25.01.2022 Great news everyone!! Veterinary services have officially been put on the essential services list so no closing down as long as we all (including you) continue to take the advised precautions at the clinic. Our supply chains will also remain open to support us. Some of our clients have been expressing concerns about their pets veterinary needs for the coming months, which we totally understand. The AVA has been working behind the scenes to confirm with the government that we ...are essential....(We all know we are but a relief to know its official). Please be reassured that we will continue to look after your pets while we all get through this difficult time. We have adjusted our roster and have a separate team on annual leave isolating as a back up in case we need them. We are still offering all of our normal services plus the recently added "courtyard consult". Thank you everyone for supporting us through this time and I hope everyone is going ok. Give your pets a big hug from us. Cheers Kylie

25.01.2022 Java is snug as a bug after his castration surgery. He still looks a bit sleepy though. We will fix his bed hair up before we send him home with mum to recover.

25.01.2022 Lovely lil Luna B!!! There is definitely nothing better than puppy visits . We love to be able to build a bond with our new puppies from their first visits. It’s even better when we can give them the big of perfect health. We look forward to watching Luna grow up.

24.01.2022 How handsome is this fella His name is Fridge and he looks pretty happy with his shiny new smile after his dental.

23.01.2022 We have been having a run of bookings for ferret sterilisations lately. This is Flea who was in a few weeks ago to be castrated. Castrating male ferrets not only stops them from being able to breed it also helps reduce their natural male odour, bathing also helps with this. Castrating a ferret is similar to castrating a male cat. It is a quick procedure with a good recovery time afterwards.

23.01.2022 Gday everyone Covid-19 had changed many things about the world around us but how does it relate to our pets and how they can be looked after. The video describes what we are doing to continue with great veterinary care. The link below is to a video by Professor Vanessa Barr discussing the ZERO risk of Covid-19 to and from our pets. Enjoy and share... https://app.frame.io//f79aab18-6058-4a17-928c-7468b78bff2a Have a wonderful week and remember that we are available to help whenever your pet needs us, 24/7. Cheers Dr Richard Lucas

22.01.2022 When it’s dress up day at work what else is there to do but take a selfie with your colleague . Next time you are in for a visit, grab some of the pet selfie props, snap a pic and share it with us via Facebook, Insta or the Busselton Vet app. Don’t forget to #busseltonvetselfie

21.01.2022 I dont normally put promotions on our page as I dont want to fill your newsfeeds with product stuff but this little gadget is pretty cool. Its a microchip sensor pet feeder. It reads your cats chip and only opens when your cat goes to feed. Great if you have a dog that pinches your cats food or if you have a multi cat household and someone needs special food. Or you could use it for your little dog To go in the drawer to win it you just need to fill in a quick form and pop it in the box when you buy your Bravecto.

19.01.2022 What a handsome boy Ty is . You may notice he has some new ink in his ear after his castration With the owners consent, we tattoo our patients after desexing so its easier to tell if they have had the op. You might think its pretty obvious in boys but sometimes they have retained testicles, so may appear castrated even when they arent. Checking the ear for a tattoo is a good way to tell if an animal is sterilised.

19.01.2022 Hamish showing off his new smile after a routine scale, polish and dental X-rays. He got the all clear on the Xrays and is due back again in 6mths for a dental check up

19.01.2022 STUCK IN A MEETING BUT NEED TO CONTACT US? The chat function in our new Busselton Vet app is a great way to contact us if you aren't able to chat on the phone. Maybe you have a sleeping baby or you are at work and can't make a call. Simply start a new chat with us and we will get back to you ASAP. It is a great way to send us a picture/video of your pet if you think we need to take a look and we can also contact you after surgery etc. to see how you pet is going without the interruption of a phone call

19.01.2022 Adorable little A Chi had a big day with us today. We removed 20 teeth from his little mouth aswell as fixing his hernia and sterilising him. Some were baby teeth that hadnt fallen out, some were adult teeth coming through in the wrong direction and some teeth were crowded as there wasnt enough room in his mouth for them all. He was very happy to see his mum when she picked him up this afternoon and was going home to sit by the fire. We are knocking off now and wish you all a happy Sunday and Mothers Days tomorrow.

