18.01.2022 Here's another house that I found had an unstable surface. It needed more sanding than I thought, but them's the breaks....and I forgot to take the after photos again. It looked pretty good in the end & the clients were very happy with the result

08.01.2022 www.touchupman.com.au Hi All, After over 30 years of painting, we've decided to start doing more small paint & plaster jobs. I've found there is a lack of quality workmanship in in this area. Each small job I have completed, my clients say that its been really hard to find an experienced tradesman painter that wants to prioritize quality. ... In the past I've referred people on to a good handyman to do these jobs, yet to find out later that top quality work, wasn't their priority. So I'm launching Touchupman to fill this void in the market.

04.01.2022 I forgot to take the after photos on this job. But this shows that I'll sand back any unstable surface before I'll paint it. I believe It's a bit pointless painting something if there's a chance it'll peel again in the next few years. If I was to put new paint on an unstable surface, as it dries, it shrinks, & can put pressure on the original paint underneath & pull it away to form bubbles, blisters, etc. Then eventually it will crack & peel within a year. ... I lost over $500 on this job because I didn't know the surface was so unstable. It looked ok until I started lightly sanding it. The last painter might have painted over dried old paint, that needed to be sanded, but I'd rather sleep well at night knowing my paint won't peel for years to come. So I had to sand it off to have a stable surface, then primed & applied 3 coats on the outside sections. I was only asked to paint over the existing paint, and give it a facelift. After 30 years of painting, I've learnt that it's better to lose money now, than have peeling paint in several months & be called up by a grumpy, unsatisfied client saying my paint is peeling...and your a low standard painter, etc. I say these sayings to myself regularly....better to be safe than sorry..... bad news travels faster than good news. or your reputation is only as good as your last job. To keep a good reputation it'll cost you in the short term, but will pay off eventually.

04.01.2022 Here's some photos of this job. This person had done as much painting as he could from the ground. He got us to prepare & paint the rest...to finish it all off. I think he'd had enough of painting The walls were originally white & had to be painted purple (yes purple) to match it all up. Purple wasn't my recommendation, but we do what we're paid to do
