24.01.2022 More glorious rain. Now total is 75mm. Our mountain is transformed. Thank you

20.01.2022 The markets are coming up! We had to miss the markets last month (although the rain was very welcome!), so this month’s markets will be bigger and better than ever! There’s still plenty of time to get your Christmas shopping done early. Choose the perfect present for friends and family members (or just for yourself!) from amongst a huge range of locally grown produce, crafts and handmade goodies. And enjoy some fresh air, sunshine and interaction with native wildlife while y...ou’re at it. Don’t forget to drop into Poppies on the Hill Café for a coffee or a tasty meal either or bring a picnic so you can really enjoy the great outdoors. See you there from 9.00am to 2.00pm this Sunday 29th November. #thisisqueensland

19.01.2022 We’re entering the low season pricing period! Now is a great time to come and stay at the Bunya Mountains, as the period from 1st November to 23rd December is one of our low season pricing periods. Not only does this mean that there’s usually more availability of our homes, but you’ll also be able to secure one for a cheaper price. Make the most of this chance to secure an off-peak holiday the serenity of the Bunya Mountains will be all yours to enjoy. (Please note that mi...nimum stay is for two nights, and the low season midweek discount excludes school holidays.) #thisisqueensland

19.01.2022 Have you heard the green catbirds at the Bunya Mountains? Here at the Bunya Mountains, we have some weird and wonderful bird and animal species including the green catbird. These birds are renowned for their unusual call, which sounds rather like a crying baby or like a wailing, growling cat. But while their calls might not be the most uplifting, the green catbirds are beautiful if you happen to catch sight of one. With speckled, emerald green feathers and a deep red eye, these striking birds make for some great photographs. Catbirds belong to the bowerbird family (although they don’t build bowers), and their genus name (Ailuroedus) literally means ‘cat-singer’ or ‘cat-voiced’. Keep an eye (or an ear) out for them next time you’re up! (Thanks to Graeme Toft for the great photo.)

16.01.2022 15mls of rain in the last 24hrs on Bunya Mountains, Misty, cool and very refreshing to see everything looking amazing! We're ever so grateful #bunyamountains

13.01.2022 Things to do at the Bunya Mountains visit the Cedarvale History Cottage When you’re next up here, make a visit to the Cedarvale History Cottage to find out about the history of the Bunya Mountains and the lives of the timber cutters and their families who used to inhabit the area. Cedarvale is open from 10.00am 3.00pm every Saturday and Sunday (market days and long weekends only) and is manned by volunteers from the Natural History Association. There’s a lot to see there, and it’s well worth a visit. #thisisqueensland

12.01.2022 Sick of technology running your life? The Bunya Mountains offers the perfect technology break! If you’re sick of your kids constantly having their heads buried in technology, get them to the Bunya Mountains. With patchy reception and very limited internet access, it’s the perfect chance to put your devices down, disconnect from the rest of the world and talk and interact with each other. They may even end up enjoying it! And with so much to do and see here, why wouldn’t they? Find a great property here: https://bunyamountains.com.au/accommodation-search/, pack some games, activities or sporting gear and get set for a fun, family break at the Bunya Mountains. #thisisqueensland

12.01.2022 Another 44mm. Total 75mm. Rainforest is smiling and food again for all. Thank you

12.01.2022 The flame trees are flowering! The flame trees have burst into glorious red flame, and are starring the rainforest with flashes of brilliant scarlet. The bare, deciduous branches seen throughout winter have burst into an explosion of fiery red flowers that command attention. They’re an absolute sight to see at the moment, throwing waves of spectacular colour through the cool green of the rainforest. #thisisqueensland

11.01.2022 Wake up to these views! Imagine waking up to a leisurely breakfast on your very own secluded deck, with sweeping views over the rainforest and down the valley. You might be visited by friendly birds or wallabies, just to make the whole experience that little bit extra special. If it sounds idyllic, that’s because it is. And it’s a reality for many of our properties, which feature decks with glorious and serene views. With over 100 properties available, you’ll be able to choose whatever view you would like to wake up to. Then all you have to do is sit back and enjoy. 10.01.2022 Are we related? I think so. Well hello there then cousin may I share your drinking hole today. Would love to share it with you as we are from the Ptilonorhynchidae Family and the family has 20 species in eight genera. And we are just two of them and live in the beautiful Bunya Mountains. Thank you Peter F for being there at the right moment and taking the quick snapshot. #regentbowerbird #satinbowerbird #bunyamountains #birdwatching #thisisqueensland #nature

10.01.2022 No bunya nuts this year Every few years the bunya pines produce a bumper crop of bunya nuts, but sadly this year is not one of them. We were lucky enough to have a bumper crop in both 2019 and 2020, but bunya nut production has slowed right down now, so you may not find too many around when you come up to the mountain this season. Not to worry though, this is a natural cycle, and the trees will produce plenty more nuts again in due course. And you can still enjoy a refreshing, scenic and enjoyable holiday at the Bunya Mountains, with plenty to see, do and experience here!
