25.01.2022 Wednesday 23 September is Bi Visability Day - also known as Bisexual Awareness Day or Celebrate Bisexuality Day! Why Bi Visibility Day? While bisexual people make up around half of the lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) community, research shows that both heterosexual people and gay/lesbian people express bias towards bisexual people. This ranges from exclusion from social networks to harmful assumptions that a bisexual person is just confused about their sexuality, just seeki...ng attention, or more likely to cheat, through to discrimination in areas of life including work, school, and health care. This "double discrimination" puts bisexual people at higher risk for poor mental health outcomes than their gay and lesbian peers. Research also suggests that less than one third of bisexual people say that all or most of the important people in their life know they are bisexual, compared to 77% of gay men and 71% of lesbians. For more information, see the report "Invisible Majority; The Disparities Facing Bisexual People and How to Remedy Them" - https://www.lgbtmap.org/file/invisible-majority.pdf

24.01.2022 See you at Pridefest

22.01.2022 Who else is obsessed with this show?

21.01.2022 "...bisexual people don’t have to prove their sexuality to you. Not those in hetero relationships, not those in same-sex relationships, not those in relationships with non-binary or transgender or intersex people. People should not have to validate their sexual identity or history at all. If for no other reason because it’s an extremely weird thing to ask someone. Stop it..."

20.01.2022 Pronouns? In this economy?! Y’all seemed to really like the last slideshow I made, so here’s another one for ya. Get your head around some grammar.

19.01.2022 Happy Bi Visibility Day! Also known as International Celebrate Bisexuality Day, Bi Visibility Day has been marked each year since 1999 to highlight biphobia and to help people connect with the bisexual community.

17.01.2022 MORE SIGNATURES NEEDED ONLY 532 signatures and less than 2 weeks to go PLEASE SIGN ON BEHALF OF THE TRANSFEMININE COMMUNITY ... Dear Speaker and the Members of the House of Representatives. This petition, on behalf of transfeminine citizens of Australia, draws the attention to the House, the lack of access within Australia to receive Medicare rebates for facial feminisation surgeries (FFS), an important part of gender affirming medical treatment. Which without, can lead to serious mental health issues. Currently, Gender Reassignment Surgery (GRS) is classified as a medical necessity and Medicare covers costs related to GRS. However, FFS is still considered cosmetic without rebate. This segregation between ‘necessity’ and ‘cosmetic’ in gender affirming healthcare shows a lack of understanding of gender dysphoria. GRS affects an individual’s ability to function in an intimate relationship, however, FFS improves interactions in a greater social setting therefore having a greater impact one’s quality of life. The benefits of Medicare providing a rebate for FFS would far exceed the insignificant costs. Not only will this proposed change assist all transfeminine Australians, it will also aid in boosting Australia’s position in a rapidly increasing market sector which we are currently falling short of. If we don’t act now, Australia is set to lose out on millions. This is not just a to vote for transfeminine Australians but also a vote for the future prosperity of Australia. Request: We therefore ask the House to make changes to the Medicare Benefits Scheme on behalf of transfeminine citizens of Australia, to include facial feminization surgeries to all transfeminine Australians receiving gender-affirming medical treatment for a minimum of 12 months What happens now? Once the signature period has closed, the petition will be presented to the House of Representatives by the Chair of the Petitions Committee or a Member of Parliament and will become a record of the House. We will also organise it to be sent to the Minister who is responsible for the area which the petition covers. Any response received from the Minister will be available with the petition on the website. If you would like any further information on the petition process more generally, please refer to the petitions website at https://www.aph.gov.au/petition_sign?id=EN1750

02.01.2022 "...Bi people face unique struggles. Outside of the stereotypes that come with being bi, there’s also a lot of emotional pain that comes from not feeling welcomed in gay or straight spaces. Often, this is referred to as double discrimination, and it’s by far, the worst part of being bi..." https://www.menshealth.com//bisexual-awareness-week-male-/