19.01.2022 Our lovely nurse Lisa getting some post op cuddles from sweet Dakota. Puppy cuddles are the bestest!!

19.01.2022 Gday everyone. As health professionals we are used to dealing with some pretty infectious diseases in animals and sometimes diseases that can transmit from animals to us. This means that we are very well placed to understand and implement really good hygiene practices to prevent people to people spread of Covid-19 in our hospital. From tomorrow, Wednesday the 25th March, we are restricting access into the hospital to just our staff and patients. ... This means that except in special circumstances we are asking our clients to remain outside in the fresh air or in your car and we will come out to you. If necessary we can also arrange a house call for you. We already have experience of meeting the veterinary needs of a couple in self- isolation with a vomiting dog which needed hospitalisation. We are flexible and adaptable and will continue to do everything we can to maintain the health and welfare of our patients, clients and ourselves. Place reach out to us if you have any concerns or questions and we will work with you. My last words are these: KEEP CALM AND LOVE YOUR PETS. Blessings, Dr Richard Lucas and all the passionate pet lovers at BusseltonVet Hospital.

18.01.2022 I reckon little Benny Boy might have his eye on a liver treat here . Ben is one of our Healthy Pets 4 Life and he was super happy to hang out with us today to get his teeth cleaned. His folks were pretty happy too as it was 50% off as hes on a care plan

17.01.2022 To our Big Busselton Vet Extended Family Just letting you all know that as of tomorrow we will be making the most of this beautiful autumn weather and our lovely sniffing garden and doing our consultations outside where possible. If you are coming for an appointment, we will be on the look out for you when you arrive in the car park , but if we dont greet you, then we ask that you call us from the car when you arrive and we will be with you in a flash. ... If your pet requires any treatment then our wonderful staff will escort them to our treatment room, fix them up and get them back outside to you asap. We do ask if you are unwell or in isolation that you let us know and send your pet with a friend or family member. We can talk to you over the phone during the examination so it will be just like you are there. We are also going to ensure our team gets plenty of Vitamin D, so if you need some parasite control, pet food or to collect a script or anything else, please call us from the comfort of your car and we will run it out to you - kinda like a drive thru vet clinic except youre parked. We are still offering all the normal services and surgeries and taking care of the everyday needs of your pets. It has been really busy over the last few weeks and it is definitely business as usual. Your pets health is still our main priority along with keeping our team healthy. We trust that you can all understand these necessary precautions and if you are concerned at all about anything to do with your pets well being over the coming months please dont hesitate to call us. Take care everyone Cheers Kylie ( I probably should have posted a pic of Pippin to get your attention )

16.01.2022 Dr Richard is a huge fan of a "good" dad joke....found these in a vet magazine we got today and couldn't resist sharing with you. I entered my pet snail into a race and removed its shell thinking it would make it faster......................unfortunately it only made it more sluggish. I brought an extra face mask for my pet duck to protect it from Covid..............nothing flashy but it fits the bill.... Why did Mozart kill is pet chicken?......................Because all it would say was "Bach, Bach, Bach Hit us up with your best jokes and we will have a giggle over them at our next staff meeting.

15.01.2022 Deadly snakes are not our normal patients. However, when our good friends at Discover Deadly have a problem with one of their animals we are more than happy to see them. HG is a Pilbara Death Adder, Acanthophis wellsi. He had a sub-spectacular abscess that we had to treat. This is a 9 minute video and if you keep watching it, you will see the inside of his mouth with his fangs and teeth, towards the end of the video. ... Post- op he is doing well. If youd like to see other snakes, lizards and interesting critters, then head out to Carbunup River to Discover Deadly!

15.01.2022 One of the very sweet perks of our job is puppy vaccine visits. These little delights were no exception. How cute are they? We gave them a thorough check over and report card for their new owners as well as their first vaccinations. If you have a cute pic of your dog when they were a pup please share it with us so we can all enjoy the puppy pic love

14.01.2022 We, at Busselton Vets, have been very privileged over the years to work with some amazing animals and wonderful people. On Wednesday night we were invited to the unveiling of the newly renovated SW Carpet Python penthouse suite at Discover Deadly. We sponsored the renovation but hadnt seen it until then! Let me tell you it looks wonderful! Kim and Bec have done an amazing job. They continually look to improve the welfare of their animals, all known by name, and are so kno...wledgeable and passionate. Thank you for the opportunity to contribute to the wonderful new enclosure. We were presented with a sponsorship plaque and then I had the fun job of placing Luxe into her new home. If you have got any sort of interest in our wonderful native wildlife, drive on down to Carbunup River and check out Discover Deadly - youll be hooked! In the photos below of us sitting on the ledge of the enclosure, see if you can spot Luxe chilling out in the tree house.

