12.01.2022 Practicality prevails: High Court split decision fixes the paid personal leave anomaly In a ground-breaking judgement today, the High Court has issued its first decision on the Fair Work Act’s National Employment Standards since their introduction over 10 years ago. The High Court (4-1 in favour) overruled the contentious ruling of the Full Federal Court in Mondelez, finding that employees are entitled to 10 notional days of personal leave a year by reference to their ordinary working hours. This contrasts with the Federal Court’s view that 10 days of personal leave entitles all employees (regardless of their actual working hours) to 10 x 24-hour periods off work each year.

05.01.2022 COVID-19 NSW border entry permits are going to be with us for a while. But there are some things that we can all do to make crossing through border checkpoints... as quick and easy as possible. Before you reach a border checkpoint make sure: You allow yourself extra time to cross, there WILL be delays. Be patient, we're all in the same situation! You have your permit either on display or easily at hand. Because you don't want to be hunting for it or worse still realise you've left it at home! You have your ID ready.
