25.01.2022 Hobart B3 game update from Captain Brad: Our game this week was one of the most enjoyable matches I've ever been a part of, due to the sheer amount of fun and enjoyment that was had by everybody involved. The highlight for me was seeing the joy on the faces of our opponents when the siren went and they had notched their first ever win. It was very special for them, and even their team manager came over to thank us for such a great game.... The scores were close for the entire game, with both teams building leads at different stages, but to their credit the Stars made some clutch baskets down the stretch to get over the line. BOW goes to each and every player that took the floor Sunday, the fair play and respect shown by every one of you made me very proud to be your captain. Thank you all. A statement by Courtney Hagen (Indigenous & Social Engagement Manager) and Stella Lesic (Club President) The events of this year have given Bushrangers Basketball time to reflect on where we can improve, do more and recognise where we were falling short. ... Our logo fell short and for that we are sorry. Representation of BIPOC people matters. Our logo has been updated to include brown to proudly represent our BIPOC friends and to recognise the intersectional struggles of those further marginalised by their race or ethnicity. To celebrate the launch of our new logo we are selling iron on patches with all profits going directly to The Healing Foundation. The Healing Foundation is a national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation that partners with communities to address the ongoing trauma caused by actions like the forced removal of children from their families. With a recent move to Adelaide Lightening she is a player to watch out for this WNBL season! Marena is a passionate advocate for sharing and acceptance. Marena believes it takes strength and courage to be yourself in a world where you might... feel uncomfortable to do so. That’s what she is all about - accepting and celebrating individuals for who they are. Our club ambassadors are an important part of our club’s effort to reach out to the LGBTIQA+ community; celebrating out and proud top level basketballers living their best lives. BOW goes to Hannah who is playing with much more confidence and making huge progress Ana - playing very well as a power forward and their defence is improving week to week. Clairey and Ann Marie’s shootings was spot on and putting into practice everything they are learning at training.