14.01.2022 Just warning you.... if you come into the clinic today you ARE going home with a Lebanese cucumber from our community vege garden . Things got a little out of hand over the busy Christmas/New Year period and we have been taken over. Please drop in and grab a cucie from the table in reception, trust me there are plenty to go around. Happy new year everyone

14.01.2022 Cheeko stopped by for a wing clip last week, which was quite timely considering he flew from his mum in the waiting room and landed on my head . Luckily, I had a lovebird growing up so didnt even flinch Birds make great low maintenance pets and each of them has their own little traits and personality

14.01.2022 Little Ginger was in earlier in the week. If you look closely you can see a little bandage on the front leg from where we had to perform an amputation. Check out lunch, no wonder Ginger looks so healthy

13.01.2022 Little Zac has been having some big troubles with his teeth. Last month he came in for his Scale, Polish and Assessment (which included dental X-rays) and today he was back for his multiple extractions. Here he is having his post op stroll around the garden. He is looking forward to his mum and dad coming to pick him up soon.

12.01.2022 Oh Annie.....you couldnt possibly be any more cuter

10.01.2022 Its pet selfie time!!!! Morning everyone. Im guessing some of you might be getting a little bored sitting at home or you are flat out entertaining the kids (especially if your wireless has stopped working like mine) . A big positive is that we are all getting to spend more time with our human and fur families. My chickens are loving getting out to free range more this week while I have been working from home. ... Your challenge, should you accept it ......is to get creative and share your Covid 19 isolation pet pics with us. Im sure it will brighten everyones day and maybe give us a laugh. I look forward to seeing your beautiful pics. Take care everyone. Kylie.

10.01.2022 Hi Busso Vet family. Apologies for being a bit quiet on the social media front this last month. It has been pretty busy over the last few weeks in the clinic so we havent had much time to get the usual happy snaps of our beautiful patients to share with you Ive been focusing on settling in our new vet Dr Kerri Jurgens as well as finding us our new nurse Hayley, who starts next week. I am also pretty happy to let you all know that Caz will be coming back to work next week. Agnes and I have also been nailing down our 12 month plan for all the CPD we are doing this year Now that is all out of the way and we have a plan for the year Ill get back to the good stuff....posting your beautiful fur babies and sharing their stories with our BVH family. Thanks everyone and have a great day. Cheers Kylie

09.01.2022 The nurses have upped the ante on their hospital pictures. Nurse Erin has created lots of fantastic new props. Sonny was one of the first patients to try them out this week when he was in for his castration procedure yesterday.

09.01.2022 Pippin and our entire Busso Vet family would like to wish you all a safe and happy Christmas. 09.01.2022 Pippin all tuckered out after our staff meeting this morning . Apparently there is something wrong with his bed, pretty sure this is not how you are supposed to use it

09.01.2022 Abby popped in for a visit after her trip to the hairdresser today. She enjoyed her courtyard consult and had her brother Bond with her for moral support. We are very glad we can be with all of you and your pets through this time. I am really enjoying being back on the front line working in the reception after being in the office for the last few years. Its been wonderful catching up with clients and putting faces to the names of clients I havent met yet #definitelygettingmystepsin. Cheers Kylie.

09.01.2022 When youre hanging in the garden with nurse Erin after your op and you dont know which pose is your best angle . Beautiful Coco Has your dog got some selfies they would like to share with us?

08.01.2022 Meet lil Keshi. Keshi and her family lived down here in Busselton for a few a while but moved back to Perth more than 5 years ago. Her family have brought her back down to see us a few times over the years whenever she has needed dental procedures. Although they have seen multiple vets in Perth for vaccinations and check ups, they still choose us for her dental treatment. We are very lucky to have this cheeky little girl visit us

08.01.2022 A few weeks ago like many businesses, we broke our team into two groups. This was to ensure we could continue to care for our patients should one of us be exposed to the virus. Luckily we have all continued to be fit and healthy (some fitter than others ) Since then we have been opening all day on Saturday which has been working extremely well. We have also been able to offer our clients our normal surgical services on Saturday which has been great for some of our clients who struggle to get in during the week. This is Odin enjoying what looks like the last of this lovely autumn weather after his routine procedure this morning. His dad is just about to pick him up. Have a great weekend everyone and stay safe. Cheers Kylie.

