25.01.2022 This Awesome group of Girls entered the State Champs with only seven players, as Zandi fell and broke her arm two weeks before. During their second last game, Holly sustained a broken wrist from a hard fall. These two girls still cheered on their team mates for their last game. Our U12 Sports Power Burdekin Wildcat Girls last game was for 9th Or 10th in the State, against Gladstone Power. With six girls playing and our two injured players cheering them on, they went out fighting. Bringing home a convincing win 70 - 37. Finishing 9th. These girls have gained vital game experience and life lessons. They have definitely shown maturity greater than their years. Awesome job girls. A special thank you to John Bonnano (Coach) and Shannon Pirrone (Manager) for your dedication and commitment in nurturing our junior side. Fantastic Work!

22.01.2022 Have you been past our courts recently? While the kids have been busy at Representing our club, there have been lots of works underway.. outside seating gone, Earthworks for drainage, electrical and plumbing, fill to level site, removal of old air conditioning unit and repairs to the roof. Start to season will be delayed a few weeks. Keep an eye on Facebook for registration day info.

22.01.2022 Tough day at the Courts today for our Sportspower U12 Wildcats. The boys came up against a tough Red City Roar outfit first up. They boys came out strong and took an early lead. Red City fought back with the lead changing numerous times throughout. Despite giving it their all the boys went down by 4 points (52-48) in a game that could have easily gone either way. Next up was Mackay Comets. Looking to redeem themselves from this mornings loss our Wildcats came out hard. A few unlucky calls saw Mackay draw away eventually taking the game 59-47. Great to see so much improvement in this boys 12 group under the guidance of Brett, Brhee and Belinda. Some great basketball on the court and great friendships off the court!

21.01.2022 Burdekin Wildcat U18 Boys played away in Mackay at their second QNJBC last weekend. They had some very tough games this carnival. Narrowly winning against Mulgrave Magic 66 - 65. This was the Boys only win this Carvival. They played hard against Cairns Stingers (74 - 61, 63 - 44) and Townsville Lightening (89 - 56) but just couldn’t swing the momentum their way. They did show great improvements in their second match against Cairns Stingers. As always the boys showed great sportsmanship and determination. More to work on before Cairns in early December.

21.01.2022 Mixed results for our Sports Power under 12 Boys Wildcats today. The morning began with a convincing win with the boys defeating Townsville Sparks 61 - 31. This afternoon saw us go up against a strong Southern District Titans team. Boys fought hard right to the end but unfortunately went down 60 - 27. Early start in the morning - lets see what Day 3 brings. ... Go Wildcats!!!

20.01.2022 Day 3 U12 State Championships - another eventful day for U12 Sports Power Burdekin Wildcat Girls. First game today was against Mackay. The lead see sawed a few times, however our little Cats fought hard to bring home the win 55 -37. Their second game was against the Bundaberg Bears. What our girls lacked in height, they made up for in spirit, fight and determination! Unfortunately, one of our girls sustained a major injury. Leaving the team with six to play the three quarters... of the game. Foul trouble for two, in the dying minutes of the second half, left Four players on the court once again. This with 1 minute 30 on the clock and a tied score line. Tough defence and a three point swish from Makayla Pirrone, brought home the win for Burdekin. These girls are proving that they truely have that Burdekin Wildcat spirit.. Banding together against adversity, putting their heads down and getting the job done. Last day tomorrow. Girls with a playoff for final State positions on the ladder. Go Wildcats! See more

06.01.2022 Day 2 - U12 State Championships. Today the U12 Sports Power Wildcat girls showed us that they have great integrity. They were strong, resilient and determined. Their first game was against Southern District Titans. The girls held the lead until an unfortunate incident changed the momentum of the game. The girls never backed down, but couldn’t pull the lead back their way. Final score was Wildcats 37 - Titans 45. Their second game was against SWM Pirates Gold. The girls came o...ut to play! They lead the first half. The Pirates raiding the lead in the third quarter and then in the fourth quarter our girls were in a whole lot of foul trouble. Two players off, then three, then four. This left Andy Eathorne, Holly James and Tahlia Lammon on the court against five. This with five minutes to go! These girls held their head high.. Defended fiercely and they not only managed to stop the Pirates running away with points, but got the ball down the court and score. In the last two minutes, Andy Eathorne joined her team mates on the bench with five Fouls. Yes that’s right! Two Wildcats left, Holly James and Tahlia Lammon. These girls Defended, attacked and never gave in until the final buzzer.. Wildcats 34 - 43. SWM Pirates. They might not have won the game, but they certainly showed what they are made of! Super Proud of them! Bring on Day 3. See more

03.01.2022 Our U12 Sportspower Burdekin Wildcats Boys played off for 9th or 10th in the State, against Southern Districts Trojans White this morning. Our Wildcats came out fighting and led the whole game with the final score of 41-29. Finishing 9th. These boys have come such a long way since their QNJBC campaign mainly due to the hours of training they have put in over the last few months and the dedication and commitment of their coach Brett. Keeping 10 under 12 boys in check and tryi...ng to bestow his vast basketball knowledge at the same time is no mean feat!! Thanks again to Brhee for all your organising behind the scenes and Belinda as well for all you’ve done over the last four days. These boys really have had the best time this week. Go Wildcats

03.01.2022 Girls were first up this afternoon. They took on Redcity Roar at 5.20pm. The girls learnt that things don’t always go your way.. losing 2 of their seven to fouls. They went down to Redcity 51-27. The Boys came out fighting. Taking it to Gold Coast Breakers. The lead changing several times, until the Breakers got a roll on in the last quarter. Gold Coast Breakers defeating our boys 41 - 27. Both teams played hard. Both learning that winning isn’t everything, but it’s how you rise after defeat that defines you. Tomorrow is another day. Go Wildcats!
