05.01.2022 About the Portrait Festival The festival is presented by Burleigh Tourism with the support of our very own local artist Basilia Luculano (Basiliart) and the City of Gold Coast. The Burleigh Heads Festival 2016 is a new and exciting initiative developed to showcase beautiful Burleigh and to highlight its cultural diversity in the art and food scene. ... The competition and art trail will focus on a selection of portraits chosen to be showcased at cafés and restaurants in central Burleigh for a period of 8 days. It will showcase established and emerging artists with works being hung in the many cafes and restaurants in Burleigh allowing them to also provide the best culinary delights for the duration of the festival. Over an 8 day period, the town and shops will become the galleries and visitors are invited to follow the exhibition trail and also encouraged to vote for the people’s choice award. The artists chosen will be responsible for manning their site in conjunction with the café owners for the period of the exhibition and also for the installation and de-installation of their art works.
