25.01.2022 12 October 2020 17:58:04 Fire Call - Truck Fire Bundeena Dr X Maianbar Dr This evening Bundeena RFB responded both appliances to a truck fire at the intersection of Bundeena Drive and Maianbar Rd. Upon arrival, crew in breathing apparatus along with FRNSW and Maianbar RFB extinguished the fire which was contained to the cab. ... Thank you to members of the public who waited patiently while the road was closed. However, there was one motorist who decided to verbally abuse our volunteer members due to the road closure. Being locals ourselves, we fully understand the inconvenience of the road being closed and will always do what we can to get traffic moving as soon as it’s safe to do so. This kind of behaviour is not acceptable and a report was lodged with attending officers from NSW Police.

12.01.2022 On this day last year, NSW experienced some of its worst fire danger ever recorded at the time with Catastrophic fire danger forecast across the Sydney, Great...er Hunter and Illawarra/Shoalhaven areas, leading to widespread school closures. Fire danger ratings are an important tool to help you make decisions about what to do and under these conditions, your only safe option is to leave early. You can learn more about the fire danger ratings, and check the rating for your area each day, at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fdr See more

09.01.2022 Although a complete contrast to conditions we experienced this time last year, bushfires still do happen.. The first step to preparing is a bushfire survival plan, which can be easily found at rfs.nsw.gov.au or if we can assist feel free to contact us via the page or drop in and see us at station. Bundeena how are you preparing ?

09.01.2022 As we prepare to farewell 2020, we wanted to share the story of one of the many people who this time last year were facing terrible fires. Jim, who lives at Bat...emans Bay on the south coast, lost his home in the fires on New Year's Eve. You may have seen him sharing his story in our TV commercials, so others can learn from his experience. After the fires, he wrote poems to help his recovery. Jim says he and his mates didn't dare to use the words 'Happy New Year' last December. This New Year's Eve, our thoughts are with Jim and all the people impacted by the fires who are continuing with their recovery. Remember - help is available. Lifeline 13 11 14 Beyond Blue 1300 22 4636 For NSW RFS members, you can contact the Critical Incident Support Services Team or the Member Assistance Program for free support.

08.01.2022 Members attending the station this evening found these little guys hanging around the station. Apparently our State Operations Comms intercepted a message from our 1 Alpha Tanker to Santa telling him that all the boys and girls have been good and can stay on the nice list. Good to see that they also conducted a few equipment checks for us as well while in the station. We hope that all in the Bundeena/Maianbar community have a safe and Merry Christmas and enjoy your Christmas Eve tonight.

A Lexus has been towed from Audley Weir this afternoon (24/3) after it was left submerged in ...water for several days when its driver attempted to cross the flooded crossing. An assessment of the roadway will be undertaken prior to opening.

05.01.2022 It is with much sadness that we advice of the cancellation of our Christmas Eve Santa Run for 2020. Due to the growing COVID cluster in Sydney, the NSW RFS has raised its response to level 2 for the Greater Sydney area. This means that RFS Brigades are restricted to essential activities only and as a result, our Santa Run on Christmas Eve is cancelled. This is the first time since our Santa Run commenced that it has had to be cancelled. We apologise to the Bundeena community for the cancellation and inconvenience this may cause and we look forward to 2021.

01.01.2022 On this day 43 years ago, local firefighter Leslie Delarades of Menai Brigade lost his life fighting a bush fire near Old Illawarra Road, in the Menai area. The... Koba Road bush fire burnt out over 400 hectares damaging properties in the area. On the same day, a fire burnt out 375 hectares in the Croston Road area at Engadine, also damaging property. The temperature on the 16 December 1977 reached the high 30’s. Seven significant fires occurred locally during the 1976/77 season, with the largest fires burning in the Woronora Dam/Waterfall, Yarrawarrah/Bundeena, and Holsworthy Training Area. We are thinking of Leslie’s family, friends and colleagues today - paying the ultimate sacrifice protecting the community.
