23.01.2022 An intense low-pressure system is expected to impact large parts of the Western Australian coast this weekend, as the remnants of a tropical low interacts with ...a cold front, causing the low to deepen. Communities in western parts of WA are likely to experience a long period of strong winds and heavy rain, particularly on Sunday and Monday. Rainfall totals in Pilbara coastal areas are likely to be around 20-40mm with isolated falls from Karratha to Kalbarri near the coast of up to 100 mm. Further heavy falls are also likely down the west coast from Kalbarri to Albany with totals of around 20-30 mm and some isolated falls up to 70 mm. Much of the Wheat Belt is expected to see falls of at least 5-10 mm, with localities closer to the west coast expecting 10-20 mm. Seas and swells will be whipped up by the low, with peak wave heights in excess of 8m predicted for much of the west coast on Monday, leading to significant beach erosion. Storm tides are also likely to be dangerous and could lead to coastal inundation. Know your weather. Know your risk. 20.01.2022 How beautiful? This is the heartwarming moment little James was reunited with his family The three-year-old was found safe and well last night after he went... missing for nearly 12 hours in dense bushland in Yallingup, in WA's south-west. Sergeant Luke Fowler, the officer in charge of the Margaret River area, said the boy was finally found just before 7:00pm by his grandfather and uncle and quickly reunited with his waiting parents. "To see a child reunited with Mum and Dad, cuddled up together on the bed, it was just, look, you couldn't describe the sheer happiness that was on, especially Mum's face," Sergeant Fowler said. "That's something I think I'll always remember. "She was about as happy as I've seen anyone for a long time." Louise Watson, a friend close to the family, said: "Little James is feeling great this morning. He's back to his usual self and his family couldn't be happier." Love a happy ending! 16.01.2022 The SES assist in many ways during bushfires, but one task has been supersized this season with the Large Air Tanker (LAT) joining our fleet! Commissioner Darr...en Klemm and Minister Fran Logan MLA got up close to the two Large Air Tankers based in Busselton as well as the SES vollies who have been mixing retardant on the ground to be used at bushfires across the State. Over 180,000 litres of retardant was dropped at the Red Gully bushfire, which is now thankfully at a Bushfire Advice after more than 10 days of combined firefighting efforts. Though lives and properties are no longer under threat at bushfires we have successfully downgraded, work continues on the ground to ensure that the area remains safe. Thank you to career and volunteer crews still working hard at these incidents!

WOW Day provides an opportunity for the com...munity to recognise and celebrate the hard work and dedication of State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers throughout Australia. This is the colour worn by more than 2,000 SES volunteers across Western Australia who provide assistance to the community during natural disasters and emergencies. There is some steep competition between business units here at the City Administration Building, but we LOVE getting involved in such a simple and fun way! Think orange and thank orange. Thanks, SES!

05.01.2022 ** UPDATE ** 3-year-old missing boy James has been located in bushland alive by a family member who was assisting with the land search operation. Given the tim...e he has spent exposed to the rough terrain and poor weather conditions, arrangements will be made for him to have a medical check-up as a precaution. WA Police Force thanks all the emergency service volunteers and community members who assisted with the search. Original Post: Police are searching for a missing 3-year-old boy James in the area around Karli Rise, Yallingup. James was last seen about 7:30am today, Saturday 19 September 2020. James is described as fair skinned with blonde hair and blue eyes. He is wearing white ‘Spiderman’ pyjamas. It is believed James is also wearing wellington boots. Anyone who sees James is asked to remain with him and call Police immediately on 000. While some search resources will scale down overnight, Police will remain in the search area and continue to conduct patrols and search for James. If James is not located by tonight, the full search operation will continue tomorrow. Important message from Police in relation to locals residents attending the search area: - Thank you to everyone who has attended the search area. The response has been significant. - It is important members of the public do not venture into the bushland areas as they may inadvertently compromise evidence of where James has walked, and that could impact on the ability of trained searchers to track his movements. - Anyone who is in the area already is asked to stick to the main tracks and roads. - At this time there is no need for further members of the public to attend the location. - For those people who are already on site it is important they register their attendance at the Incident Command Post which is located at the DFES SES building on Caves Road. Post last updated at 7:20pm 19/09/2020.
