24.01.2022 Under the bow of a boat there is an underwater pressure zone/wave. Dolphins can surf on this under water like we do on a surf wave. Notice how they are not swimming but cruising and playing with the pressure wave. I have seen it many times. Really cool video.

23.01.2022 Riviera Raft Up with Burrunan as the stage anchored inside the raft. Burrunan goes Fishing, Camping, Touring, Sight Seeing, Party Functions and now a Floating Music Stage for R Marine Jacksons. Our little Boat gets around !!!!

22.01.2022 As part of our 'Vessels and Burrunan dolphins' research project, we have been lucky enough to spend time observing these gorgeous creatures in their natural env...ironment. Here is a snippet of our time on the Gippsland Lakes. With only 63 resident endangered Burrunan dolphins living in the Gippsland Lakes, there is a need to manage the impact that humans have on the dolphins. The full video will be available soon on our YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCE1kOpN_TP0PlamRyzeIiYA . . . . #gippslandlakes #burrunandolphin #endangeredspecies #conservation #research #dolphin #dolphins #porpoise #australia #mammal #marinemammal #marineconservation #marinemammalconservation #environment #nature #seeaustralia #wandervictoria #visitgippsland #buzzfeedanimals #exploreaustralia #australianadventure #EastGippsland #InspiredByGippsland #australiaroadtrip #australiabound #australianwildlife #australianholiday #loveourgippslandlakes #wild

11.01.2022 Burrunan reached a milestone today, She has traveled 720 Nautical Miles since we put her into service. That is more than sailing from Sydney to Hobart. How cool is that !!!

10.01.2022 Just after sunset tonight, and against a run-out tide, a pod of around 20 Burrunan dolphins made their way slowly through the entrance and headed up Reeves Channel towards Metung. At Lakes Entrance, 19th June 2019.

09.01.2022 The dolphins have been such frequent visitors to the waters around Bullock Island over the last few weeks - these are just a few of the pics taken over the last couple of days. At Lakes Entrance on the Gippsland Lakes, 15th - 18th October 2018.

08.01.2022 We were fortunate enough to catch up with about 40+ of our resident Gippsland Lakes Burrunan dolphins! They were super interactive today and we were able to bui...ld upon our knowledge of habitat use, calving rate and behavioural assessments. #burrunandolphin #dolphinresearch #marinemammalfoundation #gippslandlakes All approaches/footage is undertaken following animal ethics and research permit. 07.01.2022 Must be nearly that time of the year when the itinerant males and juveniles from off-shore join the resident population of Burrunan Dolphins in the Gippsland Lakes. These guys will be amongst them. Pic courtesy of Araluen Park Cottages from late last year.

07.01.2022 The Captain tracks down Bruce Harris, father of the legendary Shark Cat. Bruce built his revolutionary cats for Harbours & Marine, the Water Police, Navy, Air S...ea Rescue and Fisheries. Hes crafted cats for drilling rigs, the Coast Guard and TV networks. His cats are used for passenger transport, commercial operators and the recreational market. Hes even built a couple for drug smugglers! Unwittingly, of course. Not content with just building boats, Bruce also raced his cats, even winning a world title in one of his creations in 1980. Yep, its been a pretty busy life for the almighty Bruce. See more

06.01.2022 One of East Gippslands great walks - the Entrance Walk, takes you to where the Gippsland Lakes meets the sea, and sometimes you will see the unique Gippsland Lakes Burrunan Dolphins at play. At Lakes Entrance, 11th December 2018.

06.01.2022 Wow, Just read the latest "The Captain" boat magazine. A wonderful feature on Bruce Harris. A true legend in the marine industry. He built Burrunan which we own and operate on the Gippsland Lakes out of Paynesville with Bulls Cruisers. Wonderful to see him recognized in a national magazine.

05.01.2022 What an amazing Burrunan dolphin Autumn survey so far. We have noted at least four new calves in the small population of resident Burrunan dolphins in the Gipps...land Lakes. We use the nicks and notches along the dolphins dorsal fin to identify each of the mothers. Occasionally the calves will have lasting foetal fold marks along their body and we can use those to identify the calves, until they gain some nicks. We can use all of this information to understand population viability and identify areas of calving significance for the population.
