25.01.2022 Friendly reminder to get your entries for track racing on Thursday by tomorrow evening and entries in for Saturday’s track racing by Friday evening. Enter through Buncheur for both events, if you have issues please contact Nate Etan to get the help you need. In other news you’ll hear a rumour of HPV - Human Powered Vehicles potentially using the track next year. We had a little test this week to be sure it is possible and safe enough to move forward with this, here is a sneak... peak at them going. Thank you Wayne Godfrey for helping me assess my safety concerns. There are still a handful of things that the committee with the support of AUScycling Queensland need to work out to get this project over the line but it’s definitely a great opportunity for club growth. This kind of engagement is essential to our future grant applications through community engagement and showcasing the capacity of our venue to be used for more than just cycle racing events. Hopefully early next year this aspect of our club development will be getting some traction with a little bit of luck and support of members. Thank you to all involved.

25.01.2022 In what was the smallest field of the year we saw some of our tough riders commit to a solid day out on the bike. In the seniors we saw John Hampson out sprint Keith Bainbridge to win the shortened 48km handicap with the scratch bunch 400m behind seeing Mitchell Davis pip Rob Gardner for fastest time honours in third place. Juniors racing: Harriet Mullins won the Under 13 18km scratch race from Charlie Ellem and Oliver Jowett. This was a fantastic race to follow and see unfol...d seeing every rider ride themselves inside out to get up and over those hills. Beatrice Mullins continued on her winning way in the 9km combined under 9 and 11 scratch race from Nicholas Jowett. This weekend also saw Brad and Hunter David compete in Brisbane with Hunter coming home with another third place. Great effort to Brad Davis and Hunter Davis competing down there. Next road race will at Bucca Hills starting at 2pm. Nominations by 1.30pm or by sms by 12 noon to 0437 717883. If you are available to help with the day please make sure you contact Graeme McKenna by Thursday morning. In other news our lighting upgrade is likely to begin this week OR at the latest next week. I will keep you posted by Facebook should the velodrome be inaccessible for training. We are also finalising/readjusting our Kevin Brogden Bundaberg Velodrome Covid-19 plan after this weeks announcement from state government. This will be ready prior to the first track race of the season. Remember If you feel unwell OR have been in a Covid hot spot region recently please dont come to racing or club events.

25.01.2022 Brad Davis is racing at Metros Hunter will be on after. https://www.facebook.com/cyclingqueensland/videos/3259178650974426/

24.01.2022 Get excited and bring along your gold coins (the treasurer forgot to organise the float) We are pulling out the big wheel and having a couple of spins tonight. You could win 1 of 2 hams up for grabs in the Ham Wheel.

23.01.2022 Racing update: Last Saturday Harriet Mullins won the Under 13/15 24km scratch race from Charlie Ellem. Cruz Kemps won the Under 11/9 12km scratch race. ... Wayne Morden outsprinted to win the 48km handicap from Kerry Bainbridge. Sean Cox rode away from his co-marker to finish third and fastest time. For the road race next Saturday we will start at Foleys Road starting at 2pm. Numbers racing have been down a little lately. With this weeks race being close to Bundaberg it will be great to see racing numbers increase again as we near the end of the road race season. Please note: This could be the last road race we host till the Wide Bay Cup in October if racing numbers are not sufficient as we are entering in to track racing shortly and volunteer resources are minimal to support small fields at road racing. Nominations by 1.30pm or by sms by 12 noon to 0437 717883.

22.01.2022 Were looking for people who would be interested in attending and gaining the world food handling registration for community organisations. Bundaberg regional council have a course running this Thursday and again in December. Please PM the club if youre able to help out in this area. https://formstmp.bundaberg.qld.gov.au/MD-7-407.pdf

21.01.2022 Entries are all due tomorrow evening - Friday 26th November 2020 for this months Saturday track racing event. Be sure to register through the buncheur registration system to help our handicappers and commissaires prepare for the day. Bring all the kids as Santa’s got himself organised enough to make a guest appearance (our BCC kids might well be the first group of Bundaberg kids to get a Santa visit for 2020). I can guarantee Santa and his elf are revved up and busting to be there. Full details of feature races coming tomorrow.

