10.01.2022 I wanted to share this beautiful review here for a few reasons. First of all to acknowledge that these are difficult times for all of us, and even more so for others. I struggled quite a bit during the first lockdown, and thats why I wanted nothing to do with making masks, which I saw only as a reminder of the negativity surrounding us. This time around, Ive decided to focus on the positivity. If you cant fight it, embrace it. I realised that if we have to wear these mas...ks day in and day out, we might as well turn them into something positive, something we like wearing, with beautiful colours, made out of ethically sourced natural fabrics. Ive been spending every day and night sewing these masks, without a break, but Im still enjoying making every single one of them. Im appreciating the colour combos, Im checking all the stitches, and posting probably way too many mask videos on my stories, because I cant help wanting to share the beautiful side I see of what our new normality is with others. This review here, reminds me that all the work Ive been putting in has been worth it. If I can make you not dread going out wearing a mask, if seeing the colours youve picked for your mask or feeling the soft linen when you put your mask on, if your little ones actually like their masks so much that they wear them around the house, its been completely worth it. I wish I could get the orders out faster, and trust me Im doing my absolute best to do so, and thank you so so much for your patience. 05.01.2022 This morning I woke up to the smell of smoke. It was so strong I seriously thought there might be something burning around us. I walked and checked around the house. Then I called Shane whos already in the city for work. And he said its the same there. The smell of our burning nation is all around us. The sky is grey and heavy. My instincts make me keep going outside to smell it. To check if its still there. To make sure its not our garden burning, or there are no flames ...I can see. It smells like someones putting out their barbecue in the next house. My brain just can not accept that whats burning is not right next to me, its hours away, and its so big, so terrifying that the smoke is here burning our eyes. Then how do you hold your tears back? When youre trying not to put your kids in the same stressful state youve been in for days now? Its not easy deciding how much information to give them, and what to hold back. They know Australia is burning. They know people are in despair, theyve lost their homes, their belongings, their animals, and some of them their loved ones. They know animals are burning. Theyre hurt, injured, scared. And they know most of them are dead. They see me crocheting pouches until my fingers are red and sore. Every time I finish one they clap and get excited. Then they ask me to show them pictures of little rescued animals in crochet pouches others have made already. So they can imagine how the ones Im making will be used soon. They can smell the smoke this morning. And they can see the tears in my eyes. And I can see the fear in they eyes looking up at me. They know theyre safe. But they also know no one really is. Thank you to all my friends who have messaged me to ask me how we are, and if we are safe where we are. Thank you to all my friends who have asked me where they can donate, how they can help. Thank you to everybody who is waiting on their orders and understand that Ive stopped working on the orders at the moments so I can spend all my spare time making crochet nests, sewing Joey pouches, bat wraps, and anything else I can send over to wild life rescuers. - Cont. in comments - @dayle_appleton See more

People have died, half a billion animals have died, people have lost homes and many animals and people are terrified and injured. We feel helpless but were determined to do everything we can so here are a few ways of how you can help and what is needed now. 1) Donating Money - if you can spare a few do...llars the following organisations need your help.... The RFS Vinnies Bushfire Appeal Wires WWF Bushfire Rescue Wildlife Victoria Koala Ark Salvos The Red Cross 2) Donating Clothes and Belongings. Many of us have things we can give but who do you give to? Many charities actually dont want us to donate right now. An organisation called Givit helps to control the management and distribution of goods so they end up in the right place. I've just listed two huge bags of clothes but you might donate pet beds, generators etc. This is a great opportunity to see how your things can help others. Note: they must be in good condition. If you wouldnt wear it dont donate it. There are places like H&M that take old clothes and recycle them. 3) Helping animals - they need water and our help, they really need our help. We are utterly devastated by the wildlife loss. A few bowls of water in the garden can really help the birds, lizards and native animals- make sure it's not so deep small animals can't get out. If you see any injured animals call your local wildlife rescue immediately and check pouches to ensure no joeys are in there. 4) Ask for help on social, encourage others to donate and help, shout about our plight from the rooftops. Write to your MP, express your feelings and demand change - we need the Government to step up and recognise climate change is a problem and they simply need to do more.
