16.01.2022 The story of the Strawberry Blonde It all started in 2002 At the time we were one of the first to be creating funky brews with alternative ingredients, as a challenge we set out to create a beer that appealed to the not so beer drinkers (talk about a challenge). We found that it was the hoppy after-taste of craft beers that weren't so appealing and not the beer itself.... So out went Dan, the head brewer here at Bush Shack, he attempted to reduce the hoppy flavor and replace it with a slight bitterness and dryness. Dan looked at a few local fruits around the southwest and settled on the fan-favorite strawberries. What he produced was beyond expectation and the recipe hasn't changed since. The strawberries themselves are currently sourced from Berry Sweet Strawberry farm in Pemberton, Dan makes the trip to collect them himself. We use the 'seconds' which are the perfectly ripe strawberries that won't survive the journey to the supermarkets. This gives us a beautiful plump and a "fully ripened on the plant" strawberry which is perfect for what we're trying to do with them - making beer instead of flavoring beer.
