24.01.2022 This year the Apex club of Biggenden have had to make the tough and unpopular decision to cancel the annual Christmas fair. Logistically it would have been ver...y difficult to comply with a COVID-safe plan. However, Woowoonga Hall are going ahead with their Bush Christmas Carols and the Apex club is very happy to support this event and to be involved with the bush bar and seafood & ham wheels! We look forward to seeing you all there on Saturday 19 December at 5.30pm for yet another successful Bush Carols by Candlelight

21.01.2022 National Convention Update and Call for National Awards 2020 Message from National President, Bethany Paterson. This year’s National Convention will be in Joond...alup, Perth, WA, 9th -10th October. Despite the uncertainty presented by Covid-19, we are still planning to go ahead with Convention, it is not just an important social event, it is our AGM, and Mick and Melinda Godfrey and their team have put a lot of work into organising this so we want to honour their efforts. Should border closures and safety issues prevent interstate travel in the weeks leading up to Convention, then we may need to reconsider our options, but at this stage it is full steam ahead and we thank you all for your flexibility during this difficult time. With the Convention date nearly upon us, it is time to submit your nominations for the National Awards. There are a number of Awards for which your Club can nominate, and you are encouraged to submit nominations for any and all categories. This is a great opportunity to show other Apex Clubs across Australia what your Club has achieved. Apexians are humble by nature and don’t like to blow their own trumpet, but receiving a National Award is a significant acknowledgement of your hard work, so consider submitting as many nominations as you can, you won’t win if you don’t nominate! Information on our awards can also be found on the Apex Australia website under ‘National Awards’ on the ‘Resources’ page https://www.apex.org.au/club-resources. All award nominations are required to be submitted to the National Awards Director Simon Grant at [email protected] by 31st August, saved as a PDF document. For more information please contact [email protected] or [email protected]. Congratulations on your club’s achievements over the past year and we look forward to seeing you and your Award Nominations at this year’s National Convention. Yours in Apex, Bethany Paterson National President

20.01.2022 Christmas Message from National President, Bethany Paterson. Dear Apexians, As the year draws to a close, it is a great time to reflect on the past year and... what a year it has been! Our year started off with some of the worst bushfires in living memory, and Apex, in partnership with the Apex Foundation, rose to the occasion and raised over $57,000, dispersed through Apex Clubs to those who needed it most. Covid-19 descended on the world, lockdowns and restrictions caused extreme hardship for our clubs, and our National Board responded by providing fee relief for all of our clubs by using reserves to fund two drawdowns. Our first ever Zoom Convention ran smoothly and the postal/electronic AGM has been completed, with all of motions being passed without the need for the default proxy votes. Thank you to all of the clubs who took the time to vote in the AGM, we need a majority of our clubs to vote for a quorum and we can’t carry out our core business without your votes. I am humbled to be officially voted in as your National President, it is an absolute honour, a huge responsibility and a fantastic opportunity to give back to this incredible Association. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our amazing volunteers who have kept our clubs running under such difficult circumstances. It has been heartwarming and inspiring to see the determination and resilience demonstrated by Apexians during these unprecedented times. Apexians have always been a source of strength for our communities during adversity, and this year our Apexians have been exemplary. I would also like to thank the National Board and the Regional Communicators for their dedication to Apex. They commit endless hours of volunteer time to ensure the proper governance of our Association, and I am very grateful for their tireless work for the benefit of Apex. Next year, we will be celebrating 90 years of Apex, and we will be holding an anniversary celebration in Geelong on 6th March, 2021. In addition, I also look forward to our National Convention in Bundaberg in October 2021. After the cancellation of so many events in 2020, these events will be a fantastic opportunity for us to gather together as an Association and enjoy some much needed Apex fellowship. I also encourage all of our clubs to actively get involved in our National Project, which is to support the mental health of our local communities. On behalf of the National Board, I wish you all a happy and safe festive season and I hope that the New Year provides opportunities for positivity and growth for our clubs and our members. Yours in Apex, Bethany Paterson National President Apex Australia

19.01.2022 A new era in Bundaberg’s premier fun run event, the Cane2Coral, is set to fire up in 2021, with Apex Region 2 taking over the reins from the Cane2Coral Organisi...ng Committee after ten years. Steph Scanlan (Bundaberg), Kaye McIntyre (Fraser Coast) and Tara Spotswood (Bundaberg), travelled to Bargara over the weekend to attend the Handover event to be officially announced as the new management for the Cane2Coral. The event is at this stage going to be ran on the 1st of August 2021 if Covid-19 restrictions allow it. This is a great opportunity as we have been handed a fantastic platform to showcase Apex as an organisation to role model to the younger generations our charitable service work while staying inline with our ideals and invocations. We are very excited for what is to come and looking forward to the event in 2021. See more

14.01.2022 Today we launched our first artist release for the famous Gympie Musters 40th Anniversary and the phone has been red hot. If you have ever thought about going t...o the Muster this is the year to do it. I have worked, set up and run many festivals around the world and this is by far the best festival experience for the family, the only one I'll let my kids run a muk and not have to be by my side 24/7. The camping is beyond any festival experience and I will put my neck on the line and say it's the best camping festival in the world. There's home made bars all over the place and the best part about the festival is the people. So friendly, I've seen one punch in 4 years and the guy apologized straight after. The police call it the dream gig. This year we brought back our poster drawing guy, what do you reckon. Get your ticket and it's $11/wk on the payoff deal. www.muster.com.au
