10.01.2022 Members of the Geographe Garden club were treated to a special tour of the Busselton Sugito Friendship Japanese Gardens by Busselton and Sugito Sister Cities Association (BASSCA) President, Pauline Vukelic in late March. Members gathered in the garden to learn more about the history and plants of the Japanese Garden (many of which are new Australian plants which had to replace the original plants that did not thrive in the Australian conditions) and key elements of Japanese g...arden design. The garden was designed and constructed by five Sugito Gardeners along with assistance from local volunteers in 1998. Construction of the adjacent Community Resource Centre saw a slight redesign in 2012. Following the garden tour Dunsborough resident Helena Chlepnac demonstrated sushi making and members were offered a Japanese morning tea including Green Tea tastings. See more
