14.01.2022 Burdekin Shire Council and the Burdekin Library are very humbled and excited to be welcoming His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland to Plantation Park next week for a very special First 5 Forever Storytime. His Excellency will be reading 'Gavel finds his Place,' a picture book about the real-life journey of Gavel: too friendly to become a police dog, he found his calling happily greeting guests at the official residence in Brisbane of The Queen's representative, the Queensland Governor.

Seniors Embracing Technology is back in 2021! Sessions will be held on the first Tuesday of every month at both Burdekin Libraries, with the Ayr branch at 10am and the Home Hill branch at 2pm. ... This picture book tells the real-life tale of Gavel, who despite starting his career as a police dog, is now the official Vice-Regal Dog at Government House.
