25.01.2022 Interconnectedness is soothing indeed
24.01.2022 Know someone who's struggling with thinking they're a "bad" parent? Tap them on the shoulder with this gentle reminder ....
22.01.2022 somewhere out there, there is a mother - who won't judge you on your worst day.... who won't skip a beat, when you utter the words that sometimes, it all feels too much, and you want to run away. the one who understands that though the struggle is big, the love is bigger, by far. and who is never waiting for you to say, 'but i love my baby' because it is a truth mutually known, without question. and somewhere - there is a mother, who reminds you that even on your hardest days, you are enough, more than enough, for certain. who reassures you that your venting, about the figurative and literal shit of motherhood- does NOT, and could NOT, invalidate the capable mother that you are. one who will hold you, and nourish you, and fill your cup, on the days that feel too rough. who can say 'here it is' - the space, to show up, and share, with honesty, unguarded, exactly as you are. find her. that mother, the one who gets it - your motherhood ally. though it may seem a daunting task, she's closer than you think; because you can find her, not by searching around, but by looking WITHIN. she's in there, i promise. and her validation, and her praise, her acceptance, and gentle understanding, is the MOST important ally you could ever find in this motherhood existence - because it is yours, and yours alone. it is a fact, and a truth, as we walk the pathless woods of motherhood, that we ALL need reassurance sometimes. and in these moments, when we simply don't know how to carry on, we don't need to find her- that 'someone' who gets it. for we have actually become her. a mother with SELF-love, compassion, and grace. our very best mother-self, for sure.
22.01.2022 If you feel like you can’t function at full capacity right now, there are very good reasons why. Inspired by my dear friend Amy, whose conversation with me on this topic made me say Ohhhhhh. I guess I should stop beating myself up, then. (I haven’t, but I am trying.)
20.01.2022 Yeah, I know it stresses you out when I don’t stop after a little pat. I’m sorry dad but this is how I tell you that things are not OK. I know it gets on your ...nerves but I am not trying to annoy you. Stay calm if you can and think what else I might need. #fatherhood #parenting #cryingbaby #SMS4dads

19.01.2022 Today is is World Prematurity Day, a globally celebrated awareness day to increase understanding around preterm births and the pain and suffering that families ...with a premature or sick baby can go through. Every year in Australia more than 27,000 babies are born premature. We acknowledge the good work of Life's Little Treasures Foundation and Miracle Babies Foundation in this space. We also recognise the need for evidence-based, high quality treatment and care to improve health outcomes of preterm babies worldwide. #WorldPrematurityDay2020
17.01.2022 ~ PERINATAL MENTAL HEALTH WEEK: 8-14 NOVEMBER 2020 ~ Let’s Talk about Dads and Non-Birthing Partners The father’s role has changed dramatically over the past fe...w decades and today, dads are much more involved, both in the practicalities of parenting and in building their relationship with their child. However, adjusting to fatherhood, especially for the first time, can be overwhelming. Dads who become the sole breadwinner need to balance the demands of continued work performance and supportive home life on reduced sleep. Around 10% of fathers experience mental health problems in the first year, following the birth of their child and 57% of first-time fathers admit to significantly increased stress levels. The causes of mental health problems, such as postnatal depression, are just as relevant for dads as they are for mums. However, men find it much harder to seek support for emotional problems, with 43% of first-time dads believing postnatal depression and anxiety is a sign of weakness. ~ During Perinatal Mental Health Week, Centre for Perinatal Psychology is encouraging dads who may be struggling to come forward and seek help. ~ and if you know an expecting or new Dad - please ask "How are you doing?" and encourage help-seeking if needed. #pmhw2020 #perinatalmentalhealth #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthawareness

08.01.2022 . . .... . . [Image] Illustration drawn of a long haired figure sitting inside a bird cage, which is hanging off a branch. The door to the cage is open but the figure is facing the other way. Words: In my darkest days, I couldn't reach out. Let's stop telling people to reach out and start to reach in.
