01.01.2022 The Qantas Group has announced sweeping changes to its QantasLink regional network amid the coronavirus pandemic with flight schedules between Brisbane and Cent...ral Queensland Airports under review. The changes are set to come into effect from late March. Brisbane to Hamilton Island will see seven return flights per week. It should also be noted that Qantas flights to Hamilton Island from Cairns, Sydney and Melbourne have been suspended entirely. Brisbane to Mackay services will reduce to 21 return flights per week. Brisbane to Bundaberg will drop back to 12 return flights per week. Brisbane to Hervey Bay (Fraser Coast) will drop back to seven return services per week. Brisbane to Longreach via Barcaldine and Blackall will also drop back to seven return flights per week. Brisbane to Moranbah will see 23 return flights per week. Brisbane to Roma flights will reduce to 19 return flights per week with Charleville having four return flights each week. Qantaslink's 'milk run' up and down the Queensland coast between Townsville via Mackay to Rockhampton, has been dropped back to seven return services per week. Qantas is yet to finalise a new schedule for some destinations including services between Brisbane and Rockhampton, Emerald and Gladstone. No time frame has been announced for this new schedule. So far there are have been no changes announced for Virgin Australia’s services into Central Queensland. In a statement yesterday, Virgin Australia said they would reduce domestic flight capacity by around 50% until mid-June. This includes the grounding of twenty Boeing B737, six Airbus A320, two ATR 72 and five Airbus A330 aircraft from their domestic fleet. The route and schedule detail of these changes across Virgin Australia, and also Tigerair Australia, is currently being worked through and will be published over the next week.
