25.01.2022 It is worth reading this article to understand the far-reaching impacts of the changes to the Transport Accident Compensation Scheme being proposed by the Victorian Government. These changes have the potential to effect every Victorian. If the devastation of losing a loved one to road trauma is not enough, these changes will see grieving family members left without support or recognition for their losses whereas currently that exists.

24.01.2022 "You are not a Melburnian until... you experience a hot air balloon flight over Melbourne with Global Ballooning (in the Burt & Davies hot air balloon)"... :)

21.01.2022 We are seeing more and more people injured in accidents caused by mobile phone use. Texting while driving is so much more dangerous than merely talking. All road users should be concerned about the proliferation of smart phones and their use by car drivers - and its not just young people who do it. If everyone sounded their horn when they saw someone using a mobile phone while driving it might help stop it happening - imagine the noise though!

21.01.2022 Having returned this week from a break over the Christmas/New Year period our batteries are recharged and we have enjoyed getting back into the swing of things. We hope all our friends and clients (both past and present) had a relaxing and enjoyable time with their own family and friends. We are looking forward to a big year, being our 10th anniversary, and are excited about the prospect of helping all of our clients move through to the next phase of their life. The first public holiday long weekend, the Australia Day long weekend, is upon us already. We hope everyone enjoys the weekend but above all, drive safely and stay safe on the roads.

19.01.2022 Please Read: Can You Assist? A Call to Witnesses On Monday, 11 April 2016 at approximately 11.00am an elderly woman was seriously injured whilst travelling on a tram. The incident occurred in Brunswick, on route 19 at the Sydney Road and Moreland street stop. It occurred on the city bound tram. The woman, our client, had recently boarded the tram with her husband.... She was a daily tram commuter. On the day in question she described the tram taking off very abruptly and in an unusual manner. As a result, she fell against folding seats and then to the floor, striking the left side of her body and landing on her back. She suffered a fracture of her left wrist and has required ongoing extensive treatment and rehabilitation. She now has a permanent disability and is incapacitated for many of her daily activities. Our client recalls a number of people "yelling out" to the driver to stop after the incident. She was obviously badly injured and in extreme pain. A good samaritan came her assistance, staying with her until the ambulance arrived and contacting family members to advise of the situation. The gentleman who came to our clients assistance gave his name as Anthony Kidd. He provided a mobile number and indicated that he had witnessed the entire event. Unfortunately, the number provided is was either taken down incorrectly or is no longer connected and he has not been able to be contacted. We are endeavouring to contact Mr Kidd or any other witnesses to this incident. As police were not called to the incident there is no formal record of witnesses available. We require further information and details concerning the incident to assist our client. We are hoping that through FB and/or social media, with shares and good will, that we might be able to locate Anthony Kidd or any other witnesses to this incident. We hope to speak to witnesses about the circumstances on the day. This could be vital to our client possibly recovering some compensation for what she has been through and her losses. Please feel free to share this post and potentially help us find the witness that assisted our client on that day or any other witnesses present on the tram. Your assistance could be vital. If you witnessed this incident or have any information, please call our office on (03) 9605 3111 or tollfree on 1800 109 940 during business hours. Thank you

18.01.2022 Okay, so maybe we have avoided any suggestion that we are blockheads in the past, but after last night we are now self-proclaimed "Blockheads"! Episode 30 of the Block, Budget Blues, aired last night with the four teams desperately working to deliver their kitchens this week. Early mornings are part of the renovation process and last nights episode showed that team members were treated to one of Melbournes iconic morning sights - the hot air balloons over the CBD! And what better sight than the Burt & Davies balloon floating over the Block in Albert Park! :) Footage of the B&D balloon at 1.57 mins in - http://www.jump-in.com.au//fans-/episode-30/budget-blues/

17.01.2022 Social media and TAC serious injury claims, some food for thought.....

17.01.2022 International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is a United Nations sanctioned day that aims to promote an understanding of people with disability and encourage support for their dignity, rights and well-being. This video, created by Scope shows the wonder of ballooning for Lavourne.

17.01.2022 The current Victorian Government is proposing changes to the Transport Accident Act that will not only discriminate against people who suffer severe psychiatric injuries as a result of transport accidents, but which will also strip other fundamental rights and entitlements from current accident victims. What makes moves such as this so outrageous is that over the past 20 years successive Victorian Governments have benefitted to the tune of in excess of $7 billion, receiving consolidated revenue from the profits generated by the Transport Accident Scheme. Please consider signing the petition below and send a clear message to Government that such moves are not acceptable, particularly when it potentially effects every road user in Victoria.

