21.01.2022 And things just keep getting better in the Bushland Garden in York. Thanks to the local shire we now have a brand new, composting toilet. It has plenty of character and is environmentally friendly. Now volunteers will be able to work all day instead racing home to use the loo

13.01.2022 What a joy to see the garden coming to life again. Here are some of the species flowering this week.

11.01.2022 What a busy day in the garden with Curtin volunteers helping out. We are so lucky to have these willing students come to York every year to lend a hand. We weeded, moved mulch, levelled sand, pruned wayward shrubs, oiled timber, burned some branches, and laid a couple of very heavy steps. A great day out in the sun

09.01.2022 With the increase in flowering of trees and shrubs in the garden so have the bees. Our native York gums have lovely hollows to shelter wildlife including european bees. We noticed a large swarm yesterday as the day warmed and ask that visitors keep a look out especially near the shelter at the top of the garden. This photo was taken after the swarm had departed.

08.01.2022 Our new gazebo is slowly coming together in the Bushland Garden with the addition of it's grass tree finial. The local magpies thought it was great. Thanks Stuart from the Hard Grind, York. The soon-to-be-completed gazebo was built by Rob Pampling who has done a fantastic job. The gazebo is being built to celebrate the memory of our dear friend and wildflower society member - Ian Crombie and will provide additional seating in the garden

08.01.2022 See the garden in all it's glory

07.01.2022 On Saturday 26th September the York Branch of the Wildflower Society were blessed with the most beautiful weather to celebrate the dedication of the new gazebo and officially open the new nursery. The memory of our friend and fellow member Ian Crombie was remembered with love and great respect for his contribution to the York community. Over 30 members of Ian's family came to the event with Ian's son James sharing special memories. Ian's two grandchidren read some of Ian' poe...try - a witness to his joy of gardening and sense of humour. Brother-in-law Denis Hill wrote of Ian's life achievements in Perth and then coming to York. Mary Hervey represented the York Garden Club and gave a special tribute to Ian's contribution during his years in York. Thank you to all who helped bring the wonderful gazebo to fruition - with special thanks to Rob Pampling for the building and Dee Robinson of Corrugated Farm for donating the wildflower panels adorning the sides of gazebo. Eric Ayling did a marvellous job of being MC for the event. Photo's supplied by Maryanne Crook See more

Sincere thanks to Lotterywest, the Shire of York, members and York CWA for making this such a great event.