21.01.2022 November Monthly Saturday Race was an awesome night for the club and showcased what country racing is all about. Thank you for everyone who participated in one capacity or another or in multiple capacities to make it all happen. It was great to see our track racing friends from Rockhampton Cycling Club come down and compete and it was awesome to see new riders come and have a crack at track racing from Fraser Coast Cycling Club for what will have been either their first or s...econd time competing on the track scene. Only one incident for the night and we wish Will Cho all the best with his recovery. The feedback from spectators, competitors, parents, volunteers during the night was really overwhelming and for those of you that came up personally and acknowledged the feel and atmosphere of the club and the evening it is truly appreciated. The feedback is generalized across the roles filled from committee members, our volunteers that make weekly racing and training sessions possible, the condition of the track grounds (grounds keeper), the Santa factor (fair to say he nailed it but it was the slowest 200m i've ever seen on that track) and even competitors noting how good the quality of racing was on the night. What I'm trying to say is thank you to everyone for the bits and pieces you do. In the event I don't get to see you all before the end of the year (I've got things to do, places to be) I really hope you have a great Christmas and New year period. Don't forget there will be on going club racing every Thursday ending on 17th December 2020 so get along and knock out all those calories before Christmas.

21.01.2022 100 LAPS - 4:30 Start

20.01.2022 Have you ever wondered what age bracket you fall in to with your race licences etc? Cycling Queensland has emailed me a direct link to a new section on their web page to help parents and competitors understand a little clearer what age category they belong to. If you are finding youre unsure of anything in the future and if its something thats a little tricky to explain I will get Cycling Queensland to try and set something up for everybody thats clear and easier to understand. Please familiarize yourself with this. https://cycling.org.au/qld/what-my-racing-age-category

18.01.2022 Sorry to announce but in recognition of rider safety we are cancelling todays racing. Another wave of showers are drifting through the Bundaberg area as we speak and the rain radar looks a bit dodgy for the remainder of the day. See you all next week. Have a safe and enjoyable weekend everyone.... Thank you. The committee.

15.01.2022 News in today from the Cunningham Classic sees Rob Gardener Triple S Track coming home to Bundaberg with a very impressive 4th place in the Masters B category. Rob went in a break away from the 30km mark and was able to stay away from the main group. The break away group got to about a dozen riders after they picked up a group that took off from about 10km into the race. Its not often the break away comes home with the prize but geez its awesome when they do succeed Congratulations Rob, very impressive effort.

15.01.2022 In what was our last official club road race for the somewhat bazaar 2020 Road cycling season we were treated to some fantastic racing conditions on one of our favourite circuits at Foleys Road. In the Under 13/15 24km scratch race we saw Charlie Ellem win from Harriet Mullins with Oliver Jowett coming home in third place. In the Under 11/9 12km scratch race we saw Cruz Kemps take line honours from Beatrice Mullins and Nicholas Jowett. The junior racing scene sees a mixtur...e of results week in week out and always interesting to see unfold. Keep up the efforts legends. In the 48km senior road race we had all sorts of challenges with John Hampson managing to come back from a couple mechanical problems to contest co marker Wayne Morden for first place. In the honour for fastest time Mitchell Davis showed his strength to ride away from co scratchman Brody Allison who is returning from his nasty accident at state championships to finish 4th and Fastest. Final placings were: 1. Wayne Morden 2. John Hampson 3. Aaron Kemps 4. Mitch Davis Track racing is back this week. The next two weeks will most likely see us racing Saturday afternoons until the lighting upgrade is completed. The lighting upgrade for the Kevin Brogden Velodrome is in the region of $130K and will benefit every facet of the cycling community in our region. The lighting is looking awesome so far and we are looking forward to providing cyclists the opportunity to compete under lights in the cooler evenings over the summer as soon as it is completed. Racing at Kevin Brogden Velodrome this Saturday: Nominations: 12.30 to 1.00 Racing Start: 1.30 Racing Finish: 4.30 Juniors: $5 and Seniors: $10 Minimal Canteen snacks and drinks will be available to purchase. All competitors must have a current CA licence and present the licence for viewing at race sign in. We have been working hard with developing the skills of some new young cyclists who will likely be there Saturday. Please be sure to welcome them and help them out if required. Thank you to Austin Allen for working with these young novice riders over the past five or six weekends, its always great to see people contributing to our clubs growth. Special Notes: In line with Covid 19 and general safety we are asking people to park on the road side and enter by foot to the Velodrome unless you are involved in the setup of racing OR the canteen. This will aid us with registering attendees and at the same time provider a safer area within the Velodrome area for children. See you all Saturday.

13.01.2022 Of recent times weve had a couple amazing members of the club chipping in to access such as these kickstart grants among others. Thank you David for making this one available to our club and a huge thank you to Jacinta Jowett and Amy Lawley for your efforts in the background getting some of these applications across the line.

13.01.2022 Final gradings for tomorrow’s racing will be posted on this page mid morning. Please keep an eye out for them to be released. Thank you.
