinkanmoryu @christian_bujin @seibukan1 @pedrofleitasgonzalez @kumarno @maximilianorosatti @antonis.mitrou to name a few) ready to create a connection... on the other side, us/me not really knowing what to expect... like 2 groups going to war, said Sensei... While sitting in Seiza and with your eyes closed you must "feel" when the person at your back delivers a downwards strike with the fukuro shinai... and move out of the way... ...in the past, this test was done with real swords... In the Bujinkan this is the test for our 5th Dan. The Sakki Test is not only an opening to the sixth sense or just a way to instinctively avoid someone behind us trying to hit us; this feeling transcends the physical perception of our senses and open our eyes to better understand the Zanshin, a constant state of true awareness where we can perceive danger within the kukan. It is a precious gift in which our human consciousness is connected to our spirituality in an instant of time that is broken by a divine connection. Every trip to Japan for the past 12 years have been a profound enrichment process in and outside the tatami.... Classes with Yukio Noguchi Sensei are fulfilled with basics from the Densho (martial art scroll) and an incredible amount of Henka (changes) at a very fast pace; but what I personally believe its an incredible skill is to make everybody in the dj laugh and to speak through his taijutsu. 05.01.2022 Ichi go ichi e One moment one encounter/meeting This is a Japanese saying that has been commonly use throughout the Bujinkan...... Celebrate... I get together with friends that I haven't seen in a long time in Japan, I celebrate seeing Soke and the Japanese Shihan on the tatami, I celebrate training with long time buyu and new friends, I enjoy chatting after class with a few beers about Budo, I really enjoy riding my bike at night time after those beers going back to the Azusa when staying in Noda, I celebrate being a guide, again, to people that come for the first time to Japan, I enjoy so many things when I am in Japan... Encounter... The pandemic this year have made us realize how dependable we are of our day-to-day activities, our morning coffee with a friend, the morning rides on the train, the: G'day mates, and the: See you laters, the social interaction that level out our positions, if you believe in that; but most importantly, we have encountered ourselves thinking more than usual at home. A few, planning the next step, organising their social and individual conjectures, thinking about the what ifs, putting together ideas, sharing with their families... Others, alone, thinking, letting go, understanding that some problems are out of the range of our actions, monitoring, meditating if you will... encountering with themselves... Maybe you are making both happening... understand that this will pass.
