16.01.2022 Happy Father's Day drawing from my daughter. Yes, that is a kayak on the roof racks :)

15.01.2022 Happy Valentine's Day from the Peppermint Stick Insects of the Daintree. These guys are making the most of the day. Peppermint Stick Insects are only found on specific pandanus plants in isolated patches of the wet tropics. They also exude a peppermint scented secretion as a defense mechanism.

14.01.2022 What a start to the wet season... December saw record high temperatures (43 degrees in the Village) and then record December Rainfall (over 1.5 metres). Then t...o top it off we have the highest flood levels on the Daintree River at the village since recording started 118 years ago (officially 12.6 metres). The rain has eased now and the river is only 2 metres above normal height... ...but more heavy rain is predicted later in the week. A lot of nests (crocodiles, fly catchers, kingfishers etc) have been washed away for a second time in 4 weeks. Plenty of wildlife around but obvious flood damage along the river, with trees down, banks eroded and some infrastructure damaged.

12.01.2022 One of our guests showing off her superb surfing skills on the tour today. Nice one Jenny!

10.01.2022 Fun 26km Downwinder from Yorkeys to Wangeti in around 15-20 knots. Messy conditions but some good runs to be had. https://youtu.be/1Dp-7kWZzLE

06.01.2022 Lockdown, lots of time to start sorting photos. Azure Kingfisher on the Daintree River.

06.01.2022 Had a great weekend at the Grin and Bear It Challenge on Lake Tinaroo. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I was already around the corner by the time the drone took this footage. A bit faster pace than what we usually do on a tour...

06.01.2022 https://youtu.be/7NwHwrrHKDA Testing out the new Garmin VIRB on a few out and backs from Newell Beach. Wind was around 15 knots. The better runs start at about 7:30 when I was in deeper water.

03.01.2022 We are pretty excited to offer a new trip, doing something that has been a passion of mine for 25 years (not quite as long as kayaking). Photography tours on the Daintree River in our dedicated 5 metre boat with room for 4 passengers. http://tours.bushandboat.com.au//Wildlight-Daintree-Rive/6
