17.01.2022 Approaching their 13th season, Perth-grown Heavenly Strawberries produce almost 600,000 punnets each year, with the 2020 harvest available from August on retailer shelves. This super-sweet brand was started by Quality Produce International (QPI) over a decade ago and continues to be a consumer favourite for its sweet flavour and glossy appearance. Scott Williams, QPIs Berry Category Manager, puts Heavenly Strawberries success down to not just th...e taste, presentation or aroma, but also the careful handling and Brix sugar testing which ensures the guaranteed sweeter taste. Our berries are handpicked, and the grower does what we refer to as a double-pack. The first wave of packing they go through is for the Heavenly pack where they pick out fruit that meets the Heavenly standard - its all hand-selected. Our growers the Lieu family already had the expertise in growing this particular variety and we identified early on their fruit was something special. They respect the brand and are consistently able to deliver incredible quality fruit, which has as much to do with the brands success as the marketing itself. We loved getting to know more about these local #WAFoodHeroes, and the huge effort which goes into making these available to WA consumers. See more

02.01.2022 Dinners parties are great for creating unforgettable memories with friends and family, while also for showing off your prowess in the kitchen. But if you, like many, are looking to make your dinner party more sustainable, we've found 5 great tips on how to create your next eco-friendly event. 1 Design a seasonal menu. Not only will it keep things feeling fresh & new, but allows you to pair the meal perfectly to the weather. ... 2 Try incorporating native Australian ingredients to your menu. You can start small with the herbs and spices, exploring the use of lemon myrtle and native pepper. Then, when ready, experiment with wattle seeds, bush tomatoes or even fruit from the Lilly Pilly tree. Learning about traditional bush tucker and Indigenous cuisine can make your meal that bit more memorable. 3 Source locally; though access to native ingredients may vary, eating local can tick many sustainability boxes. It reduces food miles, helps build community networks and supports the local economy. Keep an eye out for the #BuyWestEatBest logo when selecting your ingredients in-store! 4 Make it a potluck party. Often whipping up a small dish to share among many can increase variety and reduce wastage, especially if you green light the use of leftovers from another meal. 5 Remember the 5 Rs - Refuse Reduce Reuse Recycle Repair. Avoid disposable cutlery, get creative with decorations and ensure any recyclable waste in handled correctly post-meal. Then, all you have to do is the sixth R - Relax!
