25.01.2022 The AGM was held today at the Bundaberg SES building. A good turn out, with social distancing rules observed and Zoom Video conferencing provided to those not able to attend in person. Welcome to new member David, who spoke about his interest in radio and was invited into the club..Welcome. Ross VK4JRO (President) gave a speech that summarised a year of radio events that the club participated in, bringing back lots of memories and also reminding us all of the difficult year ...2020 has been. The outgoing management of the club stood down and was reinstated unanimously as the nominated members were voted back in. Ross VK4JRO (President) David VK4DN (secretary) Marge VK4FHAM (Treasurer) Committee members Issac VK4NEU Darrall VK4FABF Dan VK4OH. 23.01.2022 Had a play on Saturday afternoon in the 2020 VHF/UHF field day from the top of MT Watalgan, approx 45klms NE of Bundaberg. My 4wd wasnt available, so was an interesting drive up in the wet with my partners CX-5 for those who know the track. Unfortunately there was no ducting conditions and no sporadic E for the 6m band and only managed to find 3 contacts. (UHF/VHF contact with VK4DN David and a VHF contact with VK4FDJB Joe)... Was still a nice afternoon out, fresh air and a picnic with great views Dan VK4OH

23.01.2022 This was a fun weekend! :)

19.01.2022 Bundaberg Amateur Radio Club held a promotional day at Jaycar Bundaberg store today. Thanks to Mark Mason, manager of Jaycar for providing the club the area to display, was awesome to meet and greet and to support an awesome electronic business. Thanks to all those that were able to attend and to the public who visited. We demonstrated HF radio with a low slung end fed wire, Adriano projects, short wave receiver, cb radio, 2m and 70cm IRLP to various interstate and international locations and even unlocked a member of the public $700 scanner that he had managed to lock up.

18.01.2022 This weekend is the 24hr Remembrance Day Contest, commencing at 1300hrs Saturday 15th till 1300hrs Sunday 16th August. The contest is in honour of all those who gave their lives in defending our shores, especially ham radio operators. If you just want to answer a call, give the station your call sign, a signal report (usually just 5/9 for contests) and exchange the numbers of years you have had your license.. ie if you were licensed in year 2000.. your number would be 20 (20 ...years ) If you would like to enter the contest here is the link to rules and logging contacts etc. https://www.wia.org.au/members/contests/rdcontest/ Good fun to see how many contacts around VK, NZ and Papua New Guinea you can get. Cheers. Dan VK4OH

17.01.2022 Here is a short video from our Ubobo weekend

17.01.2022 Nightshift anyone? Our Mt Goonaneman repeater site lost power and survived on battery back-up for quite a while. Eventually they also petered out so it meant a trip up to the Mountain on Tuesday night. The upshot was.. thankfully its NOT our equipment! A mains fuse on the 11,000 Volt transformer supplying our switchboard was faulty (it may have been a hornets nest).... Ergon Energy was called to fix it, after cleaning it up and testing that there was a reliable connection, our power was restored. A most sincere thank you to Ross VK4JRO & David VK4DN for giving up their evening and travelling there, calling and waiting for the repair crew... then staying on to reboot & test all our equipment. The club is indeed lucky to have these members who put themselves out for the good of the club, and all those who use the repeaters. Next time you see them, buy them a soft drink, and say thanks. :-)

16.01.2022 Hi everyone- you might have noticed recently that we have been experiencing some interference from Bundy Sugar on our Mt Watalgan 70cm repeater - so Ross VK4JRO built a notch filter and tonight after work, Ross, Isaac VK4NEU and myself traveled up the mountain to see if we could fix the problem! After checking the existing filter with a spectrum analyser Ross discovered it had failed and put the new one in its place- Everything then tested ok! so after a quick re-program of our VK4RBW repeater station to optimise for the new IRLP node we packed up and came home! Thanks Ross! (you did an amazing job!)

16.01.2022 Once again David vk4dn has set up a display at the Tegege Yesteryear Rally. The display again has some new and old gear on display One day down, another to go, so if you have time tomorrow go for a look and support David and the Radio Club.

15.01.2022 Wow! What a difference we made! Today Ross VK4JRO and David VK4DN travelled up the mountain to our Repeater station VK4RBU on Mount Goonaneman to mow and whipper snip the grounds - see the before and after photos !

08.01.2022 Its August; a huge month for the Club and Amateur Radio in general. This weekend is the RD Contest. RD is short for Remembrance Day and a weekend where we remember all the Radio Operators who serve in times of war. (The date is important too.. its the commemorative date for ceasing hostilities in the Pacific in WWII). Typical of Hams, weve turned the weekend into a 24 hour Contest and points are awarded for each contact made.... If youre on HF you can tune around and find a lot of traffic as operators get on-air to make contacts today and overnight. This year we have a club event at Buxton, and here are the first pix from the overnight adventure. In the images are Gary VK4MDZ, Ross VK4JRO and David VK4DN

02.01.2022 September Monthly committee meeting via Zoom. Planning future events for your club and making sure the behind the scenes continues to run smoothly. Got to love technology as one of the members even attended via phone link from their beach campsite..

02.01.2022 You may think Amateur Radio is an old hobby... and youre right of course, but.... Bundaberg Amateur Radio is clearly focused on the future and while were very conscious of staying safe, staying at a distance and watching out for each other, we still have club business to attend to. Enter your Management Committee using Zoom Video Conferencing to hold the most recent meeting. ... Thanks to you all for still hooking up, and running our club. Heres a screenshot of the meeting... They all look pretty laid back and we hope theyre all wearing pants hahaha. :-) :-) An interesting aside, when we updated the club constitution a while back we added clauses to include "using appropriate technology", (instead of posting out letters!!!). Who knew just how important seeing other people, and truly engaging with them, would become.

01.01.2022 Here are some photos from our weekend adventure at Ubobo near Gladstone! The Bundy club did Comms for the Trail Riders weekend with a couple of checkpoints... we had young Chris from Gladstone VK4FBDR and Len VK4WAL from the Rocky club - also Isaac VK4NEU was there thanks everyone for a fun weekend

01.01.2022 In September 1961 the club was formed, and to celebrate our 58th Birthday we created a display in the Library (thanks to the Bundy Library staff for giving us space for a 2 week static display). We placed our banner there and used the glass cabinet for the display. The 4 shelves begin with Morse (where it all began), then we give viewers some idea of radio gear, QSL cards, Foundation Training as well as a little about WICEN and our HABE project.... We even created a QR code to take interested people direct to our website and placed Club business cards in a holder for people to take away. Thanks to David VK4DN and Gail VK4ION for creating the display to showcase the club. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to us.

01.01.2022 The Bundy radio club had our mid-year social dinner at The East End Hotel tonight! Everyone enjoyed a nice meal and drinks and had a great evening chatting about life, radio and the universe!