17.01.2022 Wow, its hard to believe but Burt & Davies has just had its 9 year anniversary! Our gratitude to everyone who has been part of the Burt & Davies story. Over... the time we have been very fortunate to have had so many great supporters and many wonderful clients, several of whom have become good friends after the TAC chapter is written. It has been incredibly rewarding to assist our many clients and their families over the years - hopefully we have succeeded in making a small difference in their lives after the tragedy of being injured in a transport accident. We are looking forward to a small celebration with our dedicated and hard working girls tonight. We are also thinking ahead to how we will celebrate our milestone 10 year anniversary next year!! 16.01.2022 PLEASE READ: A CALL TO WITNESSES One of our clients was very seriously injured in a transport accident that occurred on Tuesday, 14 April 2015 at approximately 4.50p.m. The accident occurred on the Burwood Highway at the Eastlink overpass in Wantirna South. Our client was driving a red 2001 Toyota Camry stationwagon. He was travelling in the eastbound lanes of the Burwood Highway. He had been stationary at the traffic lights on the overpass that controlled entry on the East...link. He was intending to make a right hand turn on to Eastlink and continue southbound. He waited for lights to change and when the arrow turned to green, he proceeded to move forward and commence his right-hand turn. As he moved through his turn he crossed the westbound lanes of Burwood Highway. It was then that a vehicle travelling from the other direction ran a red light and collided with the front of his vehicle at a speed of approximately 80kph. The force of the collision pushed our clients vehicle into a grey 2013 Holden Captiva SUV that was travelling to his right (also executing a right-hand turn). The damage to our clients vehicle was extensive. The vehicle that struck our client was a red 2011 Holden Barina being driven by a middle aged female driver. Following the accident our client was trapped in his vehicle. A younger woman who was travelling in the vehicle behind him came to his assistance. Our client believes this womans name to be Robyn but due to his condition could not obtain any contact details for her. He recalls being told by "Robyn" that the driver who struck him had been on her mobile phone at the time of the collision. Police who attended the scene have no contact details for "Robyn". Our client has been unable to return to any employment since April 2015 on account of the injuries he sustained. He has required multiple surgeries and has been undergoing extensive treatment and rehabilitation up to the present time. We are seeking to pursue compensation on his behalf however, TAC is refusing to compensate him on the basis that the driver of the vehicle that collided with him denies being on her phone at the time. We asked TAC to prove this by requesting a copy of her mobile phone records for the day. The other driver has refused to make those records available. We are hoping that through FB and social media, with shares, that we might be able to reach the witness who went to our clients assistance following the accident to speak to her about what she saw on the day. This could be vital to our client being able to recover compensation for what he has been through and the losses he has sustained, both in the past and in to the future. Please feel free to share this post and help us find the witness that assisted our client on that day. Your assistance could be vital. If you have any information about this accident please call our office on (03) 9605 3111 or tollfree on 1800 109 940 during business hours. Thank you.

16.01.2022 ** IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT THE BOURKE STREET TRAGEDY** The city of Melbourne was the scene of a terrible tragedy on Friday. It occurred within very close proximity to our office. We saw some of the aftermath. We felt the sense of dread that gripped our city. In the very early stages we tried to comprehend what had occurred. The events of the day have now been widely reported by media outlets. Our deepest sympathies go to the families of those who have died. Our prayer...Continue reading

09.01.2022 DRIVING & TEXTING - A LETHAL COMBINATION We have recently seen a spike in the number of people injured in transport accidents because other drivers have been on their mobile phones. Using a mobile phone while driving is illegal, but texting while driving is stupid and incredibly dangerous. We all see drivers doing it. Perhaps if everyone sounded their horn people would stop doing it - worth a try because nothing else seems to be working at the moment.

07.01.2022 What are you entitled to?

06.01.2022 Clara and I remain committed to our clients, past, present and future, despite the challenging times ahead. We will be here for you. 05.01.2022 Peter and I consider ourselves very privileged to have had the opportunity to meet Kiff Saunders, who is an inspirational individual and a true fighter. We have shared part of his journey with him and as you will see from this article there was some good that came from his tragic circumstances. We are proud to have had the opportunity to work with him and we are not only fortunate to have "fell in love with ballooning" but also to have found a true lifelong friend.

So true Jenny! - Peter Burt & Clara Davies Watch out for photos taken by Clara who was flying in the Rochford balloon yesterday morning. She captured images of the Channel 7 news helicopter filming the flight.