08.01.2022 Congrats to the owner of this car we spotted while out walking puppy Ava yesterday on King St. You have gotten yourself a complimentary consultation for supporting our family owned small Busselton business. Don’t forget to grab a bumper sticker next time you are in the clinic for your chance to be spotted. If you know who owns this car please tag them. Have a great Wednesday everyone

07.01.2022 What a beautiful shot of Dolly. Jump on the app to upload a picture of your pet and make sure you cast your votes on the best selfie for the leaderboard

07.01.2022 ANZAC Day morning in our driveway, as we looked down the street we saw our neighbours out with their candles; a fitting tribute to all the amazing service people past and present. Thank you. Thank God for Australia.

07.01.2022 Give your cat a shout out if they have a similar greeting tactic when you get home

06.01.2022 CAT CARE WORKSHOP - Kitty Cat School We are very happy to be partnering with GeoCatch who are running an Cat Ownership information session on Saturday. Dr Richard will be doing a presentation on general cat health (which I'm hoping doesn't have too many "dad jokes" ). Tickets are still available for this free event which starts at 1pm on Saturday. We hope to see you there.

05.01.2022 Morning everyone. If you are popping into the clinic over the next few weeks then dont forget to grab a ticket in the Busselton Brass Easter Egg raffle. I have played in the Brass Band for the last 25yrs (yep Im that old) and many of our members bring their pets here for us to look after. Our practice is proud to support this fantastic community band. Cheers Kylie.

04.01.2022 Its not quite the same as rolling out the red carpet BUT this grand ol fella Bo was pretty happy walking on our new blue carpet runner donated by Solomons Flooring. Some of our older dogs find it a little hard to get traction on our floor so we have the runner to make them feel more comfortable. Please let us know if you think your dog would appreciate the blue carpet experience when you call for an appointment.

04.01.2022 NO MORE WAITING UNTIL WE OPEN AT 8AM !! Pretty excited to see orders coming through on the new Busselton Vet app today. Whether you need a repeat script for your pets medications or realise at 8pm that you need food for your pet, you can jump on anytime and place your order. We will let you know when it is ready for pickup. The video below explains the quick process using the app.....it's that easy!!

03.01.2022 Pippin hanging out in the haunted house. He was such a good boy while we styled him and the cubbie house, he just stood there wagging his tail and smiling at us. There were a decent amount of liver treats in it for him I must admit. We can’t wait to see your pets Halloween selfies. Have a great weekend everyone.

03.01.2022 Meet Gingerbread. We think thats a pretty cool name for a ginger kitty cat. He was in yesterday to have a sore tooth taken out and get his other healthy teeth cleaned and polished. Hes a lovely big boy

01.01.2022 Winner, winner, chicken dinner!! If you know who owns this bumper sticker please tag them so they can come and get their complimentary consultation for supporting our business. Have a great weekend everyone (Bumper stickers are on the front counter if you would like to get some skin in the game )

01.01.2022 Beautiful Roxy was in yesterday for a torn nail. Torn nails can be very painful, so we generally sedate the patient to deal with them properly and with less stress to the dog. Even though Roxy came in for a torn nail, we did a full 12point examination as part of her consultation and discovered she needed her teeth cleaned. So we combined the two procedures and she went home with a new smile and a nice bit of bandage art to show her friends

01.01.2022 Tonight we are very excited to host our first socially distanced, aqium dosed group of new puppy owners into our clinic for puppy preschool. We have a smaller group so we can maintain a safe distance and everyone confirmed they were 100% well on arrival. Puppy preschool is a vital part of a puppys development. The importance of socialising in a safe controlled environment and learning basic commands is pivotal in raising a happy healthy dog for all the family to enjoy. Its also a perk of the job for us to get to pat and play with all these adorable puppies each week.

01.01.2022 Hi BVH family. Can I please ask for your help with a poll? If we could offer you an experienced dog groomer, would you bring your dog to our clinic for his/her groom? Thanks everyone. Have a great weekend. Kylie
