20.01.2022 A really big thank you to everyone that's registered so far. We're delighted with the response and support for our event in these difficult times as we recognise many familiar names in our participant list. While everyone is welcome to visit Burnie and complete our 10km loop on our local Coastal pathway if you can't make it we really urge you to use recreational locations rather than roads and highways.

18.01.2022 Where are you doing The Heritage Burnie Ten or RACT 5km this weekend? In Ulverstone an approximate 10km out-and-back course may start at the main Leven Bridge, travelling along the pathway through Ottos Grotto, Bicentennial Park, the Beach Road pathway out along the Coastal pathway all the way out to where the path meets Maskells Road. For a 5km out-and-back course you may start at the main Leven Bridge and follow the same route but turn about 100 metres past where Buttons Avenue meets the Beach Road.

18.01.2022 Consider a great local event - 10km, 5km, 2.5km and 1km distances - in Devonport next month.

16.01.2022 The Heritage Burnie Ten will be a virtual event in 2020. Burnie City Council Mayor Steve Kons said Due to the COVID-19 public health uncertainty surrounding large-scale public-participation events like The Heritage Burnie Ten in the months ahead, the race will go virtual this year. Race fees for both The Heritage Burnie Ten and the RACT Burnie 5km will be reduced with registrations opening from September 1, 2020. Registrations will remain open until race weekend, Saturday O...ctober 17 and Sunday 18, 2020. Once registered, athletes will receive a confirmation email with a PDF of their race bib attached. Registered participants will then complete (and time) their race on the race weekend, choosing either the distance of 10km or 5km. The course location is at the participants choice, it could be anywhere, at any time, during that October weekend. When the distance is complete, participants will then be invited to submit their time online and race medallions will be awarded. For some participants, there are positives aspects of a virtual race. It can provide the perfect stepping stone to a live event and help individuals build the confidence they need to enter a mass-gathered race when restrictions ease. Virtual races also offer a flexible alternative to traditional races at a lower cost without the constraints of having to race on exact dates and at specific locations.

15.01.2022 The foreshore sign near the Burnie Surf Club. A lot of places have pedestrian-friendly areas to train without having to worry about vehicular traffic. We urge you consider making use of those areas and avoid running on the road where possible. Youll also get to say hi to a lot of other runners/joggers/walkers as the days stay lighter longer (and hopefully warmer).

14.01.2022 Congratulations to our lucky Connections charity team who won the McDonalds Family Restaurants Charity Challenge random draw and nominated City Mission to receive the $1000 donation. The $1000 will go directly towards City Missions City Kitchen in Burnie. Pictured at the presentation today at McDonalds Burnie were (l to r) George and Lindsay of the Connections team, McDonalds manager Brianna, City Missions Gail and Jacqueline and David of the Connections team.

Runners will be invited to start at Devonport's Don Cricket Club, run to Coles Beach and return to beat the train. Brian estimates runners may have to maintain a 4:17 minute kilometre pace over the 7 kilometre course to better the locomotive. Visit www.everydaylions.org

04.01.2022 Some more photos we recieved from The Heritage Burnie Ten action last month... including a few of our volunteers. A big thank you to all who helped us - the photographers, the service groups, the individuals, those out on the course and those who work behind the scenes preparing for the day. An event like The Heritage Burnie Ten engages over a dozen different organisations whose members freely give up their time to allow this race to go ahead. We simply could not have the day without you! Also big shout out to everyone who participated in our race and spared time to acknowledge our helpers with a smile, thumbs up or a wave - whether it be SES, pacers, water stations, whoever... your gestures are appreciated by everyone and make our day!
