21.01.2022 CHRISTMAS NOTICE It's coming to that time of the year when we get lots of phone calls enquiring about kittens. We here at Burabylla and Ashbury catteries will not let anyone to adopt one of our babies leading up to Christmas day.... Christmas day itself can be a very noisy and busy day. This is not an ideal situation for introducing a new furry member of the family. It is also just before a lot of people go away on holidays. To help a kitten settle into a new home, it should be a quiet environment without a lot of hussle and bussle. Therefore, for a number of years now, we have not allowed kittens to go to new homes during the period of December thru to late January. This is so that the kitten arrives in a good environment and people are settling back down to begin the year at home. It also means that we don't allow kittens to be adopted as Christmas presents that are placed under a tree. Adopting a new kitten is something that must be thoroughly considered by all at the new home. When everything is considered, and you are ready to adopt a kitten, then the wait until late January is well worth it. You can still choose a kitten and place an secured order, but you will actually get the kitten in late January, unless other arrangements are made. Every year, the Animal Rescue services, such as the RSPCA and Animal Welfare League, receive way too many unwanted Christmas presents, or people have not considered all the responsibilities involved, such as vet care or where their new pet will be cared for when they go away on a trip. Please take this into consideration wherever you are looking to adopt a kitten into your family.
