08.02.2022 Happy Australia Day!

31.01.2022 Please help. $500 Reward Hello, as most of you would know my sister and her families beautiful Labrador Nala went missing. It is now day 5 and there has been n...o sign of Nala. We have searched the property time and time again, searched the bushes, the dam, the streets, the properties surrounding their home, had the drones out day after day. Nothing. There was only a gap of maximum 30 minutes where Nala was not seen and as Nala is a large Labrador, she doesn’t get too far. She would of heard us all calling her. Nala has been with my sisters family for nearly 10 years. She is the most spoilt family member. She is more than a dog, she is one of their own family members. The heartbreak they are going through is so painful to watch. I have to return to NSW tomorrow and am unable to continue to help them look for Nala, but I’m begging everyone to please share this photo/ post. If each person shares this there is opportunity for so many others to keep an eye out for Nala or they may know something that can help bring Nala home where she belongs. Please just share it. They need Nala back with her family where she belongs. She would be so scared as she has never been away from them. Nala went missing In Farnborough but could be anywhere now. $500 reward See more

15.01.2022 Take a stick, leave a stick: The beachside 'library' for dogs! Full Story: https://ab.co/3zCdCI5 While street libraries have become common in recent years, es...pecially throughout the pandemic, a similar trend is emerging for dogs. Sha Lang has created a "stick library" on Mulambin Beach near Yeppoon in central Queensland. The specially marked spot has a collection of sticks for dogs to play with and hopefully return or leave one of their own. 13.01.2022 Friday Fact: Diets of Dogs. Ensuring a balanced diet is utterly important in maintaining a healthy dog. We are seeing an increase in 'grain-free' food which is ...becoming more and more popular. One of the side effects of these diets is Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM). This is a disease in the muscle of the heart that causes a decrease in the ability to pump blood around the body, leading to heart failure. The disease is genetically common in larger breeds such as Great Danes, Boxers and Dobermans but also commonly seen in Cocker Spaniels. Signs and symptoms of DCM include lethargy, weakness, weight loss and sudden collapse. Roy, a one-year-old Australian Cattle dog, presented to his regular vet after he collapsed at home and began convulsing/shaking for about 30 seconds. He was discharged 4 days later, but deteriorated quickly and collapsed after chasing a ball. His owners rushed him to VSOS where he presented with an increased heart rate, was extremely lethargic and his demeanor became increasingly dull. Dr Sara Ravicini performed multiple tests and he was placed on an ECG monitor & given medications to control the irregular heart rhythms observed. He was diagnosed with diet-induced Dilated Cardiomyopathy and had been fed a diet of ‘’Grain-free’’ food which is becoming wildly popular for dog owners. These foods contain a high proportion of peas, lentils, seeds and/or potatoes in various forms. Recent studies by the FDA have shown that over 90 percent of dogs with DCM were being fed diets listed either as grain-free or zero grain. Roy was treated in our intensive care department with Intravenous fluid therapy, specialized medical treatment and close electrocardiogram monitoring of his heart for five days. We are so pleased that he is now doing so much better and is back to being a bright, bouncy one-year-old puppy with his family at home! The pics below show Roy at admission, and then 5 days later at home https://loom.ly/-q9mIVA
