20.01.2022 Following on from the recent easing of restrictions in rural Victoria, Physiotherapists are now able to see patients for "Essential Care" only. This relates to conditions where an absence of treatment is likely to result in a significant deterioration. Please feel free to contact us if you are unsure if you fit the current criteria. Stay safe and well

12.01.2022 This is a great summary of a very complicated problem

11.01.2022 Blast from the past , nearly 16 years ago !!!

11.01.2022 Dear valued clients, It is with deep sadness that we have decided to temporarily close our clinic as of Friday 27/3/2020. You are no doubt acutely aware of the massive changes that are occurring within our community as a result of the COVID 19 virus. To date, we have been continuing to provide physiotherapy services to our community members, with adherence to the strictest infection control measures that are available to us. Unfortunately, given the anticipated increase in in...fection rate, and the recommendations regarding social distancing from the government, we no longer feel certain that we can provide a safe environment for you or our staff. Additionally, some of our clients and staff may be at increased risk, and it is for these reasons that we feel the responsible action to take is to hibernate the practice. Our intention is to provide a resumption of services as soon as we believe it is safe to do so. In the meantime, we will be initiating online video consultations (Telehealth) within the next week or so. Whilst there is obviously no capacity here for hands-on techniques, we can conduct interviews and assess relevant movements to diagnose the problem. Following this, we can discuss management options including provision of appropriate exercises, and other strategies to assist your recovery. We will also continue to be able to refer you for investigations or to your medical practitioner if appropriate. If you do have a problem for which you might normally visit a physio, it is well worth considering an online visit, particularly during these unusual circumstances. If you’d like more information on these services, please feel free to call our clinic number- which will divert to my mobile phone, and I will email more specific details. We encourage all our clients to stay safe, adhere to social distancing, wash your hands regularly and importantly stay connected to friends and family (even if it is by phone, facetime or skype) as we need each other more than ever at this difficult time. Finally, keep moving and try to maintain general fitness walk, run, practice yoga, meditate or whatever you need to do to keep your mind and body as healthy as possible. We hope you all stay safe, and we can get through this challenge. Steve will be available by mobile phone or email, so whilst our physical door is temporarily closed, we are still here for our clients! See more

08.01.2022 Please note our temporary hours, while Steve is away working on the Gold Coast.. sorry for any inconvenience

04.01.2022 Do you have Foot Pain, and want to be involved in a study at Melbourne Uni. Read more here..

04.01.2022 EXERCISE IS AS GOOD AS SURGERY FOR DEGENERATIVE MENISCAL TEARS OF THE KNEE !!Brand new study published in British journal of medicine demonstrates that exercise is equal to surgery (partial menisectomy) in middle aged patients with degenerative meniscal tears of the knee. The article is attached, but here are the nuts and bolts:140 patients randomly assigned to surgery or exercises therapy All have degenerative (not traumatic) meniscal tears on MRI with no Osteoarthriti...s.Average age = 49 years (35 - 60 years)Exercise group = 12 weeks of exercises 2-3 sessions per week ( included ex bike, squats , resistance band work, hopping drills, leg press in the gym- so we are talking serious exercises here!!) Results: They measured reported knee symptoms / function at 2 years (using a questionnaire called KOOS), and knee strength at 3 monthsIn both groups, at 2 years the reuslts were the same (80% had greater than 10 point improvement on the KOOS score), and the exercise group had significantly greater muscle strength at 3 months (and at 12 mths followup). The surgical group had reduced muscle strength at 3 months (and only slightly improved on pre-op strength at 12 mths). The exercise group also reported less swelling, restricted movement, and mechanical symptoms (catching pain etc) at 2 years follow up.This is great evidence to show that you can make a real difference with a structured rehabilitation program and may be able to avoid surgical intervention. However, as with all research, there are some limitations, and each individual case needs to be assessed for suitability, and monitored to ensure this approach is appropriate. Your Physiotherapist will be able to provide you with the best advice on a program thats suitable for your needs. See more

01.01.2022 Make it mandatory for radiologists to include epidemiological data in their scans! Where do I sign the petition?

01.01.2022 Well my week working in the athletes village at GC 2018 came to an end yesterday. I have had an incredible experience, treating some wonderful athletes from so many different countries and across a wide range of sports. It has also been a privilege working alongside a large team of experienced sports Physio ‘s. Now I’m looking forward to coming home and getting back to work.
