24.01.2022 Perhaps the misconception about lack of parking availability in Bungendore may be the immediate inconvenience of not being able to park directly in front of the place you want to go in to. Bungendore on a glorious Spring Sunday 12.30pm, bustling as it is not.

22.01.2022 We must retain this space for all the reasons mentioned in this article.

21.01.2022 Saturday 12.30pm

19.01.2022 Wonderful to see - visitors to Bungendore buying coffees and lunch from local cafes and sitting at the entry to the Village Green, spending time in Bungendore and then off to explore more. This is what is needed for Bungendore.

18.01.2022 Where a car park should go in quiet Bungendore, which we know will be a thriving, bustling, energetic yet restful Bungendore with the preservation of the adjoining Village Green space. It will be bustling with markets, a wedding photo shoot location, big breakfasts, wine tasting, fairs or just relaxing with your lunch or reading a book - the possibilities are endless and the boost to our local businesses, invaluable .

17.01.2022 Another bustling Bungendore day Sunday 12.35pm There will no doubt be busy days, but there can be so much more than intermittent busy days. Bungendore could flourish and be bustling with activity but something needs to change and that change is not in the form of a 140 approx car park to cater for the intermittent busy days. ... The possibilities are so exciting for Bungendore and its businesses and community with events, fairs and all the other things that come with Village Greens (and car park combined).

15.01.2022 THE REGIONAL 'INDEPENDENT' Publicity for the green space. We have not wanted to highlight a concerning issue in regards to our local Regional Independent newspaper but having seen the feature in last weeks issue lauding the 2009 Frogs Hollow concept plan, we had to point out that none of the communities letters in relation to saving the central business Village Green have been published. The editor has made clear she does not support the concept.... Our paper is a platform to inform the community of the progress but we have been blocked from doing so. #notindependent

14.01.2022 A Motion has been proposed by our Mayor to defer the tender for construction of a car park on the central green space - Village Green - in order to consider alternative proposals. We welcome the Motion because it puts the use of the space back in to the public arena. Whilst none of the proposals achieve the outcome we are looking for - it is a start. We maintain that for the revitalisation of Bungendore's business community and for the social health of community generally, a...Continue reading

14.01.2022 WHO VOTED WHICH WAY Against a review of the greenspace and in favour of 2 acres of car park. Cr Schweikert ... Cr Harrison Cr Trudy Taylor CR T Hicks We will elaborate on the reasons against a review by the councillors separately.

14.01.2022 Village Green Layout How it all works. How it all flows. How it links the three precincts together.... How it keeps vehicles and pedestrians separate, and How it provides so many opportunities for Bungendore's businesses and economy and for its community. Priceless.

13.01.2022 Those gardens open up so many possibilities for community events such as long table lunches weddings Christmas and Easter Fairs. The possibilities are endless. Share what you would like to see there

10.01.2022 Intoxicating is the scent from the two crabapples leading in to the Village Green And simply beautiful - an asset to Bungendore.

09.01.2022 Spring 12.59pm rush hour on a Saturday post school holidays. Where are those hordes of visitors that those few pro-140-lot-carpark-advocates keep mentioning?

08.01.2022 The buzzing vitality of a car park in Bungendore. If the green space is allowed to remain and the car park shown is expanded to include the land behind 15 and 17 Gibraltar Street - then this whole area WILL be a hive of activity - something everyone wants. A stand alone car park will only ever be what it is - dead.

08.01.2022 A photo of Bungendore's coast road, packed as it isn't, at 1.30pm on a Sunday at the start of the school holidays. This is why we need the green space, we need to have events in central Bungendore which will encourage people to visit Bungendore, stop, walk around and to spend their money in local businesses. So many buildings, occupied less than ten years ago when the car park space was first mooted, now stand empty.... As Cr Michael Biscotti said, it is time to change things - it time to look for opportunities. The green space and car park being proposed as an alternative to a car park only is not revolutionary. It is a tested and tried phenomena world wide that a place to hold functions, create a buzz - works. It is just plain common sense.

07.01.2022 Malbon Street Bungendore, Saturday 11.30am We wish we had a parking problem.

07.01.2022 The beauty and scent of these crabapples is spectacular. One is the softest pink and the other is cerise. We are so fortunate to have such trees in the heart of the village. Please take the time to visit this beautiful space, relax and listen to the birdsong. Our information table will be set up tomorrow and we would love you to visit.

07.01.2022 LANDSCAPE PLAN In addition to the written submission, a landscape plan was also lodged. This plan shows how the space can be used. The opportunities this presents for business and community is enormous and cannot be underestimated.

06.01.2022 Bustling Bungendore On a Saturday at 12.00pm on a beautiful Spring day on a long weekend. All the best ingredients for visitors to Bungendore. All wonderful...with the exception of bustling tourist visitors stopping to wander around the village. ... Vehicles are certainly travelling through, but unless they have a reason to stop..travel through is what they do. A vibrant village green spilling over with functions, events and all that comes with a pretty setting in an historic village will encourage people to make Bungendore a day destination. This is what we need - a combined green space and car park - not two acres of baking concrete which will do nothing to encourage anyone to stop.

06.01.2022 Saturday in Bungendore Bumper to bumper traffic - not so much.

05.01.2022 A workshop was held today to discuss options for our Village Green Space. The workshop was restricted to Councillors and staff but submissions were permitted. Following is a copy of our submission.

02.01.2022 Spring is springing on the Village Green and the magic of this space is happening. Bees buzz, birds sing and flowers bloom. So incredibly beautiful.

02.01.2022 THANKS FOR YOUR ONGOING SUPPORT BUNGENDORE Since about April, via a number of consultative processes we have undertaken, the campaign to save Village Green and reduce the car park footprint has gradually gained traction in the community and a groundswell of support from here and further afield. Signatures gathered at onsite information table 850 (and rising) To retain the gardens and re design a smaller car park. Signatories are from Canberra, Queanbeyan, Sydney and regional NSW. NO ONE supports demolition of the gardens and construction of a approx. 160 space car park.

01.01.2022 SUBMISSION TO COUNCIL On the 9th September, Tim Overall proposed a motion that offered two alternative designs to the two acres of car park currently proposed. The motion was amended by Cr Mark Schweikert who wanted any design referred back to the Bungendore Town Centre and Environs Committee (BTCEC) - of which Cr Schweikert is a member. The amendment was passed and then the only Bungendore representative, Cr Schweikert - voted against his amended motion, ensuring it would c...ome back to him for a second refusal when it is referred to the BTCEC - a clear conflict of interest. The BTCEC committee has consistently voted in favour of building the car park on the approx two acres - so asking them to review any alternative concepts is a clear conflict of interest when the outcome is already predetermined. We are grateful to the councillors who are supportive of the review as well as the Mayor. We need this valuable green space for Bungendore's long term commerce - the thinking needs to change to a commonsense approach, and some forward thinking councillors are doing that.
