15.01.2022 Good evening everyone! Have you purchased your Aaron candles yet? Head over to www.burntsoycandles.com.au I just wanted to share this beautiful letter I received from Maxine, former CEO of SIDS and Kids SA. ... On the 8th July 1979 Aaron Leigh Hoffmann died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 11 weeks. To his parents, Judy and Ian, the loss was devastating, and to his extended family a huge shock. Aaron’s cause of death was determined as Cot Death which is now known as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. In 1979 no one knew what caused it. Over 50 babies died that year in South Australia. Judy was determined to find out why Aaron died and she knew that the answers would come from research. She set out to raise funds for SIDS and Kids not only for research but also to provide support for bereaved families. Judy established a SIDS and Kids auxiliary in Whyalla and became the local media contact for the organisation. She became a peer support worker providing parent to parent support for families and liaising with health professionals and emergency response people in the local area. She was also the local promoter of safe infant sleeping practices that were learnt from the research she helped to fund. This education program has saved the lives of over 1,500 babies in South Australia. Her fundraising activities often supported those being conducted by SIDS and Kids in Adelaide and for years she ran the Beautiful Baby Competition and Toddler of the Year Competition at Westlands Whyalla. Judy was also an entrant in the SIDS and Kids Community Achievement Awards and assisted local entrants in the Miss Telethon Quest. With the assistance of her mother Margaret she ran many local fundraising events and activities and sold thousands of raffle tickets. She was also the Red Nose Day co-ordinator in Whyalla and undertook this role for 28 years. It is hard to know exactly how much money Judy has raised for SIDS and Kids as it has been raised both directly and by events she has managed. A conservative estimate could possibly be in the vicinity of $500,000.00. SIDS and Kids has always been appreciative and grateful for her commitment to the organisation and recognised this with a Life Membership a number of years ago. Judy can feel justly proud of the huge contribution she has made in saving babies lives over the last 40 years and it is a fitting tribute to her son Aaron who shared her life for just 11 short weeks.

08.01.2022 This year would’ve marked the 40th birthday of my cousin, Aaron Leigh Hoffmann. Aaron tragically passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) at 11 weeks of age. His death sparked a fundraising journey for his mum, Judy, who wanted to raise funds for research into SIDS to help prevent other mothers and fathers from experiencing a similar loss. With the help of Lisa and Alicen from SIDS and Kids SA, we have conservatively estimated that with the help of her mother Marg...aret, family, friends and her community, Judy has raised over FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS and counting. This monumental achievement has helped SIDS and other families enormously. Recently SIDS and Kids SA become independent to ensure that more money stayed in South Australia. With no government funding money raised through fundraising and donations is more vital than ever to ensure the research and support provided can continue. Therefore, in honour of Aaron and with Judy's blessing we have created 2 limited edition candles. $5 from every candle sold will be donated to SIDS and Kids SA. Aaron’s candle is fragranced with Angel Wings as a remembrance for a little boy taken too soon. Our ‘Thank you for supporting SIDS and Kids SA’ candle has been fragranced with the aromas of black raspberry and vanilla as a remembrance to all children and their families affected by SIDS.
